That could be justified just as well. Does not mean it would be a cool concept, but it's not like it's something we can't comprehend (or that would even break any rules and logic of building). How many child prodigies are there in fiction that work just fine? Franklin Richards is the first fantasy example off the top of my head. It's just that we don't want legions of child PCs on Amia; not that there's something fundamentally nonsensical about them.

Fear my future Bard/Palemaster/Divine Champion of Kelemvor >:I
Well, no reason to actually fear one, mechanically it's terrible... But it makes perfect sense! He's a bard, who wants to live forever so he studies to become a palemaster, doesn't like it and starts hunting undead for Kelemvor. True Neutral, of course, to qualify for Kelemvorite, Bard and Palemaster. *Sagenod* Then I will move onto my Sun Elf Cleric/Bard/Palemaster of Corellon. <.<

Would not mind seeing more of the kind of "change-of-heart" builds as the above, to be honest. To give up half of your powers because you no longer want to use them IC. The example does assume that Kelemvor and, more importantly, the temporal church, would accept a former Pale Master into their ranks. Which may or may not happen.

Stop rationalizing my poorly sarcastic build suggestion. You're making it sound plausible.

My whole point in this topic is that any crude generalisation is inadequate, and that trying to come up with a list of concepts/builds that "surely wouldn't be OK" is pointless.
Despite the above, I am personally not particularly generous when it comes to estimating RP. I just don't do it on the basis of some general principles and blanket attitudes. If you're a bad role-player and if your character is uninspired (at least as grave an offense as being "nonsensical"), I can see it plainly. I don't need to know your build and refer to complex arguments of justification.
In fact, I think the whole argument of "your concept does not make sense, no offense to you" is a cop-out when you're too polite to say "I think your character and writing is a steaming pile of mediocrity". And the fact that you're too polite to say the latter (as true as it may be) should probably give some indication as to the apprioriateness of the former, too.

So do I. And the game-of-half-serious-posts-taken-as-entirely-serious-or-maybe-I-am-just-pretending-but-I-am-really-serious-and-not-knowing-will-rob-you-of-your-sleep-forever began.
Also yes, this thread needs more druid levels. And monk levels, and just a single level or rogue.
If it's any consolation, I feel exactly the same way about people 'dipping' in to Shadowdancing to the extent that it's just used at HiPS and Shadowjump enhancements to sneakers.
I agree with this a hundred percent. I have been guilty of it once before (though RP wise and race wise it made sense and was more than 6 SD), but shadowdancing requires dedication, and not a big fan of the random 6 SD being throw into any build. I made sure at least that my SD went through the academy back then (And my more current 20 SD did again) and studied what it takes to be an SD. I very well MAY be wrong, but I've seen a good amount of random builders just combining SD for just the HIPs and shadowjump without regards for the SD lore. But I digress.
Child PCs becoming anything strong as a child should never happen IMHO, and I HATE RDD/PM/Bards soooooo much. Just the cheesiest build in my opinion.
I'm a bit late bringing these up.

1: You are not allowed to hide RDDness, you cannot conceal the wings with a cloak. If you take levels you should give some indications that the character is a dragon disciple.
2: Same goes for palemasters. They can hide the bone arm under clothing, but if they have an armor appearance that makes the bone arm look normal and they still use it, it's a rule breach. Palemastery is also quite identifiable even without the bone arm.
3: You can't use builds that clash in alignment requirements (bard/paladin, paladin/blackguard, etc) Edit to add on this: We have in the past had a few cases where there were certain builds out of alignment, like chaotic monks, but such characters wouldn't be allowed to take bard or barbarian without ditching the monk levels first.
4: As 1 and 2, same goes for subraces. If you pick a subrace, you must stick with the correct skin/hair colors, AKA: Chultans must have dark skin, Drow are not allowed to have sun elf skin and hair colors, and vice versa. Genasi/Tieflings should have planar indications, etc.
Above all, the encompassing rule is: If you pick a class or subrace, you're obligated to RP it. Some classes have stricter requirements than others, fighter and rogue are pretty lax, but RDD or Palemaster come with a lot of strings attached, as do the divine classes, especially blackguards. But if you're mechanically allowed to do it, you may.
Emphasis mine. Yes, there are rules about builds. But be VERY careful how you point them out to the Dev team, if you point them out at all (I suggest you dont). One of the reasons I was tagged as toxic and elitist was complaining about a build using over 5 druid levels, going about in plate and Katana in hand, when I was playing a druid myself. That was the ultimate reason I left Amia.
I used to think Dead was just an arrogant git for talking about Palemastery roleplay they way he does. Now I applaud him and wonder how he is still sane trying to stick to the Lore for his character, when so many dont give a crap about it, as long as it can kill Frosty for fat loot.

The only visual indication is the undead (It does not have to be bare bone) arm graft at level six. You do not lose any charisma, and the "partial mummification" granted at 10th level is obviously an intrinsic operation. It points out to some internal organ replacement with undead counterparts. "Bone skin" is NWN nonsense that does not exist in PnP and as such I will continue to assume that pale master level progression is not visible to naked eye, should one take necessary steps to hide their undead arm. Even a well-fed vampire can appear pretty much impeccably human, and those things are 100% undead. Pale masters are not.
I resent these arbitrary statements that certain prestige classes should not, or could not ever conceal their unusual features. Way to try and limit the scope of roleplay, guys.
Read what I said. There's an armor arm model out there which has a normal looking arm with a band on it, which would be a rule violation, because well, it's a completely normal looking arm and the character replaced it with a skeletal appendage.
Bottom line is, you can IC try and disguise it, but you can't pretend like it doesn't exist.
There is also context regarding how these things are pointed out and discussed. It never helps to get bitter or hostile over broken rules, nor builds that one simply doesn't like.
A large amount of people, myself included, FOUND reasons to get that last level in Tumbleclass
I RP my cheese very carefully. You need to really get in the mindset of what kind of cheese you're hoping to portray. A good block of swiss is a resilient character, though prone to gaps in the personality. Mozarellas are flexible, adaptable people, though care must be taken so that the RP doesn't dry out over time. Sometimes it's best to stick with a cheddar for familiarity and simplicity if you're new to the cheese genre. Keep in mind your color, textures and odor when portraying your cheese, in order to remain convincing.
I knew there was something strange about your statement, and it does appear that I saw an apostrophe where there wasn't one. I agree that one should never pretend that the undead arm didn't exist at all. As for the whole wing-concealment thing, well... A 9-foot tall orog and a 2-foot tall halfling can wear the same set of magical boots and the same magical cloak, etcetera. I've always thought that magical junk therefore somehow accomodates to their wearers, hence one could even hide a set of large wings within a cloak-- but I suppose it would not be unreasonable to assume that it made them look like hunchbacks in turn.

It must be no coincidence that when discussion of Cheese occurs, a lot of Wine follows soon after.
I'm calling it, this thread has officially disappeared up its own asshole.
Assholedancing!
