Lords of Darkness has some Order of the Dark Moon stuff. A monk Order I believe.

Lords of Darkness wrote:

The monks of the Dark Moon are an elite sect of sharran agents. They serve the Mistress of the Night by carrying out tasks that she prefers not to assign to her ordinary clergy. From their temples located in the lands where evil rules the day as well as the night, monks of the Dark Moon strike at Shar's enemies with lightning swiftness and terrifying leathality. Whether her whim is espionage, sabotage, or murder, the Lady of Loss can be certain that her monastic order undertakes to fulfill it with extraordinary zeal. The monks of the Dark Moon have proven to be shar's ace in the hole on a number of occasions, most particulary when fighting against her hated sister, Selune, and her rival, the deity Loviatar.

3.0 Sword and Fist has some interesting stuff to.

I can't really find much else oddly enough.

Well how about pixie familiar.. I do assume they can talk and imps and faerie dragon can speak too. Theres been one faerie dragon, at least, in NWN that could talk. Master Drognas familiar if I remember the name right.

Hmm...

pseudo dragons arent real dragons?

pseudo = false
dragon = dragon

pseudodragon = falsedragon

Just an observation I've made.

The mephits can talk too, I think.

Pseudodragons typically have bodies about one foot long, with a two foot tail and weigh about 7 lbs. They can communicate telepathically and also through the vocalization of animal noises. While pseudodragons can bite, their main weapon is a stinging, poison tail and they have chameleon like abilities, though their color is usually a brownish red.

They're technically classed as dragons though racially.

I would like to know about druids. I know druids need a god to do their spells but how about faerie druid?

What I have understood faeries can pull and use the enviroment around them to cast the spells as I RP it. And I hate the idea of needing god for faerie to cast spells.... I dont want a gooood! Please I need something that says "nope you dont need one"

but Druid spells are *specifically* labelled "Divine."

From Campaign Setting:
Quote:
Old Order (Neutral, Sometimes good, Rarely Evil): Monks of the Old Order do not worship any deity, but are devoted to the philosophy espoused by a diety who is either now dead, or has never existed on the Material Plane of Toril. The Monks contradict themselves on this point, but the deity's identity isn't important to them, it's the message they care about. The Old Order never has huge monastaries, but has spread widely throughout Faerun. Monks of the Old Order can multiclass freely as rogues, sorcerers, and shadowdancers, but must maintain more monk levels than their combined levels of other classes.

So, We've got a monk order with little centralization, based mostly in the wilderness devoted to a "philosophy", and apparently don't mind being a bit sneaky. The question is, does anyone know what this philosophy actually is? They care about a message by from a dead or non-existent god, but.. it doesn't actually say what that message consists of.

So the question is, is there an actual Old Order 'dogma' (philosophy, Modus Operandi, whatever) that the FR book just neglected to actually mention, or does it vary depending on the monk and its teacher? I.e. they are so decentralized that different masters may have different views and all are just under the "Old Order" umbrella?

I really like the concept, but I cant seem to figure out if the Old Order actually has a group philosophy, or if that was FR's way of making a catch-all so players could import their own RL philosophies..(zen, etc)

I always kind of wondered about that.. if druids are required to have a deity to cast their spells, why does said deity have both clerics and druids, and why would they be granted different powers?

Possiable answer is the old Obad-hai thing. I believe he was a human diety to nature whom had both druid worshippers and nature based clerics. But I believe it's strickly DnD and not FR.

That:

Quote:
Magic that originates from a spell-granting deity, usually through prayer, is divine in nature and is called the Power by the common folk. Clerics, druids, paladins, rangers and many prestige classes all derive their spells and spell-like abilities from a deity. A practitioner of the Power has no affinity with the Art, as their spells are planted in their minds directly by their patron deity, and they do not tap the Weave. Casting divine spells is more like an exclamation of faith that brings about a sensation appropriate to the patron deity to whom the faith was devoted.

