Speaking of books, Volo's guides are meant to actually exist in the realms, right (sans Elminster's editorial comments)? May Amian characters claim to have copies or have read them?

May Amian characters claim to have copies or have read them? What books are these? They're a series of IC/OOC books ostensibly written by one Volothamp Geddarm. ICly, Volo is a prolific traveller and somewhat famous author who's written much on his experiences, and his books are available ICly as well as being OOC sourcebooks. The books are actually written in such a manner as to appear to be authored by a character from his viewpoint, with a few barbed editorial comments often tossed in by Elminster on Volo's mistakes, shortcomings, and factual errors. As said above, such comments wouldn't be seen in the versions available in Faerun, due to the sourcebooks supposedly being the copy sent to Elminster for his stamp of approval and removal of any overly sensitive information.

Question about drow and dragons: What sort of relationship do they have with each other? Do drow revere dragons in any special way?
Also, on a side note, am I putting the FR timeline together with Amia's correctly by assuming the drow city of Chad Nasad was not destroyed? I think I am reading it was destroyed in 1374, but Amia broke from cannon FR at the end of 1373... right?

Drow have allied themselves with various dragons in the past, yes. But when we talk Drow, an alliance with them is always one of convenience and rarely ever one of respect. Most of their alliances in the past and the ones today are with Deep Dragons. Some cities have a Deep Dragon that lives near by and they feed it enemies.

Mmkay thanks to you both. Trying to find a city for a Lolthite drow to have come from that's not Menzoberranzan lol
Also, with the dragons, that's kind of what I figured, given the drow mindset. This ties in with my Build Thread q about EMD/EDK actually. Wanted to see if they would be more inclined to summoning a dragon or not.

Sshamath is one of the more famous possibilities, not to mention there's a good reason for Llothites from there wanting to leave: the city's power structure is dominated by male wizards, with the clergy of Lloth relegated to a secondary (maybe even tertiary, behind the merchants) role. What good spider-hugging Llothite could really abide living in a place run by males, much less one where outright slavery (at least of magic-wielding races) is illegal, and where other religions are not only tolerated, but encouraged?

I need a bit of clarification; Is there ANY such spell that could change a persons gender? Divine or arcane. I am starting to get annoyed by how openly suggested it is but there exists nothing on the d20srd spell lists..

Pretty much any polymorhping spell could. Changing shape to another humanoid type(even you own) means you could chose a specific gender. Take for example Alter Self, one of the most basic of shapechanging spells. Quote: You can freely designate the new form’s minor physical qualities (such as hair color, hair texture, and skin color) within the normal ranges for a creature of that kind. The new form’s significant physical qualities (such as height, weight, and gender) are also under your control, but they must fall within the norms for the new form’s kind. You are effectively disguised as an average member of the new form’s race. If you use this spell to create a disguise, you get a +10 bonus on your Disguise check. There are also a few magical items that can do this. One such is this. Something like that is what Eilistraeens probably use when requiring a male to live as a female for a year before becoming a priest.

Be sure to get the 2.0 Drow of The Underdark. That one is FR specific. The 3.0 Drow of The Underdark will likely be of far less use than the 2.0 because it's core and only talks about FR in brief.

Wraiths themselves are sometimes depicted to have a black-ish color. Besides that, the only incorporeal undead that's depicted as black that I can think of is the Allip.

Is it allowed to play a cleric or paladin of Amaunator, as part of the Risen Sun Heresy? If so, does this require a request to play one?

I seem to recall that we might have had and allowed a PC before that subscribed to the Risen Sun heresey, though that was quite a while back. That said, FR's gods tend to be greedy as far as worship is concerned: unless you're doing something majorly out of whack with their tenets, they'll still grant power even if your dogma is a little off, IIRC. On the other hand, Aumanator may not be Lathander on Amia. IMO, I would appreciate a request for something like this. It'd be an oddball character, like a male cleric of Eilistraee. If nothing else, it'd give us an opportunity to mull over the ramifications of "heretical" clerics.

I was under the impression people could say they worship whomever. But who really got the powers was what mattered. And Lathander -Amaunator would be a good representation of this. Amaunator does not differ much. The character may subscribe to the heresay but since Lathander grants the spells. Lathander will probably be like, well... close enough to get the point across.
Then again. I am not DM, so do what Gers said.

Amaunator is Lathander on Amia.
You can play a cleric or Paladin of Amaunator. Pick Lathander as your deity. You will get powers.
This isn't really a "Heretical" thing in the classical sense, since it's not a true Heresy in FR defined terms, but rather a group termed heretically ICly by Orthodox Lathandry.
AFAIK anyways. I don't see a need for a request, personally.

