Is there still a Baneite faction? If so could I please be put back on their active list and have access to the boards? My main character is Maal of Bane.

lol

That's fairly accurate. Sadly there has not been a strong Banite presence in a while. The server needs good bad guys again :/

There's a secretive faction out there, but to be honest I haven't felt much impact from them yet. We need evil we can see too! (Mind, I like secretive evil characters, myself. If only I had time to play my one guy ....... )

Was Maal not perma'd or something? By some demons or such?

The forums died a while go due to inactivity. Though I've seen the odd Banite here and there. Not naming any of them for obvious reasons, though. Not that I know enough of them to give a proper list.. But they're out there! They just have to be a bit more secretive about their business now days.

Just how it used to be in the old old days when they had a secret hideout inside Cordor.

Personally, I'm torn.

On one hand, I can understand members of the Banite clergy wanting to operate in secret due to their presence on Amia having been seriously damaged from what I've seen and heard in my IG interactions. On the other hand, the sheer zeal flowing through my characters veins (doubly so since she came to Amia a Banite, not knowing the extent of the damage to the church there) inspires her to proclaim the glory of the Black Hand whenever possible.

So uhm yeah, I'm playing a Banite. :3

Every time I see one of these threads (they are countless) I can't help but think that any fledgling Banite activity there happens to be, is shooting itself in the foot.

You think this is bad? Wait until activity soars and then some bright spark is going to resurrect the Banite Recruitment Thread. :D

I miss the banite faction, if i was them though I'd try to get on the good side of Lord Wiltun and make camp there.

After destruction of that Castle, I've seen attempts like these far too many times. Far too many. Each one of them lasted exactly 3 weeks when the new Imperceptor suddenly had some stuff to do, promising that he will return in 2 weeks, and leaving Amia forever. So though I technically have a Banite from the old Church, I'm out of this one, for both IC and OOC reasons.

Maal was taken to the abyss a dark power involuntarily, but the last time I was able to get some semi extended game play in the ic rp was done and with the help of the Imperceptor of that time period Maal escaped his torment. This was done with the DM who helped me with the rp approved him coming back. I dont remember who that is but I'll check my inbox and see if our correspondence was done through there or dm chat channel.

I would love to get involved with my quirky muteling, but honestly I just don't have the time, and I can't disappoint people who have kept me in RP when I was low. But I <3 you guys and if I get a chance I'll be around, and I'll always be there OOCly.

I have a deep love for Banites.

And I'm also an optimist to a fault. My suggestion is to wait to do a recruitment thing until you've developed based on your environment, rather than based on your other players. Or more clearly, find a way to attach yourself to the server and do/create/destroy, so that if you ever do decide to recruit, you're actively doing things and keeping folks busy.

I don't really care all that much what happened in the past. If you've a will to play a Banite and get things goin' again, I say do it.

Thank you, Hackums, it's nice to see such warm support from someone in the DM team for this kind of venture. I hope that The Banites make a comeback, it'll be good to see the familiar black and green running around again. It's been far too long since I felt like I wasn't the last Banite left standing.

Even if... so what?

Of course people will rise against tyrrany at some point if it is done efficiently.

That doesnt mean it can not be great fun for both sides and can spark interesting RP and give people something to do.

I find the key to initiatives to start faction X: ( Banites, Red Wizards, Shadow Thieves, Asmodeuns, Teletubbies etc), is not to question the faction in particular, but to question a key player who can dedicate and be discplined enough to take a strong leadership role, have no alternate characters , and be active on the server for a given long period of time. All other questions are null, till one player decides to take up the commitment and stick to it. All it takes is one persons dedication and the rest follows.

Yes, and we all know that being a faction leader is absolutely the worst job one can ever take. For a really good, strong faction you need more than one man.

Yep, I vaguely remember some Kossuth following. Then it disappeared without even really affecting the server (from what I recall/saw). I was the disappoint.

Good luck.. best advice is to ignore the rest of the server's politics and do your own thing. That's what was what we did before, when we had an active core.

You people and your factions, your security blankets. Bah!

Look, you the player are the only thing that is going to make a Banite awesome again. You don't need a polo club to strike fear into the hearts of men. Work like a slowly acting poison on your own. Twist your way into the cellars of some other city and operate from there. Take in others that will suit your needs, grow yourself slowly.

Why premeditate these things? What is the hurry for christsakes? Why do you feel so rushed to have your army today?

Leer. Leer my darlings... Leer until you have the opportunity to put the knife in another's back. And no one will hear them scream.

Has Amia honestly spiralled in to some snark-fest on an OOC level in the forum? Over the years I've seen a number of instances where people might have a little sly jab at one another now and then, but now it seems to be happening far too often and some weeks as often as each day. :|

Also, am I confusing Banites with some other Religious group when I think of them as an 'out and proud' affiliation when they have good numbers behind them, maybe even some when they aren't so well backed-up (this is the kind of idea I got from Banites I saw in game in the past, atleast), or is that just entirely down to the individual follower?

The whole OOC thing behind letting it be known that Arcane Crusader wants to get the wheels in motion again and increase Banite activity may give some of you your current unfavourable opinions, but I see it as some good initiative to increase RP and interaction in game.

Thanks Hackums.

And Tormak, not really. Not everything. The politics is just one story among a whole cupboard of stories. A lot of interesting things are going on underground, above ground, and right on the ground. One of my characters is involved with the politics and it's a good story, yes, but I still enjoy the odd mishappens that happen elsewhere just as much, if not more sometimes.

The best single-handed events I've been in in a long time was DustSprayer's underwater event, and all we were doing was looking for a pearl. It was just well done.

But that's me! You know, some people want to watch Game of Thrones, others want to watch Twin Peaks. It's a matter of taste.

Then you know that to suggest a faction ignore everything and be completely insular is to also spell the death of that faction.

There's politics and then there's politics mate.

Banite and Drow politics are probably the harshest politics I've witnessed on a consistent basis: I don't know whether it's just because they're evil, or the way they conduct business or because they both want to control their own little worlds... but both require lots of DM monitoring and both end up with frustrated players. Consistently. In many cases the same players leave, come back 12 months later and leave again after a few weeks.

Yes politics are part of Amia. Conflict resolution is part of Amia... but do we really need -those- kinds of politics? Or encourage them?

[edit] In saying that, if Banites intend to make a return... don't fly solo. Make alliances and make friends of convenience: if you do it alone, you'll get stomped on every single time. It's just a case of statistics.

That's because you're an addict

I'd like to see The Banites come back like they did in the good old days. Back then they had a small foothold in a major city, nobody knew they were even there, they didn't run around in the wilderness making roadblocks and attacking innocent people. They schemed, destabilised and stayed more or less utterly secret. That in my mind is how Amian Banites should behave, not how they were towards the end with all the excessive PvP and ridiculous posturing against low level PCs minding their own business in the Skull Crags. Every time there's been a PvP heavy faction that makes roadblocks it usually spells a death knell for that faction. Look at the old Banites and the old Eternal Order. Both had road block fever and both didn't last too long before people started to hate them, now look where they are now. When was the last time you saw an E.O. member or a large group of Banites?

The reason why I will never play again is because Tormak is 100% right.

Please understand, this is not said in sarcasm or rudeness, I am genuinely curious. If you don't play, and don't plan to ever play again, AKA, you do not wish to be part of this community, why do you still post? :?:

Well, I'm still here too.

And I'm sadly here too. Didn't do anything for like 4-5 months then suddenly. .. BAM! Inspiration strikes!

Don't mock people for hanging around. Occasionally they pop in after a while.
