Lathander doesn't have the Sun portfolio, though. There simply isn't a proper sun god in the Faerûnian pantheon anymore, just like there isn't a god of time etc.
Lathander's portfolio is "athletics, birth, creativity, dawn, renewal, self-perfection, spring, vitality, youth" according to F&P. He's specifically a god of sunrise, not highsun or evening sun, for example.

wrong =D chronos used to have the time portfolio, guess which race with the extended longevity has it now http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/Labelas_Enorethalso horus-re is specifically named 'the sun god' though there are alot of conflicting portfolio's in other pantheons like with the dawn and the night. again, it stems from egypt (irl) and RE pretty much refers to the sun and its 'rays'

Oh, and here I was thinking Labelas was an elven deity and Horus-Re was Mulhorandi, but if we're to believe you they're part of the Faerûnian pantheon? Where do you find this information about Chronos, anyway? I've found one reference to an abandoned shrine in some adventure module I've long since forgotten, but it didn't state Chronos was of the Faerûnian pantheon. He probably existed before there was a Faerûnian pantheon to begin with.

its kind of confusing because of the time of troubles, and chronos is one of those ones rarely mentioned, probably a dead power if at all on amia, said to be lost in time, or just somewhere else.
and um, you got me there, its weird that lathander doesn't have the sun and horus-re does for one thing, since the faerunian pantheon is pretty much the main power, or the most well known at least. but neither ones I mentioned are part of that one, they are elven and mulhorandi, and chronos was adnd I think so i'm not sure, its a past event in any case...

Sorry for the snarkiness btw, I just hate getting told I'm wrong when I'm not. If you want to refute someone's claim, it's generally better to double-check everything and preferrably offer references to the books or other sources you used to make that conclusion. Like just now, you talk more about Chronos, but no one can check if it's all bollocks because we don't know where you're getting this information from.
I don't think it's necessrily strange that there's no pure sun god in the Faerûnian pantheon. Rather, it's the consequence of a unique historical developement and makes the world seem a little more believable and immersive. There was no game designer with a list of portfolios you must have in every pantheon, forcefully creating and merging gods with a gotta catch'em all attitude. Rather, Lathander marks a new beginning after the fall of Netheril (even though there's no definite chronology, but that's a symbolism I can understand). But the lack of a sun god is an untenable situation in the long term, and that must be the very reason the cult of Amauntor has risen again to advocate Lathander's growth into maturity as a full-fledged sun god.

I have always fancied that there is no "sun god" because when we think of sun we think of star, aka, planetary body, but I think the notion of planetary bodies in FR is in the realm of "those crazy, secular sons of bitches" (such as my PC) whose investigations of a universe that may be unconnected (or more fairly, only indirectly connected rather than directly represented) to the deities is a threat to the cults of divinity.
Instead, the priests - arguably the setting's genuine authorities - take the sun into its constitutent elements: light, hope, consistency, promise, dawn, renewal, etc. The sun is therefore treated by priests as a figurative/metaphorical (or literary, if you like) construct, and not as a scientifically classified burning ball of gas called the sun that heats the world. These constituent elements can be personalized because they represent the interaction humanity and life has with the sun, and therefore those constituent elements can be personified or attributed to a divine entity...like Aumanator or Lathander.
Therefore, the deity becomes greater, in heirarchy, than the deity's representation, the sun. To call Lathander/Aumanator a "sun god" is to suggest that the sun is an older form that the deity attached itself to, which leads to heretical questionings.
In fact, I think there is at least one "heretical" Lathandran order that pulls an Apollo/Helios analog with Lathander, suggesting that the sun and Lathander are one and the same, thus getting away with calling him a kind of sun god.
But your standard Lathandran would believe, imo, that the sun is merely a synechdoche for Lathander, a small part that represents the greater whole of the god, because Lathander has roles (and portfolios) that extend beyond the sun itself, so to call him a sun god is both reductive and spiritually dangerous.

Amanuator is way cooler than Lathander though. How was that about playing clerics of dead deities again, was it possible?

