I have not yet been able to get into the game, having to totally redo my home computer and that is taking some time. However, I have some questions I hope that will help me get started.

1) Are there any boxes or containers in the game?

I have seen many servers with and many without them....magic or otherwise.

2) Is there a banking system?

This would be where you could store items and gold so you don't lose them or can sell them later.

3) Can you get personal housing in any way?

Meaning can you buy or otherwise get a home or temple or wizard's tower...etc...and customize it?

4) Changing appearance of items?

How hard or easy is it to do this? Can you do it to anything or can you just do it to crafted items made with the skill sets? Also, can you rename items?

5) Mounts?

I have found a few servers that actually had mounts you could ride and/or use as pack mules. Can that be done here?

***

Think that is enough for the moment. Forgive me not being able to know this from being in game, I am trying to get it going at home and should be able to tonight I hope. Having to uninstall alot of programs first....yarg...

And thank you for the warm welcomes and answers. That is a HUGE plus in my book for the community.

Lastly, if anyone would want some help, scripts or anything I have collected over the years I freely offer all the wealth (or junk depending) I have saved up over some 5-10 years of doing NwN...this includes entire servers that are gone away now.

One in particular I liked was one that had 2 very unique things...

A library where you could get EXP (small amounts) for studying and the same place had a system to actually create golems and use them as pets/summons.

There were 3-4 kinds, level restricted and you had to buy the parts, be able to summon a certain level of spell and then there were healing kits to repair them (they did not repair on their own).

I've never seen it elsewhere....but the RP was fantastic...from flesh to adamantite and between. If I remember correctly there were 5...

Flesh
Stone
Iron
Mithril
Adamantite

Anyway...figured I would offer....and thanks again for the welcome and help.

2) Yes, items only

3) Yep, you can rent homes for up to a mounth at a time which you can customize at will

4) The craft menu lets you change items appearences on your character. And rename things usuing the scribe job (check the job system on the sidebar)

5) No Mounts here 'mafraid.

thanks...and 4 out of 5 ain't bad...heh

Honestly, the mounts were more for carrying ore and other things for the crafting system though you did get a slight speed boost.

Is the rent a monthly amount of in game gold? Can you keep your customizations so long as you keep it rented?

Again, thanks for the fast reply.

1) Are there any boxes or containers in the game?
Yes, the server has bags and boxes that can be bought, bags of holding which are (I think, don't take my word on it!) loot drops, and bags that can be made via trade skills.

2) Is there a banking system?
Not for gold, as far as I'm aware. There is an Item storage system in place that can be accessed from several cities within the game.

3) Can you get personal housing in any way?
Yes, there are two types of player housing. One type has signs which indicate Small, Medium or Large. These are pre-furnished and are fairly short term rentals. There are also rentable houses which range from a real-time week to a real time month. These houses include a widget that lets you put down placables and hand out keys to other player characters.

4) Changing appearance of items?
The crafting option from the radial menu allows you to customize armor/clothing and weapon/shield appearances. Certain job skills allow for further options. You can also make Dream Coin requests for special appearances for items.

5) Mounts?
Nope!

Hope that helps some!

You can either pick it to be a monthly fee or uhm.. it was either 1 or 2 weeks.

You can re-decorate and reset the appearance any time you like while rented.

There are 3 different seizes you can rent. The bigger the more expensive of course.

There is also the Trader job you can pick. It let's you create a chest for all your ore etc, so no carrying horses needed!

Bags of Holding are not loot drops. However, they, and other containers, are available for purchase.

And yes, we offer 1-4 in some capacity or another. Mounts aren't something we support.

Thanks once again to all. The community here is impressive....much like Minsk used to say...

And I will say the jobs system is very nice...and the first time I have seen it anywhere.

The appearance of your home should also remain stored in whatever tech-stuff binds it to your character even after the rent expires, so if you rent the same-sized house again you can restore the set-up. I'm pretty sure I could do that when my rent expired and I didn't immediately renew it, anyhow.

The numbers might seem extremely large.....its borked, really, the GP economy, but its only natural when a character can collect huge amounts of GP at will from killing mooks.

A one reset prebuilt rent is around ~5k?

A proper rental varies between 50k (1 small room/15plcs for 1 week) and 1m (1 small + 1 large room/45plcs for 1 month).

