Just wanted to pop in and say hi. >_> Found this server a little bit ago and figured I'd give it a shot. Only problem is having a hard time deciding what character to play. So many fun roles to try out, I'm used to Table Top gaming so this will be my first excursion into the world of online DnD! Hope to see you guys around in game. If you're just starting or want to level a lowbie with me or just chat about gaming or whatever you guys know where to find me. ^_^

You'll find the community here is pretty nice and helpful. Amia has treated me well over the past couple of years and I have no inclination on leaving anytime soon! Hopefully you'll come to the same conclusion.

Aww thanks, I'm sitting in character creation right now. Been here for about an hour and still no clue what to make! I have sort of an idea of the character I want to play, but mechanics wise still trying to decide how to make it work. There are so many subraces x_x and I found a couple that would make the character work well mechanically but aside from the brief paragraph explaining them and what I can find on: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page I'm not sure if I could play them properly/if the race fits my character idea. Maybe you can help solve my indecisiveness! The character I've been pondering is:

Female Rogue

Personality Description: It's hard to build on much without knowing what race will be played but here are the general things that I would like included: Basically, I'm looking at Chaotic Neutral (Big surprise for a rogue right?) or possibly Neutral Evil but would rather avoid it. Not wanting to get into an alignment debate, I will just state personally to me the difference between Neutral Evil and Chaotic Neutral to me is motivation. The Rogue character concept I had is for a more mischievous than down right Evil intent. I've investigated the changes to pick pocketing and since there's a custom system for it here, hopefully it's not as broken as the nwn default. The idea behind it is she'll probably pickpocket people, but not for the desire to get rich or anything. More like, if she sees someone do something rude like kick a beggar, or just you know those arrogant types that mischievous people like to mess with. >_> I personally don't even care if she gets caught, out of character I want pp to be a tool for interaction more than a get rich quick. I'd like her to be able to do decent in combat, I don't expect her to be able to destroy the world, or kill people as she's not an assassiny type but being able to escape and get away should things turn violent is always a nice feature. In groups I figure typical sneak attack damage and of course the standard 10000 skills would be what she'd bring to the table. Was aiming for Epic Dodge more for survival than anything. So that's a bare bones description of her. I'm sure once I get further than nothing I'll be able to flesh out a backstory and all that fun stuff. Wow this got long fast ok so... let's go with a list of adjectives for tl:dr crowd: Personality Description Brief: Playful, Mischievous, Intelligent, Quick Witted, Good Conversationalist, Resourceful. Wanting to avoid: Mean, Blatantly selfish (Granted she will save her life before someone else's, she's not out to do things that directly kill other people just so she'll get ahead either.)

Edit: As for subraces I've looked at Shadovar and Feytouched. Shadovar seem too srs business for me. Feytouched sound like a perfect fit but I don't have enough information about what type of Fey it can be etc. >_>

If you need Build help you go there. It's best you check your build BEFORE you create it so you don't need to rebuild and get any rough surprises. It's a good tip!

We can also help you with what classes and feats suite your RP ideas!

Cheers mate. I've realized if I keep sitting here at char gen I'm never going to get to play. My desire to play a unique character is what's killing me most, as this server seems to have been around for years and so pretty much everything has been done, and the Rogue is feeling kinda cliche now, but as a class I am more familiar with them and comfortable exploring that way. So! To the build thread I go!

The Build Thread is actually fantastic for helping with such things. I would suggest posting that there, so it keeps it all in one spot, and the build monkeys can help you with working on something that will fit properly.

I cannot comment much on feytouched, but Shadovar is definitely serious business as there's huge lore behind them so a character would have to fit it right (plus they are pretty much Evil). Course, every race has a lot of lore, it's just one of the ones that has certain quirks.

You could probably easily get away with full 30 Rogue and be happy. If you want to be combat orientated as well, I'd suggest 25 Rogue/5 Fighter. You would take 4 fighter in pre-epic (so you get 4 attacks per round and weapon specialization) and 1 fighter in epic at level 29 so you can try for 32 discipline and epic weapon specialization. However, I would stress that despite this if your char is nto very disciplined then you might want to forgo discipline to reflect that. Purely your choice, I've done it once or twice, but discipline is also combat orientated so it's up to you.

But yeah, post up in the Build Thread and you'll get more (and better) help. I know my way around NWN building but I'm not super awesome lol

edit: Darn you Svensk! Haha. Also, you can make an initial character to get a feel for the server as well, then get uber serious on the next one. Just a thought.

Welcome to Amia! This place welcomed me in with arms wide open back in January, and I haven't looked back since. It's an amazing place with a bunch of well-rounded characters and stories just floating all around. I hope you enjoy your time here! Lore Forum is perfect if you want to ask questions Feytouched. Just look if there is a topic on them, and if not, create a new one and the community will help you with anything you want to know.

The build you wrote seems to be similar to one I just made for my own rogue character. No focus on combat power, but mainly on the rogue skills. There is a post about it in the topic Svensk mentioned. If you want to copy it or use it as inspiration, you are most welcome to do so. If you are looking for something with a bit more bite, Naivatkal gave some good advice there.

Oh, and also amia has a job system that allows you to become a thief or burglar. This means you can steal some stuff instead of only hitting monsters.

Here is some information on fey type things - namely different types you can be. Other sources can likely fill you in on the specifics of the fey heritage the fey touched would have.

Plenty more information around somewhere, I just don't know correctly off hand but fey'touched definitely have a lot going for them and many subtleties that can/may be played out!

This is true. You should make a roguey char and join up with Honey's rogue. Then my rogue can get you both to work with him! lol

Wow thanks for all the help so far! Tons of stuff to read and look at. Made my post in the build thread now I guess all there is to do is wait! I thought about just making an exploring character but I'm a secret alt-aholic! So I want to try and stick with whatever I pick for the long haul for better or worse!

I have been here for a year now and everyone I have rp'ed with has been so nice.

I know your pain on creating a character. *cough... altitise..cough* I have a whole list of them when I log into the server, and each has there own personality. From the fun loving Hin rogue, to the tree hugging nature loving druid / shifter, to the Uthgardt barbarian who thinks shes better than everyone who does not use pure strength to beat up the enemy.

Enjoy your time here and may you stay a long time. And if you see a half elf with a spider companion, be sure to say Hi, he doesn't bite...he just nibbles..lol.