It is, but only in a few very specific circumstances that generlly result in you gettng your power from a living deity who has a vested interest in perpetuation of power from adead source. In Amaunator's case, Lathander does it because... he is Amaunator. I'm not sure of the circumstances that made him change. If I had to guess, he changed when the Netherese Empire fell, and was "reborn" into LAthander. Hence his desire for earnest renewal and rebirth and new beginnings. And then, in 4e, when the Netherese Empire rises again, he reclaims his old station as Amaunator, but doesn't abandon those he claimed as followers as LAthander. He becomes a god with twin aspects: The vibrant, youthful Lathander, and the stern, aged Amaunator.

Being a Baldurs Gate fanboy, I did very much like the Amanuator version of Lathander. I know they are the same, aspects and mumbu jumbo. The question then is wether i need to make a request to play a cleric trying to revive faith in Amanuator?

Clerics of Amaunator are fair game. Especially since there's a big cult of Amauntor emerging and congregating in Eversult, trying to transform Lathander into Amaunator. A few books mention viable cults of dead deities. I can't remember what they are, right now. Check Lost Empires of Faerûn and Power of Faerûn, maybe. Power Of Faerûn has everything about this new Amauntor Heresy, the whole campaign outline. And some more about heretics, I think. LEoF has the Servant Of the Fallen feat, which lets you get divine spells from a dead deity (though not just anyone, I guess). Amaunator, Auppenser, Bhaal, Gilgeam, Ibrandul, Leira, Moander, Myrkul, Ramman and Tchzzar are all listed under Dead Deities in the book, right after mention of using the feat to get spells from such beings. So I imagine they're all possible to some extent, but you'd have to investigate each case seperately.
It's quite possible that Lathander wasn't Amaunator before, IMO. Maybe they coexisted in different cultures. But as Amaunator faded away and Lathander took much of his roles, something of Amauntor survived in him. Dead deities are rarely really dead, anyway. And now that humans have started to believe in Amaunator again, he grows stronger in Lathander until he takes over Lathander as the dominant side. Thinking in mundane terms, it would seem that Lathander had to be Amaunator before, too. But I don't think that's necessary when it comes to gods: the faith of mortals shape the reality of gods. If everyone started believing Oghma was the dead god of Time, he might become that god whether or not he ever was him.

Oh, I was actually trying to think of a new PC concept a few days ago, and a Lathanderite who was beginning to convert into the Risen Sun stuff seemed really interesting. Wanted to maybe combine it with Nes'ek's Chessentan history and its special blend of Lathanderite theocracy. If QPR's doing it, then I just might act on those plans.

For a Feytouched, would it be possible for one parent to be half-fey and the other a Human/Elf?
What general info can anyone give me on Feytouched? Eyes, Skin, Hair, height, life span etc.

Amian Feytouched all are elven, there's no human variety. Don't ask me why, that's just how the subrace got implemented and we've gone with it. All the info you can find is right there in the subrace description, there just isn't any lore about them AFAIK.

Yeah, Lathander isn't a full sun god, in truth. I guess you can even say Selune has some say over the sun, in a way. Considering she's not only goddess of moons, but of stars as well. jimbono1 wrote: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Amaunator
Although, It says in there that one of his titles is Lathander. And on Lathander's page "The Morninglord, is the neutral good aspect of Amaunator" It only says that because that's 4th edition, where Lathander went bye bye and we said hello to Amaunator again.