Only because there are multiple "heresy" churches that should require oversight. This one is less on my personal radar though, because of Lathanders nature. That said, Lathander was never confirmed to be Amaunator. It was just assumed that he was because Lathander disappeared, and when Amaunator returned, he took on the goodness that Lathander represented. For all we know, Amaunator just assumed Lathander's portfolios when he was resurrected, or Amaunator was reborn out of Lathander (which is very fitting, considering Lathanders dogma). As far as I've read, it was never actually confirmed that Amaunator was Lathander all along though. I always liked Lathander over Amaunator myself. He's a much more interesting god to me.

In the past, I think it has been confirmed that heretics and worshipers of dead gods are alright without a request at least insofar as it's one of those heresies or dead god cults specifically mentioned in the respective books. (Power of Faerûn and Lost Empires of Faerûn respectively, IIRC.) They are safe and established instances of using those feats. Coming up with something new or different would have required DM consideration.
You may not want to stick to that distinction, but it's a useful and clear line to draw: if it's mentioned as OK in the books that introduce the feats Servant Of The Fallen and Heretic Of The Faith (both have such lists), then it's probably OK for Amia too. If it's not there, it ought to be requested.

Does the word "fuck' actually exist in our little fantasy world? I don't mind any of the derivatives such as "feck", but it's a big pet peeve of mine to see certain hins and such, going around outright overusing the word in their speech.
Never in my life have I encountered this word in any book or a game of FR... If it indeed does not, or should not exist, I would ask people to cease using it ICly.
I feel like a carebear now!

With all due respect, I never said I have an issue with "offensive" words OOCly, not at all. I was asking whether this word exists canonically in our world or not, because I have never encountered it anywhere in FR.
If you're going to simply say that the word does exist on Amia for whatever reason, then that is fine. You are the creators, engineers and gods of Amia. You control the lore.

As for a DM ruling, I won't presume to second-guess what any ruling might be, but as it's a word players have seen fit to use in game, and is tolerably in-keeping, IMO, with how people might speak (compared to other 'modern' terms, words, and phrases that I commonly see I/G) I am surprised that anyone felt the need to raise an objection. Should there be DM rulings asked for on whatever players say or do I/G? Anyway, this doesn't seem to be the place for discussing this, so apologies, folks, for the derail.

Well, if you want to get technical, English isn't even the proper language to use. We use it and say it's "Common" or whatever other language. So, with that in mind, the words your using are just used to translate what you're trying to say in whatever Common or any other language would be. Wording and word use really isn't that big a deal.

Once you start trying to question the etymology of words in English vs Common, you getting into some things that just can't be explained. Iron and I debated it a while back. An example, the word tree stems from the word trewan that comes from the Proto-Germanic language. Are we gonna say that Common should and would have another word for what we think of as a tree because the word's origin technically doesn't exist in FR?
My feeling is it's just best to accept our English as their Common, and that by whatever twist of fate or deus ex machina, it has the same words as us.
Curses are a funny matter. I always prefer to use new or interesting combinations of old ones. Or just coin new ones and then explain it back to the confused recipient. "What did you just call me?" "You know the intimate stuff you do with a woman? Yeah, I just called you someone that does that same stuff with odd-looking holes in trees."

I got a huge chuckle out of that. Makes sense, since in FR the insults won't all be the same. Works best with languages, too. '[drow] Mother ***ing **** ***ard I will slit your throat' '[common] What was that?' '[common] I said pleasure to meet you', etc

It's all about flavor and literary style. My filthy and mean gnome with 6 Charisma is going to say "fuck", whereas my well-read elf isn't. Like Gunz said, we're just trying to convey character intentions with an English translation. We should worry less about the accuracy of the translation and more about how it gets the point across.

Can somebody post a screenshot or reference number of the typical skin colour of a Moon elf?

Uh, it's pale? Some people use almost gray or white, or even some blueish shades, but I'd just go with the first, lightest skin color option.

It's supposed to be pale white to icy blue. There's a few pics out there if you google it but the dude in the sourcebook I'm looking at almost looks like very light pink with bluish undertones.

Amarillis went with a more tanned (compared to other moon elves) skin colour Svensk Just like a pale human.

Moon elves are known to have pale skin with a faint touch of blue or violet, I believe.

0 and 1 looks really weird for a moon elf. They're more like sun elves then...
What about Nr 20?
