What's the stance on GS and traps now? Being ethereal and all things like that should have no effect on you right?
So in PvP, if someone lays down a bunch of traps for you while you're in GS and you get killed, does that count?

GS is not Etherealness. You're physically still there. Laying traps is fine. Yes, if you die in GS, it counts just as any other thing.

Whole thread about it here, from a while ago. http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49518&p=815482

Well yeah, but the recent nerfs to it doesn't it seem allot more like Ethereal Jaunt now?

That has little to do with the lore of what it is. The things they changed did not change the effect of what "Sanctuary" is on Amia. It's still the same effect. There are just more limitations on what you can do while under its effects, namely, you cannot cast.

Until said otherwise by the DM team, it functions the same, I believe.

Yes... If you die in GS, you die in GS. WYSIWYG.

Doesn't matter if it looks close to Etheral Jaunt or not. This is how Greater Sanctuary is on Amia:

The default description of Greater Sanctuary clashes with how it actually works ingame, which often confuses the roleplay surrounding Greater Sanctuary users. So please ignore the description entirely.

An Amia the spell is considered, for RP purposes, to be a save-less version of the level 1 Cleric spell Sanctuary. You are not on (or partially on) the ethereal plane; what the spell does is penetrate any magical or inate supernatural barrier to mind-affects and makes all individuals incapable of choosing to hurt the caster directly. They can still be seen, smelt and heard, but direct hostile action is impossible.

Note that this does not allow you to escape from all roleplayed conflicts: for example city guards can still detain you by other means than physical assault. Locking the city gate, for example.

Furthermore, when in battle(in game mechanics terms, set to Hostile) the spell affects your senses too, making them incapable of detecting the caster unless they have the powerful magical senses of a dragon or Umber Hulk. Even if they have such eyes, they cannot choose to hurt the caster directly.

On an intellectual level, any semi-intelligent character with experience of mages will be able to deduce a GS'd caster is probably in the general area from in-character clues like the existence of summons, or from having seen them cast it in the first place, or from having a friend or summons with 'real' True Seeing, so using area-of-effect spells/feats in PvP is not considered cheating, provided the various purely out-of-character means of locating someone have not been used.

For example, if you have set a Weapon Master to Hostile during a roleplayed conflict and then cast Greater Sanctuary, you are legitimately vulnerable to Whirlwind Attack being spammed while you buff in 'safety.' The WM has 13 INT. He will know you are around somewhere, even if some part of his brain is ignoring the fact his eyes/ears/nose are telling him exactly where that is.

Beside, GS giving immunity to traps would basically make the bridges to abyss and gauntlet shop useless.

True, just that with all the nerfs it's getting I'm wondering what's the point of even having it now. It's great for running away, but that can be easily foiled if someone laid traps so...
Either way, just figured it was appropriate since I thought they were trying to make it more like Ethereal Jaunt.

Don't run over the traps. Obviously.

Exactly. That was the whole point of the changes that were made.

And if someone's already laid traps to block off your getaway, that's a caliber of planning and strategy that can't easily be bested by a single spell. Them's the works.

Ever try not to run over an entire floor of traps stacked on top of each other like nobody's business? Kinda hard, if you couldn't pile 6 traps on top of each other in area transitions or doorways, maybe, otherwise you're screwed either way.

I play a PC that uses GS and traps. It's not, and never has been, supposed to make you invulnerable. And again. If someone's already laid down traps, then they've planned. That doesn't mean your getaway spell is flawed. It means your strategy for getting away is.

Not trying to start an argument over traps here, my question was about if traps should work on GS and I got my answer.
My last post was just me pointing out that there's a rather limited way of dealing with traps in NWN, that's all, I'm not arguing that GS should be immune to traps.

Didn't you know? Amia balance is absolutely perfect and real life equations and representations apply IC despite a completely fictional setting with surreal implementations of monster races and exceedingly ridiculous abilities!

Needled, lock or no lock there was absolutely no reason to say that. That was really disappointing.
