I would also recommend not going for 21 constitution for just 1 EDR, thats silly. I want 20 Con anyways for the HP (high HP is sorta the goal, since almost -every- other character I play usually has low HP). And since we get an odd number of ability bonuses on level... I don't see why using one to get Con21 is silly at all. As for the other two EDRs? Using up three of the four epic feats for one thing is expensive. Too expensive.

Unless you are going for mighty rage as well 21 con is a waste. So is 20. Hell I would even so 18 is but its a good compromise as you are dead set...
You will have something like 700 hp, 30 hp difference between 18 and 20 con mods is a joke. You can use those ability points for so Much more at character creation.
There is hardly any discernible difference in your survivAbility with 30 more hp. As for taking the one edr, don't do it if your other choice is armor skin.
Either do con for reals and do mighty rage and edr 3. Do just mighty rage and armor skin or don't max con out. What barbarian build are you using for only 4 epic feats? You get 4 from general epics at 21, 24, 27, and 30... You also get them with possible fighter levels and even barbarian as well as many other combinations used.

Thanks for the input folks. The point of the char is not to be strong in combat, just not to suck too much. And that seems possible to achieve with the 3/8/19 suggestion. As for bluff and persuade, they are there to show that the investment is made, not necesarily to be rolled.

I noticed that the ability scores are changed for the Dragon Disciple with regards to strength. Is the level 10 one simply negated or is the progression changed? Thanks

The progressions are the same, it's just once you hit the server max you don't get the bonuses after that. So once you hit level four DD you get no additional STR, same with AC at level 5 (until epic).

Eheh, QPR seems to have had an idea very similar to mine. I'm not sure about Assassin because it gets so few skill points and sacrifices much for situational assassination potential.
So what ideas do you have for the ultimate sociable crook? Human, good charisma and intelligence, and as many tricks and tools as possible. Persuade, Bluff, Intimidate, poisons, disguises, torture and interrogation, knocking people out when necessary, stealth and detection, lockpicking, possibly traps, wands and gadgets. Rogue is obviously necessary, but I don't know how to build one. What are the class's weaknesses and how to make up for them? Is there a way to mix it with some other cool utility class?
I could see some combination of Rogue, Bard, Fighter, Assassin, Blackguard, Divine Champion and Master Scout. Wizard, Sorcerer and Cleric are all viable from an RP perspective, but I'm not sure how multiclassing into them would help.
Not really looking for a complete build yet, but rather just brainstorming the class combinations available. Is the best rogue build simply 24/6 with EWS, or something?

Are the prereq's for Epic Dodge only: Imp Evasion, Def Roll, 25 Dex and 30 Tumble?
Is dodge needed? Wiki suggests not but I want to be certain.

Not really looking for a complete build yet, but rather just brainstorming the class combinations available. Is the best rogue build simply 24/6 with EWS, or something? Not Amia specific as I am not too familiar with the module, but inherent rogue weaknesses are Fort and Will saves, and the only moderate AB when you really want to land every sneak in your flurries as to kill things before they focus you. Ways to counter them would be UMD (in the case of Saves) and items and good positioning. Even if you pumped your Fort if there is someone/something with a Horrid WIlting loaded, you don't want to be in the area of effect or the target. For traps Electrical is by far the strongest, and its still greatly dimished in efficiency due to elemental resist buffs. If you are really looking for a social skilled type, the least levels in any class (less skill points) the better. a Rogue 25/Fighter 5 loses 30 Skill Points at least, but gets EWS. For maximum utility you could contemplate a Rogue Wiz, Rogue 13/Wizard 17 gets you ED and lvl 9 Spells, without any good DCs or Spell Pen of course. It also makes you plan for at least 19 INT, meaning loads of Skill POints for social skills and more. Obviously, I missed something that is specific to the module, ignore my measly 2 cents =)

Classes with few skill points can be offset with high intelligence if you are willing to sacrifice AB for skill points. I will go with 3 rogue/8 fighter/19 Assassin with 16 int as a compromise between skills and combat effectiveness. That nets 16 BAB pre-epic and 242 skill points in total, enough to bring 8 skills to 30 ranks and have 2 skill points left to spare.
Edit: as for the "best" rogue build, 19 rogue/6 fighter/ 5 MS is about as strong and versatile as you can get. EWS, epic dodge, and lots of nifty toys and permanent freedom from MS. I would perhaps have gone that route if I did not already have a Ranger/MS

