Quote: As for True Ressurection, I believe that Amia-specific rules were installed in order to discourage the spell use, perhaps due to assumption that it is not RP-generating. [/i] True Res costs were added since the very high level of power + wealth amia has makes spending 25k gold to ressurect anyone anywhere anytime for no reason a pittance.

Yep, and I am in total agreement with that.
I'd like to see that enforced all of the time.

That's what I figured ;p But some people are saying that they haven't had to pay any XP, so it's probably being overlooked haha.

It is also basically the only thing that can bring a PC back from what might otherwise be a Permadeath. No body, no idea where or when they died, no problem. That is assuming nothing of significant power is blocking the effort.

I've ran into the particular problem a few times where I should burn the body, but the target has absolutely noone who'd ever care to have a True Resurrection cast. Can't enforce permadeath, but my character wouldn't leave the body around. Quite a pinch.

Well, I think they came up with a lot of creative solutions to this with the necromancers we killed over the years. It works until you do it for the tenth time and start running out of excuses why you wouldn't be extra-thorough this time around.

Funny, I was thinking about this a few months back. This is sort of where I was going with it: - First off you have to figure out the pc's ecl - Compare the pc's ecl and the critter's ecl. - If the critter's ecl is less than the pc's ecl by 'x' (whatever the determined amount is) than alter xp earned to 0 - If ecl difference is above 'x' than award the one xp - For every 'y' (again a number to be determined but something like 10,000ish was my guess) xp above ecl 30 earned then the pc gets +1 to skills.
This, I thought, might be a neat way to encourage people to stay alive once they reach max ecl as well as give them a good reason to really not want to die. Currently unless you are carrying a ton of gold, there is no deterrent to using the respawn button.

At the same time the powerbuilds simply have an advantage and now taking advantage over me picking up Epic Skill Focus Spellcraft for RP reasons for an example.

Also, spellcasters who burn XP with PnP spells, etc, are put at an additional disadvantage with this proposal.

[hardcore]I think having OOC safe levels is already far more of a boon than anything <.< Any XP over 30 to me, is just unneccessary, and not really a viable sacrifice towards any Spell costs for XP. Any further enhancements, I'm not personally in favor of, as we are already powerful enough as it is. A sacrifice implies that you are giving up something, not parting with something completely useless.[/hardcore]

It has happened.
But my response was in regard to increasing skill points for XP past 30

Start casting divination's or the right spells and you find paying a price often.

Currently unless you are carrying a ton of gold, there is no deterrent to using the respawn button. Not terribly keen on this. Might as well just raise the level cap to 40 imo (which honestly wouldn't break anything). But yeah, open-ended reasons to have level 30s out there grinding would mean level 30s out there grinding dungeons forever as opposed to roleplaying or other things (personally I enjoy sponsoring other player characters... ah, another apprentice!). Not to mention it disrupts the flow of the server terribly as you'd now have a reason for -everyone- to be out in the content fighting for claim to it. I'd think as a game designer I'd nor want to see a max level PC out there grinding away in every epic dungeon while a group of level 21s sit at the entrance of say Illithid now having to deal with this.

While the XP for skills isn't a bad idea, eventually you're going to have to work on a lot of balancing to make up for players having epic-high skills, which in turn would make it harder for people with less skills to overcome those obstacles.

I never said it was a perfect system lol. The idea was to create a reward for not using the respawn. I've watched as time and time again level 30 (or ecl 30) characters respawn without a second thought because let's face it if a loot bin +4 item sells for 20-25k you really have nothing to worry about unless you are carrying more than half a million gold.
