I personally don't like the joke.

Disagreeing is one thing, Cerpin, but insulting someone over an opinion is another thing completely.

It's okay if X Player finds porn exciting and the porn banner hilarious. It's okay for Y Player to think it's tacky and tasteless. It's also okay for X and Y Players to say so. But the moment Y Player says it's tacky and tasteless and Z Player insults them, it just became not okay.

It would be a lot better if people just left the snark, oil to the flame, personal attacks, etc out. You don't have to be friends with another player or even like them in the slightest, but if you have a problem with someone there are multiple ways of dealing with it other than insulting them where everyone can see it.

You can PM the player in question in an attempt to resolve and as stated in numerous places, if a resolution can't be found then you can ask a DM to step in to help on the matter, other than that there is no need to make the forum feel like a hostile environment. It's not like IG, where you can not ignore other people and their RP (AKA, disregard IC events as never happening, on an OOC level), on the forums you're making the choice to target other people for whatever reason. If everyone who currently attacks people where can be seen openly stops doing that, you'll be doing the server as a whole a favour, otherwise it's probably best you don't post if you can't hold back on being abrasive.

Liz is cool. She made her point a long time ago when the DMs played along with my little avatar joke, and made it again now. I respect the opinion the same now as I did then. My comment in this thread was just my usual cheekiness, which most of you have learned to see right through but some of you still want to misinterpret it. I didn't think Liz deserved to be called a prude, but she's a big girl and I don't have to smack a player for calling her that. Because she is more tham a pretry green face. She has thoughts and feelings and morals and a decent GPA and lots of friends and best of all conviction...as well as a sense of humor in spite of the fact that she rightfully sees how puerile Disco's change is.

So the banner will stay until Disco takes it down. Whenever that happens. No matter what you say to or about Liz, or the DMs, or your fellow players, or everything that is wrong with the world and the people in it, the banner will not change until then. The sun will set. The moon will rise. You will die. And all of your bluster will be like dust in the wind in a song someone once thought they heard but never wrote or played and then forgot about forever.

I didn't want to see it, I feel the same way as Liz about it...so I just went into my board preferences and changed my board type to subsilver_mini. Problem solved! Now I just have to rely on friends to let me know when Disco's taken down the banner. Even though somethings look weird, it's STILL better than having to scroll-beat my page before it loads so I don't have to see a joke gone wrong.

It is rather clear that this thread and the banner were part of an April Fool joke, and it's also largely known that the 1st of April is considered a day where normal rules of behaviour are loosened a bit, the same way as people put on a mask during Carnival and pretend to be something else for a day.
The one and only reason why the joke and the comments are so mordacious is, I think, only because it was strictly connected to the festivity, and went awry because it has been taken too seriously in the first place. This said, some players took an April Fool more/less seriously than others, and while for some during the first of april is, traditionally, possible to be jerks to each others "for the lulz" it's evident that for others this is just another normal day.

Paradoxically, the joke's purpose from my point of view was exactly to point out what Amia is -not- during any other day. I'd be much happier if this had been so starkly evident it could have never been taken seriously, simply because it's absurd and borderline surreal to believe that anyone on this server could be so tacky.

To those who took it seriously: don't, there was surely no intention to hurt Liz. Or to be actually tacky. As right as you may be, considering it popped out on a special day, that it will be removed soon, that there were hardly ill intenions on anyone's behalf -maybe- you guys are overreacting a little.

To those who laughed about it: alright, 1st of April is over, someone really, really, really didn't like this. The joke is over. As Guardian said:

-Jes busts in with a story about sister. (Liz acquires final piece of Moral Authority Zord and transforms into Moral Overlord. Any further attempts to contest Moral Overlord will result in temper-tantrum.)

-Guardian says Disco asked for no prudes. Indirect statement taken as an insult by Liz.
-Liz sees her words are failing and switches the game plan up a bit. Insert objectification of women clause. (Best post in thread. Not only does she attempt to sway people with an emotionally charged argument, but she insults them, makes them out to be the aggressors, and implies she has more authority on the subject of what should and should not be allowed on Amia forums than the forum owner.)
-Guardian passive-aggressively calls her hysterical.
-Liz takes her victim tokens to the bank.

Page 3:
-Insults people by calling them hormone ridden boys who cannot control their functions. (How many times have you been punched in the face? I'm guessing the answer is less than equal to the amount of 'boys' you've met. If I am right, then I'll set forward the notion that men can control their hormones.)
-Calls herself a big girl. (Mirrors can't argue with you.)
-"I do insist that I have the right not to be insulted." (Sorry. Rights end when you violate others'.)

Page 4:
-"Nah nah nah I can't hear you."


Final assessment:
-If one demands respect and then does not reciprocate it, they are granted a victim status based on the amount of perceived insults they receive.
-The minority status of women makes a woman's opinion 75% more valuable than that of a man.
-The forum should invest in a double minority, with an opinion value of 306.25%, to devalue the opinions of monominorites and force everyone into checking their privilege.
