But why 30 bard instead of 25 Bard and 5 levels of either fighter or KC? 30 bard and curse song means +1/ -1 AC and some more HP, but KC gives weapon prof, auras, saves and 4 attacks per round, and fighter the same except auras with more feats and EWS.

Hey guys, I'm back after a long hiatus and was wondering if anyone could help me understand where I was going with my build. My character is a fire using sorc, I know I was going for Hellball and EDK, is this possible with my current build?

I believe so.
You should have a Sorc bonus feat at 29 where you can take one of them and the feat at level 30 where you can take the other. You just have to make sure you bump your Spellcraft by at least 1 (need 32 Spellcraft to take Hellball).

Awesome, thanks!

Now I just need to find some high-leveled places to level in! (There's probably some amazing new 28-30 areas I've missed out on the past 2 1/2 years).

My shifter is at 26 at the moment, and facing a tough decision. I currently have Expertise but no Improved version. Should I take Improved Expertise instead of Outsider Shape? (I will have Dragon/Construct shapes)

I'd recommend taking Outside shape, the Rakshasa is pretty nice from what I've seen and heard.

Do not take this like an insult.
But A - read the server changes
Then B - read the nwnwiki.

If you still have questions, post here! :)

Wizards can make all the spell scrolls a bard can, but better, but there are a few potions only bards can make.
Search for brew potion on the nwnwiki and you will find a list

Craft wand is also a handy feat as mosh said above me.

This. potions are nice but on a bard i really helps to have something that you can repeat use quite a few times.

Is that a caster build with divine might only? Makes no sense to me. If you have zero melee/ranged feats, I see no point in picking might or even that high charisma, unless it be a RP build of course.

You will be able to hit stuff, sure, but your AB will be a bit under mediocre for a cleric, your spells will not be very strong in terms of duration and difficulty class.. well, there are lots of things I could point at.

What is your goal with that build? Currently it appears weak in the caster and melee aspect.

Well when I first built this toon which is currently level 9, I was going for battle cleric. However, since I am semi new to the game still learning the little things like what goes with what and so forth, I failed to pay attention to certain requirements like the 20 wisdom for Epic Mummy Dust. I am hoping to lock my build down via this thread since all of you here have such good knowledge. So I am going to forgo the battle cleric and do the spell casting route with a focus on conjuration and such. Any input is welcome and appreciated.

Alright. Just curious, mate.

Judging my the change in the build you made, it looks to be a caster now. Since you are level 9, there isn't much room for change. Your wisdom will be a bit low for a caster cleric. Usually when going battle cleric you end on 20 wisdom which is the minimum if you want epic spells. 26, 28, and 30 are the more common numbers to end on for a caster.

I'll just advice you to take epic spell focus on your ranger level, epic mummy dust on level 21 and save your last cleric level (22) for the 24th level (where you have KC (2) currently). Then you will be able to fetch greater ruin too, or perhaps epic dragon knight, which should be helpful with epic conjuration focus.

Normally it is preferrable to pick more cleric levels when going the caster route, as your offensive spells will be more powerful, last longer, be harder to dispel etc..

Hope it helps.

Makes sense. I am taking the 5 kc levels as more of a rp tool then anything otherwise I would go more cleric. Thanks for your help.

Take 4 levels of KC before reaching lvl 20 for an extra attack!
With KC you are pretty flexible as a cleric.
You'll do fine melee and as caster with the right spell selection.

You see thats the part that confuses me. If I take four levels of KC prior to 20, then my Cleric levels wont hit epic until later in the game and I can not take as much epic wise right?

Are you making a caster cleric, or a melee cleric? Can't help until you pick one. Do note conjuration won't help you very much if you wanted to be a caster.

Sure it does. Mass Heal vs undead, Storm of Vengeance, larger length on EDK or EMD. Conjuration is one of the best ones along with Evocation.

Yeah if you don't have evoking though conjuration is a poor choice.

That's what I mean. If you're a casting cleric without evocation you may as well not bother, as all of your best spells are tied to that spell school. Conjuration is an alright secondary spell focus but I'd rather the feats elsewhere.

OK! Then this is what I'd do.