I'd say when it comes to nature deities, clerics and druids are very similiar, the origin and character background seperates them. A druid might be a person who was raised in the woods and all that, where a cleric might have been a city guy and then became faithful to that god for whatever reason. The cleric might be more inclined to spread the faith than the druid.

Druids are also bound by their oath. A cleric also adheres to the dogma of the deity to receive spells and all that, but they are not as restricted as the druid, me thinks.

If you look at the description of Silvanus, there are some differences between druids and cleric. You have to look from the other side: every god has clerics, but nature deities also have druids/rangers they grant spells.

Druids seek to understand the living, dynamic world of nature and life.

Nature is a more complex reality than even the deities that created it can fully understand, much less intelligent mortals. For a druid, a patron deity is a spiritual guide, and an intermediary between nature as a whole and the individual druid. The particular deity that a druid follows shapes the druid's perception of nature, but it is nature that the druid ultimately serves, not the deity.

Intelligent beings, to druids, are perpetual crises, always threatening to disrupt "the Balance" in their willful blindness to nature. Ironically, it is up to intelligent beings to protect and restore that balance. Whether intelligent beings are themselves part of nature, or inherently aberrations that are more trouble then they're worth, is a matter of profound controversy among druids, and blood has been shed in the course of the debate more than once.

Druids distrust abstract ideals. They are, in a sense, invaders from outside the prime material, outside the living world. Intelligent beings tend to be entirely too concerned with matters like Justice, Honor, Freedom, Hatred, Domination, and Vengeance, and this can blind them to the complex living reality in which they live. Intelligent beings following their ideals disrupt the balance of nature much the way that clearing a road disrupts a forest.

Druids see some clerics, particularly those of nature deities, as allies, even if too involved in the politics and turmoil of the cities. Clerics are civilization incarnate, and many clerics are sentience at its worst: devotion to false ideals that utterly blind them to the real world. Clerics are absorbed in preparing for an endgame, while druids try to prevent the game of life from ever ending. Monks are almost incomprehensible to druids: their devotion to abstract ideals make them almost completely alien to the natural world.

So, in a nutshell ... Are Cleric/Druids with a focus on Cleric possible on Amia? Would any deities fit useful domains like Magic, Travel, Healing or maybe Trickery? And could the Cleric/Druid wear a full plate or is that too much to ask?

(My idea would be a neutral good cleric that knows about herbs etc to aid in healing. Maybe not just a spiritual shepherd but a real one, too, to sustain his life in a Ffolk village that doesn't really appreciate its cleric ;o) Well, he's leaving his hometown at level 1 anyway and that could just as well be a druid level and he then "converts" to the city life of a cleric.)

Thanks!
Ts

I believe there is one nature god that allows clerics.. Or i might be remembering wrong.

And no, the likelihood of those domains coinciding with that is fairly miniscule.

Im curious about cleric druid mixes too.

I know that Lolth is an ally of Malar, and I've often wondered whether a Malarite druid with one level of Lolthite cleric would be a reasonable thing to make? It would basically be a Malarite druid, but with a level of cleric to show its commitment to Lolth under the alliance the two gods have.

Just wondering how you could actually play a drow druid and still be acceptable into Lolthite society, but I don't know if its possible to worship two deities in this way.

Lolth and Malar don't like each other much, its an alliance, but nothing more. Lolth has tricked Malar a couple times. A druid/cleric of Malar/Lolth is unlikely, if you ask me.

If you can somehow convince Lolthites that your all cleric and not druid and that you worship Lolth, not Malar, sure. If you can't, start shopping for a new city to live in or a grave sight :P

And I would think that gods, at least the evil ones, dont want to share clerics with each others.. Lolth dont like Malar as it is said, it is only alliance against the Seldarine. If there wouldnt be the Seldarine Lolth would propaply war against Malar. So. If you really want to be commited to two evil gods, I highly doupt that you will raise in cleric ranks as High Priest etc.. Because there is those that are fully commited to their god/desses

I wouldnt even consider making two sided cleric/druid, you can respect the other but you most likely choose either one to be "better" god/dess.