Sounds like Bard/Assassin or such. I suppose you could try out a Bard11/Assassin18/Ranger1, etc. You will be gimped, but could practically pull it off. A very safe build to consider would be Rogue16/DC10/Fighter4, and Bard16/Rogue13/Ranger1 is also a nice gimmick. Blackguard and Rogue can be combined into a DEX build, namely Rogue13/BG16/Ranger1 and it is quite potent, truth be told. There are plenty of gimmicks to pick from, though I'd not base my decision wholly on RP, but also opt for a build I would enjoy mechanically.

I want to play all of those. But I did realize I will be hard-pressed to get all the skills I want even on a human 19 rogue. I really like the gadget aspect of Master Scout and could probably request custom gadgets to complement them, so this is one option I came up with: Quote: 16rog/4ftr -> 19rog/6ftr/5MS
10 Str 17 (26) Dex 12 Con 9 Wis 14 Int 12 Cha
15 Bluff 15 Persuade 10 Intimidate 27 Disable Trap 33 Hide 33 Move Silently 33 Open Lock 30 Search 10 Set Trap 33 Spot 30 Tumble 20 UMD 8 Discipline 6 Lore 2 Listen 2 Craft Trap
16Rog/4Ftr -> 19Rog/6Ftr/5MS
Skill Focus: Spot Skill Focus: Listen Blind-Fight Knockdown Improved Knockdown Expertise Weapon Focus: Dagger Weapon Specialization: Dagger Improved Critical: Dagger Weapon Finesse Toughness Improved Evasion Defensive Roll Crippling Strike(/Slippery Mind?)
Armor Skin Great Dex II (MS 1 and 5) EWF EWS ESF: Hide ESF: Spot (Rogue 19; Slippery Mind/Improved Sneak Attack instead?)
I could drop Expertise, Improved Critical and one more feat for TWF/Ambidex/ITWF. Or I could focus in Crossbows or Slings instead, though the former requires Rapid Reload. They are just too cool and rogue-like. I just cannot shave any more off my skills, so no Discipline. Unless I dock 2 from Str and Con for 16 Int. Open Lock and Search are the kind of things I will use in RP a lot, and 15/15/10 seems like the minimum investment to be able to say he's good at talking. I have no idea about my feats, but I'm pretty happy with the skill and ability spread. I could pump Dex to 18 and get Epic Prowess instead of Great Dex II, or drop the other ESF and get Great Dex III for 28. But that gimps my Str and Con quite a bit, I'm not sure it's convenient. I'm really just looking for an easy, convenient time with PvM with the priority being out-of-combat utility. This seems like a straightforward build that need not worry about buffing or specific strategies.

24 paladin, 5 knight commander, 1 monk will work, yes. It will be tight on feats, so don't expect devastating critical, but otherwise the build is quite viable and effective.
You'll want to pick up (assuming it is a human):
Power Attack, Divine Might, Divine Shield, Skill Focus: Discipline, Toughness, Blind Fight, Weapon Focus: x, Improved Critical: x
Epic Weapon focus: x, Armor Skin, and any three of the following (in no particular order of importance, as which is better will depend on what attributes you choose to invest more heavily in and personal preference): Great Strength #, Great Charisma #, Epic Prowess, Extra Turning, Extend Spell, Epic Skill Focus: Discipline, Epic Skill Focus: Taunt

I'd say Extend Spell is almost mandatory as a Paladin. +5 everything for an extra minute thanks to one feat? Yes please. Naturally the feat has its other uses, but the extended duration of Divine Favour is the most important one by far.

I'd take it before Improved Critical in the finalized build myself, but the paladin spell progression is quite slow, so pushing it into epic doesn't hurt much for some quick crits early on. Ideally he'll spring for one statistic epic feat to even things out, then take Extra Turning and Extend Spell with his three tenative feat slots.

