I don't 'build' chars, ie I do a very poor job of min/maxing stats classes because it it no fun for me and ruins the rp when you have to make rp fit a class/race combo.
That said, have a pal char whose purpose was to lay the figurative smackdown on evil use of magic. Was going for straight pal levels. Key to this was the use of 'holy sword' spell at higher levels to quickly strip their power if needed. I read old amia threads say it's been nerfed so it doesn't dispel anything much anymore.
Question is simple, does the holy sword spell reliably dispel high level spellcasters on hit, or has it been changed to not generally do that?
(please don't rant here about if it was overpowered, abused, etc or not, just want the straight yes or no)
Thanks in advance! No hard feelings if it has been nerfed.

If it does still have the dispel you won't find it very effective in just about any situation. It's greater dispelling to my knowledge and most casters do have enough caster levels to be immune and I don't think it even works all that effectively vs potion buffs on a regular fighter for that matter, could be wrong however. So the general answer is no. Also it's a mechanical question best asked in the build topic (named: teach a man to fish) in el future.

The formula for dispelling is:
1d20 + dispel's caster level vs. 12 + creator's effective level
The Holy Avenger properties caster level is 10, so it'd be 1d20 + 10 vs. 12 + creator's effective level.

Amia's holy sword scales greater dispelling and caps at level 25. I am unsure as to why the change isn't in the sidebar, but I'm fairly certain it's because the original change was done prior to patch 1.69. The original change was so that it didn't apply the Holy Avenger property rather added each property individually.

Will say a 25th level Pal with holy sword have a 50% chance per strike to dispel vs a 25th level spell spellcaster, or 5%?

I imagine the answer to this is yes, but does the Blackguard holy sword dispel work in the same manner then?

I was under the impression it was mechanically broken and thus never used it

It works fine. I believe it was stripping GMW at one point because it also gave +5 enhancement, but I think that aspect of it was changed a while back.
