How many of you that play in Amia have your Music on when you play? How many of you have your Voices on? How many of you have your Sound FX on?
How many of you eschew them altogether?
And if you do use them, in what combination do you use them? (i.e., Music and Voices, no Sound FX; Sound FX & Voices, no Music, etc.)
I do have a point in asking, but I've always been curious about what the average usage or non-usage really is. How many people take advantage of that element of the game and how many would rather listen to Pandora or something?

I have music turned off but other sounds on, and generally play something else in the background, matched to the volume level of the game.
Occasionally I like to put the music on, but usually I just leave them off out of laziness/forgetfulness even if I'm not listening to anything else.
Normally I keep the music turned on in games where in contributes to the narrative, but games like Amia, Skyrim or strategy games I tend to turn it off after I've heard it all. It's hard to consider the music as signifying something when it's the same few tracks playing over and over again, regardless of the mood of the scene actually playing out on the screen.

Ok, I will take the survey 1. music off (most of the time, but I like to listen to it occasionally). 2. voices on! 3. sound FX on.

Similarly here.
1. Music off mostly (other soundtracks in the background) 2. Voices on 3. Sound FX on (it's good to hear a caster behind you if he's out of your FoV)

I play with sound and voice FX on, but music muted. I prefer to listen to my own thing, and have actually made up a few different playlists for the sort of RP I am engaged in. Music good for mindless PvM, a playlist for plotting and scheming the end of Toril as we know it, a stock fantasy fare, one for killing innocent PCs in horrible ways, and a few other ones that lend to immersion better than a repetitive and generic soundtrack.

Music off, everything else on. Like Nivo I generally have playlists for grinding, RP, grinding RP. I also have a playlist specifically aimed at Naivatkal whenever I see him in game. Originally it was Call me Maybe on an endless looping repeat, but recently I've changed to Wrecking Ball.

I've made several smaller comebacks to Amia, and invariably I always turn on all three for the sake of immersion and nostalgia. It gets boring listening to the same tracks non-stop after a short while, though, so at times, depending on what is going on at hand, I might click my Winamp playlist on shuffle or pick an album I simply want to hear or have something for the situation off pat. The latter is, alas, rather a rare case. But yeah, I'm pretty much with the majority here.

To clarify: contrary to many, I don't actually play any mood-appropriate playlists. I listen to albums I want to/need to listen to. There's so much music out there that to keep up with new releases, discover old gems and return to my regular favorites takes all the time I have. If I didn't listen to music when I play, I'd never have time to hear some albums.

I have everything on most of the time unless I'm in a scenario where I'm not doing much/I'm tired, so I turn all the sound off and listen to my own music.
And msheeler it's noted! The song that plays in Amia Forest in the day I won't not think of Amia Forest if I hear it elsewhere!

And though designer intent is not my core reason for asking, I did consider it. If I were to invest time and energy designing an area, the soundtrack (if any) would be an important part.

I discovered that I actually get highly disoriented when my NWN sound bugs out and won't work. It gets me very agitated. I leave everything on, but music is usually at 10%-40%. I actually don't like a lot of the custom music which I recognise, like the Guild Wars or Mount & Blade stuff. The music is great, it just feels weird to have it running while I'm playing Amia.
I play my own music whenever I feel like it really. I have trouble matching RP to music, and since things can change more quickly than the tracks do, it can be problematic.

Music is on occasionally, usually when exploring new areas to see which tracks the builders picked, but generally off in favor of pandora.
Sound is usually off, except in DM events or during situations where PvP looks like a possibility.
Voices are always off without exception.

I have everything off... and then I put some music on depending on where I am (especially when hunting).
Somehow, I always put the following songs when I hunt at certain locations:
1) Metric - Breathing Underwater. Khem, underwater shipwreck place thing 2) Rhapsody - Rain of a Thousand Flames. Fire giant lair 3) Powerwolf - Drink your blood. Vampire keep 4) Battle Beast - Neuromancer. Illithid
Fun part is that they all are bands that I don't listen to -that- much (if at all), as I am more into bands like The Agonist or Unexpect or Between the Buried and Me than the ones mentioned here.

The voices and FX are always on at 5%, if I am not listening to Grooveshark, Itunes, or radio, then I will have the in-game music on. I do like to have it on occasionally because sometimes the dramatic and often times corny sounds of NWN go well with the action on screen.

I can listen to the NWN music once or twice through before the repetition drives me bonkers. My turning the music off should not be interpreted as commentary on the music itself, msheeler, it's just my inability to hear the same track fifty times in a row.

Everything on, for me.
Quite low more often than not, out of fairness to those I live with. Laptop volume levelling rather than adjusting the mixer though, so that's at its default.
I have considered putting my own collection on in the background, but for the most part I feel it'd A be counterimmersive and B give me a bit more lag.

I like to have all 3 on myself. I do turn the music slightly lower than the sounds and voices so that I can hear them clearly.
I can understand where others might get tired of listening to the same music over and over, but I don't have that problem. As a long time player at the Shrine of Eilistraee, when I would login and arrive inside the Shrine, hearing that music play was part of coming home.
