What you're describing might sound a bit like a LN Banite to me, actually. Bane would be all excited about the idea of imposing divinely-mandated law-'n-order on people, and a LN Banite might legitimately believe that he was doing it for their own good. And so long as you're unswervingly dedicated to Bane, he's otherwise a very ends-justify-the-means sort of guy.

Bane doesn't fit tat at all. Hoar seems a better fit. Alternately don't go the easy way out and focus on a god; focus on teh character and let him find a patron later, assumnig he's not a divine PC.

Alright I have another question involving Mystra.
I have a Knight of Mystic Fire. Paladins generally hate undead in all its forms. What is a Paladin of Mystra's view on undead, seeing as he is a follower of a deity that focuses on the proper use of magic?

Q: What is a Paladin of <insert deity here>'s views on undead?
A: See the Paladin's Code book that's given to paladins on rollup. It goes something like, "Undead are an abomination that deserve only the mercy of being put to rest," or something similar.

Lizzie's right. Pretty much the only exception to the paladinic hate for undead is the Mulhorandi and their tomb guardians. A non-Mulhorandi paladin would likely smite them the same as any other mummy, I believe.

Does that mean a Paladin would also have to smite Baelnorns aswell?

That depends on the paladin's education, personal opinion and whether or not they are elven.

Which deities can someone be a Paladin of? Does the God have to be a certain alignment in order to be acceptable or what? As in, can you be a LG Paladin of a CG deity such as Sharess? Is there a list of gods that accept Paladins anywhere? How come you can be a Blackguard of any evil deity more or less yet on the opposite end Paladins may possibly be able to only serve some good deities and not others?

Generally, it's the LG deities that accept paladins. A couple of LN ones do, too. And two CG ones that I know of, Sune and Corellon Larethian.

FR sources also describe paladin called into the service of lots of NG deities, too. Chauntea, Baravar Cloakshadow, Lathander and Mystra spring to mind. In the Faiths & Pantheons book, a whole slew of paladin orders is listed, with this preface: F&P wrote: Other lawful good, lawful neutral, and neutral good deities that are not listed here can have paladins, but there are no known paladin orders for those faiths (in effect, paladins of those faiths are uncommon enough that rarely are there enough to band together and form an order). So according to FR lore, it seems that with the exception of the canonical CG paladin-calling gods, the one-step rule applies: any LG, NG, or LN deity can call paladins, though some of them do so far more often than others. As to whether there are additional restrictions or additions in Amia-specific lore... I've never heard of that, but I suppose it's possible.

Yep, that's correct. LG, NG, LN gods usually have Paladins. There are a few other Gods that don't fit into that mold and also accept Paladins though (Sune is a famous example, as displayed by our own DM PaladinOfSune). NinjaClarinet wrote: This is an alignment and deity question:
A character I'm working on is a fairly classic anti-hero concept. He has good motives: defend the weak and innocent, kick evil in the face, slay monsters, ect. The catch is that his methods are whack. He doesn't have many qualms about things. Torture? Cool. Necromancy? Sure. Undead? Whatever. Few innocents get caught in the crossfire for the 'greater good'? Bummer, he'll bake their families some cookies.
I'm hoping to play him as a divine class. Personality-wise, he's a bit of a broody womanizer. What deity and alignment is appropriate? I'm leaning towards True Neutral and Hoar, but my knowledge of the FR deities isn't exactly comprehensive. Thoughts? Hoar would work, for the more lawful types, yep. If you're going a more chaotic route, Tempus would work. As for alignment, depends on your characters personality. What you gave isn't enough to tell. Definitely doesn't sound like a good alignment though, I can say that much.

Can Dragonnes (Dragon-Lion hybrids) only be created from brass dragons, or can it be any dragon?

I don't think they are actually crossbreeds. They just look like a cross between a Lion and a Dragon. But its a distinct species?

Well, I was reading my 3.5 Monster Manual, and this is the description given:
"Part giant lion and part dragon, the creature has a pair of small, brass-colored wings sprouting from its shoulders. It is covered with brass-colored scales and its mane is thick and coarse".
It goes on to explain that its a brass dragon its mixed with, but I wonder if there are other lion-dragon hybrids available.

Hm. The wording isnt exactly clear, is it? But I think its saying that in the same way you might say ....err....A giraffe was part camel part leopard. As they do. Giraffa camelopardalis. Perhaps Dwagin or Ragi will know for sure. But I'm pretty confident its a distinct species. The racial type (Magical beast, rather than Dragon) suggests as much. As does its alignment (NN, not CG), low intelligence score, and organization (Wouldn't expect such a wierd arrangement to live in groups of up to 10).

I have a hard time imagining a brass dragon taking cat form and having a go at a lioness (or subjecting itself to a lion). Seems a little depraved to me, I picture that as being more the province of the evil dragons.

The reason half-human/half-dragons exist is that dragons can breed with *anything*. Why a dragon would want to get it on with a mundane lion is beyond me, but it's within the bounds of possibility, if not plausibility.
What I think is more plausible that a dragonne is something akin to an owlbear. Some smart-ass wizard in centuries past got a hold of some brass dragon blood or something, and decided to get a little bit funky with those war-lions he'd been breeding, and the results turned out to be capable of propagating itself as a separate species. Or, you know, something like that.
So, to answer the actual question, there's no reason why something like that couldn't have happened with some other variety of dragon. Goofball wizards love to meddle in that sort of thing. It's just that dragonnes are the most frequently-encountered and well-documented kind, so they're the ones that made the cut into the Monster Manual.