Cleric 23/KC 5

STR: 10
DEX: 10
CON: 12
INT: 14 (16 with drow)
WIS: 18 > 26
CHA: 08 (10 with drow)

(1) Cleric (1): Extend Spell
(2) Cleric (2):
(3) Cleric (3): Toughness
(4) Cleric (4): +1 Wisdom (19)
(5) Cleric (5):
(6) Cleric (6): Skill Focus: Discipline
(7) Cleric (7):
(8) Cleric (8): +1 Wisdom (20)
(9) Cleric (9): Maximise Spell
(10) Cleric (10):
(11) Cleric (11):
(12) Cleric (12): Spell Focus: Evocation, +1 Wisdom (21)
(13) KC (1):
(14) KC (2):
(15) Cleric (13): Greater Spell Focus: Evocation
(16) KC (3): +1 Wisdom (22)
(17) KC (4):
(18) Cleric (14): Silent Spell
(19) Cleric (15):
(20) Cleric (16): +1 Wisdom (23)
(21) Cleric (17): Epic Spell Focus: Evocation
(22) Cleric (18):
(23) Cleric (19):
(24) Cleric (20): Epic Skill Focus: Listen, +1 Wisdom (24)
(25) Cleric (21):
(26) Cleric (22):
(27) Cleric (23): Epic Mummy Dust, Great Wis I (25)
(28) KC (5): +1 Wisdom (26)

Use final KC level to max Discipline and Listen. It isn't perfect but with a +2 ECL and KC levels it's a bit weird. It'll still be viable in typical PvM or PvP situations, anyoo.

If you don't want to bother with Listen, take either Armor Skin or Epic Fortitude instead. You could jiggle about KC levels into epic so you could take Greater Ruin in that feat slot, but I don't think it's worth it.

So I had the idea for a Drow male that could be particularly nasty. I'm fairly certain the important feats and skills are covered. I had a free pre-epic feat so I shoved in Great Fortitude. Let me know what you think:

Fighter(10), Knight Commander(5), Weapon Master(13), Drow

STR: 16 (22)
DEX: 13
CON: 11 (12)
WIS: 10
INT: 16
CHA: 14

01: Fighter(1): Dodge, Mobility
02: Fighter(2): Weapon Focus: Longsword
03: Fighter(3): Expertise
04: Fighter(4): CON+1, Weapon Specialization: Longsword, (CON=12)
06: Fighter(6): Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack
07: Weapon Master(1): Weapon of Choice: Longsword
08: Weapon Master(2): STR+1, (STR=17)
09: Weapon Master(3): Toughness
12: Weapon Master(6): STR+1, Skill Focus: Discipline, (STR=18)
15: Fighter(8): Great Fortitude, Improved Critical
16: Knight Commander(1): STR+1, (STR=19)
18: Weapon Master(8): Blind Fight
20: Weapon Master(10): STR+1, (STR=20)
21: Knight Commander(3): Epic Weapon Focus: Longsword
24: Knight Commander(4): STR+1, Epic Fortitude, (STR=21)
26: Fighter(10): Epic Weapon Specialization: Longsword
27: Knight Commander(5): Epic Prowess
28: Weapon Master(13): STR+1, Armor Skin, (STR=22)

Discipline 31(40), Heal 20(20), Intimidate 23(25), Lore 4(7), Persuade 4(6), Spot 31(33), Taunt 30(32)

Hitpoints: 336
Skillpoints: 155
Saving Throws (Fortitude/Will/Reflex): 23/12/14

Now, a few things:
1) Yes, 22 STR, I know. 26 would be nice, but still ends with 47 AB with a +5 weapon and +12 STR gear
2) Intimidate was added at the end, he is supposed to be a more imposing figure, though, and I needed somewhere to stick 19 skill points haha.
3) I know 16 WM is preferable, but it's not possible on this build when trying to net the 5 KC and the right amount of feats.
4) I was going to go for 14 DEX but the +2 DEX mod wouldn't do anything, so I opted for 11 CON and added a +1 bump on the first level. Figured the additional HP was better early on rther than taking it at level 28.
5) Did I herp a anywhere?

