Alright, this is odd. I think it's clear to the majority of the player base by now that a certain chicken has a flaming hate for all Asian armor and weapons. But I've just noticed a couple of odd additions to the halberds that contradict this hate.
We have a Glaive and Naginata weapons model added to the hak.
So this begs the question that one must ask themselves. Is Disco's stance changing? Since we have both weapons, perhaps we will see more additions in the future. The most important question of all is this however. Will Disco be dying his hair blue, eating noodles, and squeeing over cartoon men with oversized swords now?
I'm scared.
On a serious note however, where these added by mistake? Or is it just that Disco doesn't know they are Asian weapons and originate in China. Or where they added because there are no real additions in the community to the Halberd without them? They do seem to contradict the stance that no Asian armor and weapons will be added to the module.
That is all.

Wikipedia wrote: A glaive is a European polearm weapon, consisting of a single-edged blade on the end of a pole. It is similar to the Japanese naginata and the Chinese Guan Dao.
Typically, the blade was around 45 cm (18 inches) long, on the end of a pole 2 m (6 or 7 feet) long, and the blade was affixed in a socket-shaft configuration similar to an axe head, rather than having a tang like a sword or naginata. Occasionally glaive blades were created with a small hook on the reverse side to better catch riders. Such blades are called glaive-guisarmes.
According to the 1599 treatise Paradoxes of Defense by the English gentleman George Silver, the glaive is used in the same general manner as the quarterstaff, half pike, bill, halberd, voulge, or partisan. Silver rates this class of polearms above all other individual hand-to-hand combat weapons. Glaive is European, not Asian.

I think the few asian-esque looking things in the pak are just things he figured could look good anywhere.
And as much as it might pain him, a few extra models for katana, kama, and kukri would not kill anyone or make the server go japanese. No one's asking for freaking kimonos and geta. Just when about every other weapon model in the game has gotten a few new appearances(barring ranged weapons), it's not that out of place to ask.

I just think all that Asian stuff should be avoided. Oh I remember the horrible days when every other character walked around with dual katanas and spoke stereotypical Wapanese one liners from anime movies! "Konnichiwa, kakawaaka chun chun hai matamoto!"

*Still has his Drow Duel weilding Katana WM.*
And I never knew a glaive was european. Well blow me down. That's what I get for taking Romance of Three Kingdoms as my historical source of chinese history!

Yea, but I the design being so similar is very odd.
I assumed it was fundamentally a Chinese weapon.

As *rofl-giggle* ~multicultural~ as Amia is, I think folks from the Kara-Tur would be less likely to raise the eyebrow of the locals than say, a big winged purple demon-guy with ~hoofs blacker than night~ and ~eyes that tell the tale of his terrors~. Then again...

Almost all races of man had some variation of this idea, be it a spear or something else.

And ONE in particular you're talking about. If it occurred it was before I came to Amia. I'm going with Tormak on this one.

Mind that the specific time hasn't been mentioned, and that you (have) played in a different time zone than Tutteri. Why would he say there was a time with lots of typical Wapanese anime characters, if there really wasn't? Even I can recall many.

has been said before but nunchucks. wapan-ia is not going to occur from custom models, and i've not seen a vast, true interest in players creating kara-tur and the like.
I ended up with a third character focusing on bastard swords purely to avoid katana's, a few more weapons here and there, if possible, wouldn't hurt.
hm, that said light flail is pretty much a sort of chuck...uh, which sort of glaive we talking about here? google is showing me halberd style stuff which I thought was a glaive, and also 5 pointed sickly star things, like yuffie from ff7...
ed: naginata = sword tipped spears =) i do approve. that one -is- of asian background.

Gah, for frick's sake, does it matter? Put em back in your pants gentlemen and step away from the measuring tape.
Katana, Kukri, and Kama models. I'll be on the lookout for decent ones that aren't anime-ish and legit. We already have hak alt-models for every melee weapon, except like double-axe, diremace and two-bladed sword.

The point is that the two of you play in seperate time zones and thus cannot simply see everything the other sees. For instance, we had no idea there was Dwarven activity in Barak Runedar, which was before the Barak Runedar forum, meanwhile the Europeans were asleep. We aren't even speaking of any official faction sorta things or some daft Amian fad, but that we both recall a period when there were tonnes of those Asian ninjamen with dualkatanas running around. Besides, why would he say there was a time with lots of typical Wapanese anime characters, if there really wasn't? Well, this is just a silly thing to squabble on, I'm dropping it here, dear.

And Im pretty sure Tormie posted in another Kura-tur on how the amian playerbase has come a long way from the anime-char "^_^" spamming players it used to be into a somewhat more mature group.