I actually looked into Dragonnes a while back. They're not actually cross-breeds. The owlbear example was very close. Just like gryphons aren't the result of lion/eagle mating. They're not really "part brass dragon" just "part dragon". The fact their scales are brass is just coincidence. They are their own breed. Think of the Dragon Turtle in this case. I'm sure they weren't created because some dragon decided to mate with a turtle.
The easiest way to determine this is to look at the entry for half-dragon, and compare it to the entry for dragonne. Dragonnes are magical beasts. Half-dragons still fall under the dragon subtype. You can also tell they're not just crossbreeds because the dragon blood doesn't eventually become so "watered down" through the generations that the creatures merely become lions in appearance, the way it works with any other dragon cross-breed.

Hm hm hm. Alright.
Next question, which is entirely unrelated:
What's up with pale masters? I've lost my copy of the Libris Mortis, which I think had Pale masters in it. What are the effects of the rituals they perform?

They gain Undead-like abilities from the rituals. Mostly through grafting undead parts to their own body, whilst remaining living.

As far as I can see the rituals are never spelled out though... the fluff is left to the player. Quote: To qualify to become a pale master, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Alignment: Any nongood. Skill: Knowledge (religion) 8 ranks. Feat: Skill Focus (Knowledge [religion]). Spells: Able to cast command undead and vampiric touch as arcane spells. Special: The candidate must have spent three or more days locked in a tomb with animate undead. This contact may be peaceful or violent. A character who is slain by the undead and later raised still meets the requirement, although the resulting level loss may delay compliance with other prerequisites. in pNp anyway...

Well, mostly, I want to know about like...
Their skin ossifies, right? (Becomes like bone.)
Their bones become thicker?
Some of their body parts become necrotic?
Do their internal organs still function? Like, the heart, lungs, spleen, etc.
Is it necessary for them to have these vital organs to survive still?

Their skin does ossify. It hardens and calcifies, rather like it becomes semi-fossilized. The bones, to my knowledge, are unaffected save for also hardening. Their major organs wither and while they don't go completely dead, their (much reduced) functions are augmented by negative-energy-based processes. As a result, a strike that would be mortal to a normal human can be shrugged off by a PM. I honestly don't know why PMs don't gain some form of vulnerability to positive energy, or reduced effect from healing items, but according to the LM I don't believe they do, even if it would make logical sense.

Aha. Thanks Gers, that is what I was looking for.
Would removal of, say, the heart or lungs, while the pale master is still living, result in their death, or would they be able to live off of the negative energy?
And what about the brain? Head injuries are still fatal, or no?

A PM isn't undead. I'd say total removal or removal of most of a major internal organ would be fatal. It might just take them a little longer to die, at the most. As for the brain, I'd consider a brain injury to be a critical hit. They're immune, thus brain injury doesn't count as more than a normal wound to them. Now, if it cuts their head off, that's another story.

Related question!
Raise Dead requires an intact body with no (reasonably) missing pieces, right?
Can someone be raised if they're missing a heart?

d20 SRD, Raise Dead spell wrote: While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole. Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life. In PnP, they could be raised, but they'd just instantly die again from the ongoing lack of a heart.

There's a thing on the Amia map in the Cordor Map Room (and on the Amia map linked to in the Rules & Lore forum) called the "Myart Shrine." But, I've never seen such a thing in game. What is / was the Myart Shrine?

The Myart shrine is the Mylock Hills, where you go into the cave thing and kill more Mylocks. The Myarts were the things that came before the Mylocks. I think they were giant metal things that were forced into being a hybrid (or willingly did?) with minotaurs. I also think it was originally Myrats, but that looks silly.

Really? That's... not what I'd have expected, if only because of the geography of it: the Mylock Hills are already on the map, shown directly west of the Dale, and the Myart Shrine is kind of south-by-southeast from the Dale. And... that cave is a shrine? There's nothing in there that suggests religiosity to me.
--shrug-- Hm. Weird.

The Myarts were an (Arelith made up) Creator Race. They were green skinned humanoid creatures. Very little information exists on them IC (or OOc for that matter) due to the lack of documentation on the are ain general pre Cordor's settling. The Myart Shrine is off to the side in the Troll Hills, where no one eve rgoes because it's off the beaten path of Trolls. Once upon a time those golems were actually working.

Aaaaah. My information came from quite a while ago when I first joined the server and hunted there for the first time. Probably just some random theory thrown out there after they came over to Amia. Feel free to ignore me then!

In Cape Slakh, there is what looks to be a little town or something (buildings at least) in the SW (I think) corner of the map. You can barely see them there when you stand by where the underwater transition is. I spent some time trying to get over there once but was unsuccessful.
Is there just no way to get over there?

in the case of that I would say it's exactly what it says... a magical burning dove *think phoenix* since its an aspect of a god.

Got a strange coupla...
First... Demon and Dragon blood.
Now, i know dragon and fey blood are considered prize materials for various wizards and alchemists, but i would assume demon blood would share somewhat similar status. What are the supposed effects of these things? Would armour crafted properly with dragon's blood be magical? Would you die from drinking it? ... What if a dragon disciple hunted down and drank dragon's blood?
Basically, what are the supposed magical effects of the blood of outsiders and powerful magical creatures, and would someone who has trace ammounts of that bloodline react differently?
Also, "Promise your soul to Orcus, eat of his flesh and drink of his blood, and through him you will gain life everlasting" Is this quote metaphorical? How could anyone eat Orcus flesh? Seems difficult.
Thanks!

Fey blood.. dragon blood.. outsider blood of any kind make for good magical components since they all have a small connection to the weave... crafting armor and such with blood is really up to the DM's and how you actually craft it I am sure... I could see such helping in say adding certain things to armor... like using white dragon blood on armor could in theory add a certain immunity to say cold attacks... but I am sure there would be downsides like vulnerability to fire....
then again this all up to the DM in question to decide.

Perhaps lore will turn up something that needs to be used to gain Orcus's favor, I don't know that for sure.