16 Fighter/5 KC/7 WM is far better.

You really don't need 14 Cha, and using one of your ability points into Con... uh, well. Don't. I mean, even in that build there, you could have put it into Str instead and then took Great STR I instead of Epic Prowess for far more with absolutely no downside.

Anyway, have another crack at it with 16/5/7 instead and less CHA. You have two extra feats spare so even with the lack of a 13th WM level you'll end up with more AB. You also have no Tumble, which kind of makes me want to cry. It's worth taking Tumble in nearly every situation ever, even if you must crossclass it.

And take Knockdown instead of Great Fortitude.

The CHA was pretty much just for the KC abilities, though a few points of CHA gear can offset that if needed. It's not going to be +12 CHA or anything haha.

I would like Epic Prowess, but I see that point of +2 STR = +1 AB/dmg, which is even better.

Hah, Knockdown is what I was forgetting. I know there was a spare feat for some reason.

Are you talking about taking a couple Great STR feats to bump the AB by +2?

--------------------------------------

Anyways, here's the result!

STR: 17 (26)
DEX: 13
CON: 10
WIS: 10
INT: 16
CHA: 12

01: Fighter(1): Dodge, Mobility
02: Fighter(2): Weapon Focus: Longsword
03: Fighter(3): Expertise
04: Fighter(4): STR+1, Weapon Specialization: Longsword, (STR=18)
06: Fighter(6): Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack
07: Weapon Master(1): Weapon of Choice: Longsword
08: Weapon Master(2): STR+1, (STR=19)
09: Weapon Master(3): Knockdown
12: Weapon Master(6): STR+1, Toughness, (STR=20)
14: Fighter(8): Improved Critical
15: Fighter(9): Skill Focus: Discipline
16: Knight Commander(1): STR+1, (STR=21)
18: Knight Commander(3): Blind Fight
20: Fighter(10): STR+1, Improved Knockdown, (STR=22)
21: Fighter(11): Great Strength I, (STR=23)
22: Fighter(12): Epic Weapon Focus: Longsword
24: Fighter(14): STR+1, Great Strength II, Armor Skin, (STR=25)
26: Fighter(16): Epic Weapon Specialization: Longsword
27: Knight Commander(5): Epic Fortitude
28: Weapon Master(7): STR+1, (STR=26)

Discipline 31(42), Intimidate 13(14), Lore 4(7), Persuade 4(5), Spot 31(33), Taunt 30(31), Tumble 15(16)

Hitpoints: 308
Skillpoints: 155
Saving Throws (Fortitude/Will/Reflex): 21/13/14

Alternatively, I can swap IKD for Great Fort.
Also, I'm coming up with the same AB as the other one, unless I did something different than what you were thinking:

Before, 24 BAB + 6 STR mod + 6 STR gear mod + 5 enhancement + 3 WF/EWF + 2 WM bonus + 1 Epic Prowess
Now, 24 BAB + 8 STR mod + 8 STR gear mod + 5 enhancement + 3 WF/EWF + 1 WM bonus

The only thing I can think of is that I could move all the KC levels to pre-epic and then get the tenth fighter level feat in epic to hit up Epic Prowess as well.

The issue is that I wanted to spread the KC levels out to represent the progression of the character's development as a leader in battle, rather than lump them together like everyone does. In addition, there is no way to max Taunt (as that is pretty important to the KC, as far as I can see) without slotting the last KC level at the end.

edit: Looking back I see only one KC feature is affected by Taunt. I thought there was another. So, then, perhaps there is not a huge need for that skill to be maxed.
Also, apparently moving the Fighter and KC level drops the ending base Fort save to 20. Interesting.

That was the idea, yeah, though IKD is a nice choice too.

Anyway, Armor Skin is a better choice than Epic Fortitude on this build. Looks good otherwise!

It has both Armor Skin and Epic Fort ;p
Is 16 Fort good enough, though? Without Epic Fort, that's the base save. I suppose I could get enough save gear, just curiosity. I could swap the levels back and take IKD or just swap Epic Fort for Epic Prowess :3

Ah, yeah, missed that. Take Epic Prowess instead of Epic Fortitude then. You've taken two Fort-favoured classes pre-epic, so you'll be fine.