I don't know if it's considered canon for Amia but Fiend Folio wrote, about feytouched : Quote: The fey are known for their curiosity (some would say obsession) with humanoids and giants, and sometimes a fey falls in love with one of these creatures. The creatures known as feytouched have a half-fey and a humanoid or a giant as ancestors. (Half-fey are described later in this book.) Feytouched are a widely varied group of beings—some are wispy and beautiful, while others are ugly and brutish. Some resemble elves, with pointed ears and almond shaped eyes. Others look more like trolls, with warty skin and disproportioned limbs. Regardless, all feytouched have at least one feature or characteristic that is out of the norm— vibrantly colored hair, feathered eyebrows, or a propensity for speaking in rhyme, for example. Despite their actual appearance, all feytouched are highly charismatic beings that draw attention wherever they go. Feytouched have no cohesive culture; either they become isolated loners, or they immerse themselves in cosmopolitan society, sampling everything life has to offer. They are also drawn to the same natural settings that other fey called home. Most fey respond favorably to feytouched and consider them distant cousins. And then, in Fiend Folio, about half-fey : Quote: The magical nature of fey allows them to crossbreed with virtually any other creature. The offspring of the resulting unions, half-fey, are enigmatic and freespirited beings. Fey are deeply curious about other creatures, spending a great deal of time watching their behavior. Sometimes they have dalliances with a nonfey, often forgetting that there are consequences for their actions. The progeny from these moments of passion are either completely ignored by the fey parent or utterly embraced, with the parent teaching it secrets that only the fey can know. Half-fey vary wildly in their appearance, and no two are exactly alike. Half-fey can either be beautiful and comely, with exaggerated and chiseled features, or misshapen and troll-like. Sometimes it is apparent from birth that a child is not normal, but other times it takes several years for odd features to emerge.
Regardless of what form they take, half-fey are always charismatic and intriguing to gaze upon. They always have at least one or more distinctive attribute, such as wings, jeweled or knotty skin, or hair made of flowers. Half-fey never truly fit into any mortal society, being considered alien and strange beyond compare. Because of their ability to charm and lay curses, some half-fey are persecuted by superstitious populations. However, half-fey are usually accepted to some degree among fey, who look past superficial aspects such as appearance. Good half-fey are usually devoted, if capricious, defenders of the wilderness and do their best to keep it unspoiled. Evil half-fey are malicious, petty, vindictive, and sadistic, delighting in the chaos and mayhem that they can cause.

Yes, that bit about Feytouched is all there is, or all I've been able to find. It's been mostly paraphrased in the subrace description, only that they're all elf-born on Amia.

Oh QPR: check the Lost Empires Of Faerûn prestige class Sunmaster. It has awesome information. Apparently the sect of Amaunator-believers has existed in Lathander's church for centuries as a mildly heretical but accepted bunch. The storyline in Power of Faerûn has made this a hot topic like never before, though.
Now I'm torn between playing a Sunmaster and a Morninglord. Gentle and inspiring Lathanderite or a stern and righteous servant of Amaunator. Bah, I hope there's PCs on both sides so I can antagonize them no matter what I choose. Amaunator seems cool, but that'd be more up the cleric alley, with raging spells of FIRE AND SUNLIGHT!

I didn't call your effort, or even your information, bollocks. I just pointed out a matter of methodology and good practice: when you use citation, people can go to your source themselves and see if they agree. For all we know, you could be making this up, or maybe you're using an inappropriate source you think is valid. I don't know you personally, and even if I did, it shouldn't matter: these practical guidelines are good to keep in mind no matter how good you are. There's always a chance for mistake. If you ever write a real research paper, you'll have to do way more than vaguely mention to source. I don't think it's too much trouble to do even that here.
But yes, I agree that Chronos is a dead deity of time. There's an abandoned shrine of his in some North adventure module, IIRC. I just don't remember which. If you could point us to where you found this information, maybe we could follow the trail to the source.

Well, that'll only work if there is a strong PC presence of these heretics. If I want to rattle the cage, I have to take the side of the controversial minority, and I don't know which one that is. This is the wrong topic to talk about this, I guess.

Having seen the dawnguard a nd the general tendencies of the server I can safely say that Amaunator continues to be the controversial heretical minority.

#1: This was introduced in 4e, really. My assumption is that on some cosmological level they probably sare. but who cares? It will literally never come into play or affect you IC an is never something you should know.

Lathander is cooler. Ignore the 4E revelations (Which are not neccasarily the direction things will go in Amia's campaign?) and directly argue against the Risen Sun, which is obviously nonsense, regardless of what that cad in Elversult has to say with his glorified fireball. Pfft. Amaunator beats Lathander any day.

