I've downloaded the update, but for some reason, people with hoods over their heads seem to have dark grey, featureless faces. Am I doing something wrong? :? I selected "overwrite" when copying the new files over.

It's no bug, it's just the helmet appearance for a hood. :)

It'd certainly be a crappy hood if you could see the 'persons' face clearly. :D

I don't know, when people wear hoods in real life, I can see their faces pretty clearly. Try it.

Yeah, it just depends on the hood. You need something like a Jedi robe or a hooded monk one to actually conceal your face. Regular hoods don't cut it. heh.

There's hooded cloaks anyway that give you the open-face hood, so that's good enough.

I don't seem to have any of these new heads to choose from when making a new character. I have deleted and re-downloaded the head pack with the same result?

What gives?

Have to ask a DM in game to change it to the one you want, for you.

It has been in my design folder for a while and is waiting for Sune to put it up on the website. Likely been just overlooked due to the recent lag-fix.

Yup, finally beginning to catch up on my backlog now that the lag issue is dealt with.

On that note, the new version is up and in the usual place.

The lazy may download it here.

If you already downloaded this a few weeks back and just want the bug-fixed version, then download this one instead.

Also a big thank you to Euriga who pampered up two of the female elven (132 and 134) heads and designed us a completly custom made head for female human characters (Number 143).

The first post now also got a update with all correct reference numbers and links provided by Sune in the post above.

Hello everyone. I'm having issues with heads overrides: i've got the one in the optional downloads and the one listed here, but still I don't see some heads of various toons. How can I solve?

Having troubles trying to get Human Male #146 to work. What does the DM need to change my head to in game for this to work? These instructions are really ambiguous.

We tried 107 and 146, both are versions of the crappy-dreads-head.

146 is the head you require. If 146 has dreads then you still have the old head.

1. Redownload the headpack either from the link provided in the optional download page or from this topic.
2. Move the content into your override folder.
3. Say 'yes' to every file that gets overwritten. (Heads like 146 will only work if the old file is replaced by the new)
4. Profit

Is there any update on updating the head references? Also, can we get some of these heads available on character creation or does that require another hak? :)

For the update of the head references you will need someone who can alter the website, so I got no idea about that.

As to making more heads available on character creation, the awnser is that nwn only allows you to select certain model numbers. It is actually of an advantage to us, as it prevents players from selecting heads reserved for npcs and special requests.

Hey,

I have question on this post. I've updated my overides and when I go make a character. Some of the heads that are offered for the elves aren't presence. Is there a step i'm missing? Or do I have to request a trip to the Leto?

No. Not all of the heads are selectable at character creation. You can ask a DM in game to change it for you.

It relates to the haks IIRC, and the new heads aren't really part of the hak.

You cannot select most heads on character creation. You have to ask a DM to swap it in game, which is free and does not require a request (unless you want some monster head which would be for example the Ilithid, Gnoll or Undead heads).

This has nothing to do with a hak and won't change with a hak update, but is simply due to a limitation of the game only being able to offer an amount of x heads to be selectable on character creation.

Wouldn't a DMIG-less solution be to make an NPC like the GoboKobo changes that allow you to change your head as long as you don't have a Player Key? (To stop people changing heads every day). Ofc you'd still need DMIG to change a character's head if they've entered the game, but for new characters at least you can change the head without DM aid.

that'd be neat. but then again some limit must be placed, because for some of the heads you need a formal request.

If you make a male character, chose one of the hak head models. Then before you hit play, go back to Gender selection, chose your portrait then go back to 'customize', you should end up being able to select some of the female head pack heads.

Only works with humans, afaik.

I think it's just easier to ask a DM in game though.

Is there a possible way of using a head model on a different race or is this something that might look weird or isn't doable on a technical issue. I ask because I'd would kind of like to see something for a dwarf female with braided hair and the Human 171 looks close enough without having to design and model another head.

No, the models are tied to the 'PC skins' afaik. Unless someone makes the same head for the new race/skin then no way to do so.

There are not many dwarven female heads, and most of them you cannot change the eyecolor, and several for some reason seem to have green lips (???).

Is it possible to have more of the heads be a little more color customizable like the other races, or is that a big coding / hak pack type of change?