Last I saw, anyways. You can see all the prices if you can find a rental door that isn't occupied.

Yeah, I have seen some of the prices in the auction area today...

I came from a server that basically capped you gold based on your level and anything over that was "taxed" away plus you had to pay for your level training.

And we got hardly anything for things we sold too. Something that might cost 200k (which was super uber) would sell for 20k. And that was level 20+ stuff.

Once I get in I will get used to things I hope fairly easily.

Yeah, there are probably some reasonable ways of affecting the GP thing. However, its not going to change. Established characters have huge wallets and stocks of powerful items, putting some sort of limit on things would be unfair on new characters who could never hope to compete. Its the sort of thing that could only be implemented with a vault wipe....and, well, the history of the server and its characters is more important. We just handwave it. Pretend that this is somehow normal. Or pretend we're dealing with some sort of exchange rate issue. Something like that. Doesn't really affect things, generally, beyond taking the "Pay lots of GPs!" solution away from the list of possible answers to whatever problem a DM wants to throw at you. :?

Heh...I understand.

And having alot of GP don't mean its a bad thing. Just kinda makes the stores not so important and well, they are mostly to sell the things you keep.

Besides, adventurers can be "taxed" without warning too...heh...DMs can have sticky fingers.

Some house can be rented for 2K GP, until reset, as well.

Hi Simeron,

Welcome to Amia, it will be good to see you in game soon.
The mounts question just reminded me of something.

5) Mounts?
Nope!

Hmmm.. Interesting. On my second day in amia, whilst fighting ghouls, zombies and skeletons in the moribound cemetery, I was saved from an embarrassing death by a mounted lady, she seemed lowish level, and as we RP'ed our way through the crypts, with her on her pony (a pony in the crypt?) with another PC and I on foot, I thought I'm going to get me one of them.. Weird! Never seen her since or another mounted person... Maybe a DM having some fun? I wish I had got a screenshot of it now.

Cheers

Eroki

Heh...well at least it will smack me too...*wink*....

The training was XXX gold per level and it was graduated so, it wasn't to bad.

What really hurt was for epic levels you had to do DM quests EACH LEVEL that involved running all over the server to find the "Hermit"...an NPC that moved every day to one of 6 locations across the server (well, per reset) and then the DM that took your Epic quest would RP and do the quest with you.

You could bring all the friends you wanted mind you but, as the server population dropped, well, it got to be a tad...difficult to get that next level.

The level cap was 40 on there too but progression was EXTREMELY slow....

Nah, because it doesn't sink in the right people. Its not those people who are still leveling that are the issue, they always have things to spend gold on, rather, its those people who are level 30.

Or Mages/Clerics/Paladins. Yea, those to.

I do have some suggestions for "gold sinks" for those that are at the point where gold flows in like water during the monsoon season.....but almost all of them are still going to be player options, so they aren't really "sinks" more or less and do involve some DM effort too.

If anyone would like to hear them, just let me know if it needs to be PMs or a new thread or here or how would be best to convey them.

As I said, I have...YARG... ....almost 12 years....*whimpers*....experience with Neverwinter...

MAN I feel old now....gee...tanks.....hehehe....(kidding kidding, yes I am an old fart in real life...sue me...I survived!)

Heh...I get the feeling I need to change my login for the player name that comes to the game...heh...its Simeron also...

Simeron has entered as a player

Player base begins hunting the newest character on the list as a shout across the server rings out...

"BURN THE GOLD SINK GIVER!!!"

1) Are there any boxes or containers in the game?

yes, in fact, without them most characters would be screeeewed here

2) Is there a banking system?

yes, kind of... gold isnt transferable in any way and this is so there is no easy way to circumvent the death penalty (which is designed to be quite harsh on higher levels but is still a far cry from perma death) but items can be converted into "bank notes" and transfered.

3) Can you get personal housing in any way?

yes, there are quarters for sale all around the server.

4) Changing appearance of items?

the crafting menu basically gives you full reign over customization, but there are several appearances ONLY available with the job system. weapons smiths may be able to make weapons with unique appearances etc etc. and there are a few more "hidden" ones only given out upon dm events and the like (which makes them truely epic)

5) Mounts?
nope. though you can of course rp it as you wish. horses are lorewise not supported on the island due to climate and food supply