Being a Cleric / Druid is impossible unless they're both of the same deity (You're a Druidic Cleric of Silvanus, for example, that'd be kosher). Edit In - As to why. You can only be a Cleric or Druid of your patron deity, and you can only have one patron deity.

I'd imagine the main difference is simply how said magic is utilized. But Cleric / Druids, as funky as they'd be, I don't think would be out of place as long as it was still to one deity and one deity alone.

now thats a very interesting concept. druid/cleric of a god/ess. how would you divide your time more with nature of more with dogma of your deity?...

Thanks, WonWon. I was thinking the same deity, which for me most likely would be the Earth Mother whose name I can't spell ;) I just wondered if this would be as frowned upon as Druid/Monks.

@oshizo2: I don't really see a problem how a Cleric/Druid should split up his working hours. First of all, he's in service of his deity, no matter if he's working in a temple or in a forest. Of course, fellow Clerics and Druids might think otherwise and two half-time jobs add up to a 3/2-time job ...

Anyway, thanks!

Hokie. So I've been thinking about a new character, a Cleric type with the Travel domain.

Shaundakul is the patron deity.

I have, however, absolutely no idea how to play a cleric of this deity, because its accepted alignmants are CG CE CN.

How the hells do I play a CG cleric if a cleric of the same deity is CE? doesnt that mean I'm in conflict with and will kill on sight a member of my own clergy? Whaa?

I'd bet a CE cleric of Shaundakul is very rare indeed and 99% are CN or CG. Read his dogma and CE is basically going against everything he stands for.

Also I love you

Can anyone post me a link to some elven songs, if there are any :) And perhaps give me some idea of what things elfs usually sing about.

So:

1. A link to elven songs ((if there is any))

2. Ideas for elven songs and what they sing about. ((About anything, war, defense, love, nature etc.. ))

3. Ah and what kind of voice might female moon elf have?

Note: I am rather bad coming up with lyrics of a song so that is why I am asking,

I haven't found any actual elven songs, but sun elves generally sing long, serious and solemn songs of legends, history and so forth. Their religious ceremonies include hymns, IIRC. Moon elves do all that long-winded elven stuff too, though their ceremonies are more like revels, and they do sing lighter stuff too. Love, nature and history are probably the main themes, with some drinking songs and war themes on the side. If I only remember, I'll look into it more next weekend. Either way, the harp is the dominant elven instrument.

There's something I've been wondering about for awhile now, and hopefully there's a few drow buffs around that can answer this.

1) What do the other drow deities think of drider?
2) Will groups of drow following other gods associate with them?
3) Is it possible for drider clerics to exist?
4) If so which gods would actually accept them?

If anyone could answer any of these questions I'll appreciate it greatly.

~Edited to number questions.

Driders are actually outcasts from drow society, a curse from Lolth herself for doing something nasty or failing in a task. They are a reminder what can befall you when you do not please se spider godess or one of her priests.

http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Drider

Quote:
Driders still maintain the spells and special abilities they had developed as a drow, thus there can exist any character class of drider. They retain intelligence and memories.

Dunno if any god grants them spells (Urdlen maybe?). Also, in one of Salvatores drow novels he described drider, but they were just shells of their former personality, thats a bit contradicting there.

These are not cannon sources, but they are elven songs, mainly based from toliken's works but they can be used to give you some ideas.

Parma Tyelpelassiva- A site that detials a bunch of songs, including some that are actually sung.

Talanithus Tarant- Another site that detials songs and poems about the elves.

I hope that helps you, Magiros.