I am by no means pressing to have it done, I was just considering the possibility of making a dwarven character and was scoping things out in the toolset.

I am just curious, as somebody who knows literally nothing about the behind the scenes of the game, what it would take for that sort of work on the heads.

It'd need someone remaking the heads and adding the option to allow that, and however much work that is for each individual head, afaik.

In addition with Eurgiga leaving Amia, we have no one with experience of making head changes like that, afaik. I will be looking through the vault in search of additional heads though, so when we include those made by Eurgiga, I would also include a few new ones.

Each individual head takes varying amounts of time. For a simple change like texturing you don't even need to load NWNMax and the process can be done in about 20 minutes at the most. It's complex though, so learning it is a pain- expect to spend a couple days minimum learning how to deal with layered .tga files and GIMP.

Making a new head from scratch takes considerably longer, sometimes 8-10 hours even if you cannibalize other models to provide building blocks. There's any number of minute details and tricks to working on heads that I had to basically come up with myself (otherwise it'd take infinitely longer using methods most people recommend). As a result, I think my production time may be far lower than most modelers, so to be fair I'd estimate any actual changes to the model itself would require about 3x the time I estimated using the tutorials available (you have to do a complete skin remap for even a tiny change in the mesh).

I still check the forums now and then. I never said I was gone for good (note that this doesn't mean I'm coming back either, I'm leaving my options open). I'm happy to provide tips or info on how to do all of this, though it may be a week or more between checks of the forum.

I will be honest, I wish I was as talented as you are and could make my own heads and stuff..

I would like to submit my problem (or request?) here, and hopefully someone will be willing to solve it (pleaaase!)

Setting:

Quote:
Members of her community have distinctive natural birth marks on their body. Saya’s has four blue stripes on her face - two on each of her cheeks, going towards her ears. She also has a mark circling her forehead, as well as one covering her neck. A whirl-shaped mark is also found in each of her palms and unknown to all but Saya and maybe a very select few that raised her when she was a baby, she has blue stripe marks on the side of her breasts.

My character Hanamori Saya has a head model that very few ever uses. The fact is, it is very easy to understand why it isn't used.. it isn't that it doesn't look pretty, it's just that the actual tattoos on it (as they are right now) make it a serious pain to deal with. It is however by far the one head model that fits Saya the most - both for the haircut and all these strange marks that I emote in game as presented in that quote.

This is how that head model works:
Image

So, in order for Saya's face to look like her skin is light blue and has the dark blue stripe/marks on it, she needs her entire body's skin to dark blue and then her 2 tattoo colors to light blue (Saya's face configuration is the second picture)

Problem:

That means Saya can pretty much never wear clothes that reveal her skin (this has become part of her personality - but..) otherwise her skin color (which is set as dark blue in order for the "marks" to look dark blue) will not match with her face.

BUT!... Saya is going through several psychological and personality changes. The more she delves into her fey heritage, the less she... is bothered by showing skin or being reserved. I am now to a point where Saya could pretty much allow herself to reveal a bit more of her skin, but I am mechanically prevented from doing that because of how her skin/tattoo colors have to be configured for it to work.

Request:

Would it be possible for someone to switch the color pattern around on that head model to create a new one that would allow for more user-friendly custumization for the marks?

Notice how I am not asking for it to be a completely different new head model that would have these tattoos/marks to fit perfectly for Saya's description - I am comfortable with that head model the way I have it configured, but I simply dislike the idea that I have to this weird color set-up and have her entire body turned to dark blue for her marks to be dark blue, while her tattoos are both set to light blue to represent that her skin is light blue (but it only shows on her face).

To better examplify that, here is picture of Saya with clothes (awful clothes!) and one when she doesn't have any.

Image

Her skin color is supposed to be like she has on her face, and her marks are dark blue. If I she wears anything that shows her skin, it technically ICly means she has these marks all over her body... or that her marks are what is currently her skin color?

I got a little bored and cracked open the old tools. How's this? Weighs 1090 polygons, less than half of some of the other heads already ingame. The tattoos are seamless so they'll vanish if you match the skin tones (for most skin tones, some don't match period), making it a decent general-inclusion head as well.