A dwarf rogue / shadow dancer build. Crossbow as his favoured weapon. Doesn't that sound awesome? If i can get some inspiration i can perhaps make him. Or perhaps i just want to make the build then discard it. Probably. Most definitely.
I want to cram in as MUCH sneak attack as possible. I mean really overdo it! But i still don't want to gimp myself. So. Since i am le horrible on dexxers (I have never had one), you can fill in the gaps.
18 dex. 14 int. 14 con.
Then i just spread the remaining points wherever.
7 feats pre-epic. 2x mandatory (Dodge, mobility)
#1 blind fight #2 wep focus! #3 weapon finesse #4 imp critical #5 dodge #6 mobility #7 rapid reload.
16 rogue pre-epic. 4 sd pre- epic. (This is to get hips asap!) End build 24/6
Now. How do i cram the most sneak out of this fella? 4 feats in epoic (21-24-27-30) Plus 1 extra from rogue bonus.
Mandatory feats are #1 epic dodge #2 great dex. #3 extra sneak # 4 extra sneak #5 extra sneak
Can i improve it?

You will definitely want 6 fighter in there, you'll get another APR and EWS, which will make up for some lost sneak dice, and you'll gain a few feats. As for taking improved sneak attack, I don't recommend it. Prioritize AB.

AB < acceptable.
That said, they can still be pretty fun. It depends on what you want out of it. There's a Barbarian / Bard / PM build which is a little crazy. 16 Barbarian / 4 Bard / 10 PM. You can mess around with it a bit, but that gives you a bit of everything. You can fit Dev Crit into it, or Terrifying or Thundering Rages. Basically I'd imagine a tanky character who just keeps taking hits until he finally lands one.

Poor saves and a mediocre HP pool especially. Your AB will be reasonable provided you're taking a full BAB class like fighter to make up the melee portion.

I imagine I'll be using ranged and melee quite evenly, but IKD benefits from dagger focus rather than crossbow/sling. Otherwise I'd probably get rapid reload and save feats.

For Rogue skills with my limited module experience:
UMD 25 is all you need to wear anything on the server with positive charisma. I believe you can have less as it only checks to put the item on but that may be viewed as a bug. So you could buff it to wear the item then not care til reset.
Open lock gear can boost you up high so max openlock isn't needed either.
With negative wis I wonder how effective your focus on spot/listen will be vs dedicated hide/move silent. So you may want to re-evaluate there.
That's all I have for now on smartphone will check when I get home and try to help you out if you want.

My dedicated spotter only has a 2 Wis modifier and rarely has to go beyond that to spot most other people in stealth. UMD aided in this though, too. even if you have 6 Wis (-2 mod), that's not a great deal difference, especially if you can get a hold of the scrolls to boost Wis or even just potions for up to a couple more points to lessen the -2, even moreso with the fact skill focus and epic skill focus spot are on the cards.
My spotter doesn't have the SF: spot, nor alertness and does well enough usually in spotting (ESF: spot is present, atleast), so I don't think it will be all too problematic, if at all.
Edit: Then again, I didn't take in to account the Favoured Enemy bonus, + skill affinity, but I think it should still be fair enough for most situations.

Don't the highest lock have ridiculous DCs? Breaking into Maximillian's bedroom is certainly on the agenda.
But yeah, I'm really unsure about Spot. People seem to recommend it and say it's fine, but I can't understand how I could possibly detect anyone. Stealth is rather broken because it mostly only gets positive modifiers for the DC and because they obviously have a huge Dex mod too. Unless there are some modifiers I'm unware of. I don't know any stealth builds that don't take ESF.
I just fail to see how anyone of equal level wouldn't have more Hide than I have Spot. Deteching lvl 10 spies isn't very exciting.

Up to now I've only had a problem with spotting one person, but they took every feat that boosts Hide, max hide skill and gear with as much hide/MS as possible, even then it wasn't impossible to spot them all the time.
Stealthy +2, SFH +3, Skill 33, items roughly +50, Dex mod roughly 14 = 103 already, and I suspect they possibly had trackless step for +4 wildernes, 107, with maybe some other kind of boosts, but none off the top of my head right now other than some higher Dex. *ESF hide for 117, or 114 without the trackless step.
My spotter with all the things I have that can boost the skil gets 102-4ish with it all not including FE bonus', but at the time I only was sitting on 97 when trying to spot the other and never had the FE bonus' toward them.