Ok, masters of lore, I have an RP concept that I am submitting to you to see if it is both palatable and possible. Lemme know if it works:

I am making a Ghostwise halfling, follower of Silvanus, but one who is so rigid in his anti-civilization belief that he does not just want to prevent the expansion of civilzation, but he ultimately wants to undermine and collapse civilization altogether, by whatever means possible, and restore the earth to the 'purity' of nature. Of ocurse, this extreme firmly plants his heart more in the 'chaotic evil' sector, and thus is ultimately displeasing to Silvanus. As a result, in his pursuit to be a druid (as a self-respecting ghostwise would do), Silvanus will not grant him Druidic abilities. Here's where it gets fun, though...

Arcane abilities being extremely rare in Ghostwise society, when he discovers his abilities as a sorcerer (I am playing him as a sorcerer, not druid), he is fully convinced that it emanates not from himself, but from Silvanus and is simply a different manifestation of druidic abilities. (Of course, that MUST mean that Silvanus has a different purpose in mind for him than a typical druid... but that plays into a sort of self-indulgent delusion that grows in relation to his abilities as a sorcerer).

So my question is this... within the confines of lore and in regard to classes, is it possible to have a sorcerer who firmly believes that he is, in fact, a druid?

It's a fun idea, similar to one I'd tried at one time, until someone says "You darn goob, you're a sorcerer" If you want to keep the RP from being squished this way, better make him crazy or it won't last very long. Expect people to spend their time trying to convince your character that they're not a druid, but a sorcerer -out of the goodness of their hearts, mind you.

yeah, I already ran into that. But then, I kinda figured that I am a ghostwise halfling, and so I am distrustful of other races anyway. And my own tribe? Poor guys just didn;t understand, and were likely a bit jealous that Silvanus appointed me with this special task...

I spent time with a human hunting in the sewers, and he went on for the first part of the trek thinking I was lying to him expecting him to believe such a stupid thing... and then, when he realized that I was serious, spent teh rest of the time trying to convince me I was a sorcerer. I spent my time muttering about the stupid tall folk and how they think they know everything... :D Was actually kinda fun.

Oriental Adventures is probably a good place to start. Unfortunately, the Draconomicon doesn't cover Lungs in any way shape or form, so you're out of luck there.

Lung Dragons

Yu lung 6/9/12 +1/+2/+3 Copper

Pan lung 13 +4 Black

Li lung 14 +6 Green

all lung dragons are yu lung for their first 25 years of
life (through the young age category). When a yu lung
reaches juvenile age, it transforms into a different variety of
dragon. Because of their high juvenile Hit Dice and level
adjustment, many lung dragons have ECLs higher than 20
at the juvenile stage and thus are not mentioned on this
table. These varieties include the shen lung, chiang lung,
tun mi lung, lung wang, and t’ien lung. The Hit Dice and
level adjustment listings for the pan lung and li lung are for
juveniles only.

The lung dragons, presented in Oriental Adventures, are a
special case. Many either don’t have breath weapons or lack
immunities (or both), so half-dragons descended from these
parents gain special attacks and special qualities as noted on
the Lung Half-Dragons table below

Lung Half-Dragons
Dragon Variety Special Abilities
Chiang lung Water breathing, cause rain (see text)
Li lung Roar (see text), burrow 10 ft.
Lung wang Water breathing, immunity to fire, cone of
steam (fire) breath weapon (6d10, DC 18)
Pan lung Water breathing, water fire (see text)
Shen lung Water breathing, immunity to electricity and
poison, water fire (see text)
T’ien lung Water breathing, cone of fire breath weapon
(6d10; DC 18)
Tun mi lung Water breathing, air and water immunity
Yu lung Water breathing

Water Fire (Su): Three
times per day, a half-pan
lung or half-shen lung touching
or submerged in water can surround
itself in an aura of
ghostly, flickering, multicolored
flames that cause
damage to any creature
touching it. Any creature
striking the half-dragon
with a natural weapon or a
melee weapon deals normal damage, but
at the same time the attacker takes 1d6
points of fire damage. Lung dragons and
half-lung dragons are immune to water fire.
The water fire lasts for 1 minute or until it
comes in contact with normal or magical fire.