Not really. Lathander is pretty unique and interesting when you really get into it. He has a loaded portfolio and offers more material for developing your own serious theology IC than most deities. Amaunator is a pretty standard "order, light, justice" god we have loads of in FR and other generic fantasy. He's not very different from Tyr or Kelemvor in mindset, he just happens to have a sun theme. That's exactly the dilemma: Lathander as such would be more interesting, but advocating a heresy and all the politics that go with it is even juicier.

IronAngel wrote: But yes, I agree that Chronos is a dead deity of time. There's an abandoned shrine of his in some North adventure module, IIRC. I just don't remember which. If you could point us to where you found this information, maybe we could follow the trail to the source. The only mention of him I've been able to find (although I do recall hearing of him from other places, too) is the second ed adventure Four from Cormyr (obfuscated so as not to spoil the adventure): Quote: 10. Shrine. The door to this room comes open easily. Inside is a sparse room with a stone block two feet on a side, and a statue looming behind it. The statue is a representation of a winged, robed man clutching an hourglass in one arm and a scythe in the other. The hourglass is on a chain, and the chains other end is attached to a neck collar, forever linking the figure and the hourglass. Although you sense a certain sanctity to the room, there is neither a sinister atmosphere nor a compassionate one. The room feels like a haven of propriety and order, but of such a nature that it favors neither the just nor the unjust.
The PCs have stumbled into a shrine to a god that is long forgotten in the Realms. The deity answers to the names Chronos, Kronus, and Karonis, and he is the god of time. Any PC with proficiency in religion and ancient history will be able to identify the statue and the purpose of the room. An offering that is placed on the simple altar will age rapidly and turn to dust within one round. The supplicant then receives a vision, subject to your choice. It can be a scene showing how the keep became a ruin, a glimpse of something in the future (such as an image from one of the adventures in this product that has not been played yet), or, if the character has a riddle or mystery that he cannot solve, a hint based on a recent event in the PCs past. However, no matter how many people place offerings on the altar, only one such manifestation will occur in a 24-hour period. (As an amusing option, each PC who puts out an offering after the first one will hear a solemn voice in his head that recites the exact time.) The only passive benefit this shrine has is that it keeps out all undead.

There's something nagging at me. I remember seeing it once, but I can't find it again. It was a map of Faerun, with all the territories of the major dragons marked on it. A big red blob over the Northwest where Klauth lives...and all the rest... I didn't imagine it, did I? Anyone know what I mean? Link please.

Yes, I think I've seen it. I don't remember where, though. It's possible you just described it so vividly that I'm imagining it. I have a list of all the known dragons of the realms and their locations, which is from Dragons of Faerûn. Yurell: yes, that's it! Dark Immolation: there's no reason to assume your PC knows more than you do. Gods are surprisingly tolerant of heresies, much to the shock of "orthodox" faithful who expect lightning bolts. There's no reason to guess about the gods OOC, but rather just go in headfirst IC and suffer the consequences if the gods disagree.

I stumbled across this recently by accident while looking for information about the copper dragon, Galadaeros. Lucky you! Linky to it.

Thats the one. Cheers Ragi.
Look at that, though. A Green Dragon lives on one of the islands of Ruathym. Thats interesting. Though I'll have to google that one to see if he's dead. Or gone. Or if anyone knows he's there. Or he's a she.
...That can wait till morning.

Pretty much wanted to know by Amia Canon
Whats the combined population of the isle of Khem as a rough Guestimate. I'm currently filling in the Wiki.
Also would like to know the populations of the regional centers Djedet and Nes'ek assuming that Nes'ek is the smaller because of how isolated it was for so long.

5 - 10 thousand inhabitants total perhaps 90 percent of those regional farmers with the leftover ten percent split 70/30 between Djedet and Nes'ek?
Its a tiny island I can't see it supporting anything more than that.

Nes'ek is bigger by area, but not by population, its basically Churches, a small population that maintains the churches (including PC's), and a fluid population of merchants.
Djedet on the other hand is purely a merchant town, with a population of crafts people supporting the outlying infrastructure of farmlands and miners.
Put it this way, Djedet is basically like inner city apartments with people stacked one atop the other whilst Nes'ek is pretty much estates in the country-side.