That's a pretty strong build though, isn't it? Is there anything I can do to make it stronger with those minimum skill investments in mind? Would you say I need to go for ITWF? I imagine I'll be using ranged and melee quite evenly, but IKD benefits from dagger focus rather than crossbow/sling. Otherwise I'd probably get rapid reload and save feats. My philosophy is that be as silly as you want as long as you capitalise on every skill point, ability, class feature, feat, etc. If you want to be sneaky and charismatic, you should make a class combination that benefits from both however inane that would turn out. Otherwise I'd be driven on the verge of insanity knowing the fact my build could be better still. And 'RP skills' are a total waste, because there's absolutely no demand for it from the DMs or mechanics. Also, I get a kick out of gimmicks. There's nothing like the gratification you get in LoL for playing those "underrated" champions and totally acing it. These are the few inexplicable liberties I take in life versus an otherwise rational outlook on life. Do as you please, you know what'll benefit your style of playing the most. Crossbows are the kewl, and with the basic necessities for a sneaky character that you've already got covered, your build is strong indeed.

On the subrace page it says Ogrillion's get +2 Natural AC, is that a typo or is that accurate?

It isn't natural AC in the sense that it is the unstackable variety of AC afforded by the neck slot or barkskin. If I recall correctly it fits under the umbrella of other sources of AC, so it stacks with everything.

Hmm, my only point with the spotting is a dedicated hider has an effective +15 vs you due to a -1 Wis spotter if both have the same feats/skill ranks/+50 gear/spell cap. I didn't mean to say you wouldn't spot some/most stealthers. I meant that you are still gambling on a good d20 roll with the odds against you in this situation and personal preference here I don't like to depend that heavily on nwn RNG. Also, the listen focus etc, not sure how useful it is due to the way listen vs spot mechanics work in NWN. Though if it fits for RP more power to you.
As for lockpicking, the max nwn DC is 127 yes? If there are locks of that level you require 33 points in the skill and I sit corrected, unless you can get better than +10 Thieves tools here. At which case you would need one less skill rank per point over +10 thieves tools. Formula is as follows:
33 skill ranks + 14 (From Dex of 38) + 20 roll on d20 + 50 from gear/spells + 10 Thieves Tools = 127.
As for Crippling Strike definitely worth it. Don't ditch it for Slippery Mind, but Slippery Mind might be better than ESF: Spot. Also why bother with meeting Epic Dodge requirements and not picking it up? It trumps Armorskin in most situations.

Oh, I forgot to mention Epic Dodge. Yes, it's definitely there as the lvl 27 general feat. EWS from fighter bonus feat, Great Dex II from MS and ESF from Rogue.
Skill Focus: Listen is a Master Scout prerequisite, unfortunately. I don't intend to put any more than the required 2 points into the skill.
Are you sure Thieves' Tools don't count towards the +50 cap? The Wiki doesn't comment, I had assumed they do. Either way, not sure what else I'd do with a skill point or two.

Thieves tools count as a mechanical advantage to one roll since they are consumed in the process. So they stack with the +50. I forgot about MS requirements good call and glad you are taking epic Dodge, that might open up an extra Epic Feat as AS isn't really needed when you are a dex build with Epic Dodge with shield proficiency they are already going to need a 20 to hit you. Might look at boosting your Fort/Will saves instead. Either way I think we can all agree you have a strong build, just need to tweak it for RP/Personal taste.

Skip expertise please . you'll have AC out of your butt anyway Take saves feats or something. A rogues fortitude always suck. I also don't want to be that guy... but lower your cha by 3 , raise your dex to 18, amd you don't need to take 2x great dex feats. Grab another saves feat instead.

Graze the Amia changes as described on the toolbar, then look at the NWN wiki entry on the shifter class. Then, with that knowledge in your mind come back with either a general outline of your objective for the character's build or a rough draft of the build, please. It doesn't pay to be vague.
