Alright. I already announced some hairy business coming up. Here it is.. our dwarven alternate beginning!

The Background:

As the dwarves of Barak Runedar paid a visit to Mithril Halls in the Spine of the World event, they made contact with the dwaves there and wanted to try and establish a trade arrangement.

The King of Mithril Halls, along with his council, agreed that a trade would be acceptable if they can find a way to establish this with the difficulties of trade routes, as Mithril hall has no port. They furthermore decided such would be easier accomplished with a trade of personell to work on this on both ends and also have a cultural exchange to go with it, as usually clans rarely leave their areas. So some "fresh blood" also is a good thing in the old settlement.

One of the bigger clans in number, the Thunderhammer clan, volunteered for this exchange.

The Prequisites:

- Race: Dwarf (Shield or Gold, please contact me first for universal subrace combinations like dwarven aasimar, tiefling or genasi)
- Class: Any (Clerics most wanted)
- Faith: Any Dwarven (Abbathor disencouraged)
- Hair: Plenty
- Gender: Any (would be cool to have a female or two aswell though)
- Names: Any first name within our naming rules, Clan Name is to be Thunderhammer
- You should read up at least a few basics about Mithril Halls.
- Restrictions: While alts are okay in a general sense, please make sure you do not have an alt in Barak Runedar unless he/she is fully retired.

FAQ

- Can I play a special subrace of dwarf, special class or anything the like?
Yes, however this still falls under our "to be requested rule". Post your request in the request topic or send it via PM on the forum to me if you do not want it public.

- I only just made a dwarf, I don't want to make just another. Can I still join?
If you only made the character, are still below level 10 and have not excessively roleplayed another background yet, we likely can still work it in. Please send me a PM with the details of your character.

- Will this be fully player run?
Not fully, no. One of the Clan members will be an NPC to make this a little easier.

Please ask any questions here if you feel several people would benefit of the answer or send me a PM if it is a more personal question.

The times where I am about will mostly be evening GMT during weekdays. However, I do not always need to be around. For weekends I can also shedule a more US or Australian friendly time. That is however then limited to the weekends where I do not have to work the next days.

While my boss is used to me looking like a zombie... I don't want to stretch it. :P

Also... forgot another prequisite. Plenty ale.

Cheers.

I'll take the plenty Ale comment as an encouragement for me to be shitfaced should I get in.

It is compulsory to be drunk when RPing a dwarf, I think that should be a given.

But to be helpful, if any are interested on reading up on Mithral Hall give R.A. Salvatore's many many books a flick through.. you know the ones about the adventures of that awesome dwarf Bruenor Battlehammer and his sissy drow sidekick called Drizzt Do'Nerden or something.

Or if you're lazy there is.. this which is more or less substantial enough for starters.

The 2nd ed source book Dwarves Deep is also essential reading on the stunty folk.

Happy gaming!

I live in Australia but because I'm a shit shift worker I usually get on more around evening GMT, though maybe a bit too early. Weekends are no good for me sadly.

That said. Yessss I totally want to do this :D will think about it.

That was in reference to the Aurilites!

And yes, Dorf RP is quickly snowballing in to one of the most active factions!

First off, this was already asked a few posts above. Apart of 1-2 who shoped up occasionally, the others all never showed up anymore for any meetings I made. I will however conclude that still.

Second off... not the topic for this.

The misunderstood feelings of many a folk! Everyone wants and means to make a dwarf, some are just to intimidated by our vicious good looks to give into their desires. Afraid! Afraid it will be as legend suggests of awesomesauce like activities and brotherhood. Judge not, least ye beard be to yer waist youngins. A fool who can't hold their ale, is a fool deserved of bad bargains and misdeeds. Die not a useless unneeded death, but sacrifice for kin and honor earns hallowed rest, toasts and boasts of deed and fall. The honored dead, respected and loved, rest in their stone alcoves watched over by the Silent Keeper. Having maneuvered the gods into overseeing the dwarven dead, Dumathoin the ever vigilant, the Keeper of Secrets, keeps the Soulforger's children safe in their eternal slumber.

Moradin, the All Father, the Soulforger, created the dwarves at his forge using the earth and sweat to forge the dwarves. As they tempered in the fire of the soul forge, Moradin fought against primordials to protect his children. Once returned to his creations the blood from battle soaked in and hardened the dwarves as they cooled, forever binding all dwarves to the Soulforger, and each other, as kin and in cause.

The Morndinsamman watch gruffly over the All Father's children, further hardened by what the future holds for the dwarfkin. Yet hope and pride will always remain, for they each know in their own ways, dwarves will not yield, will not concede ground already taken. They watch as the All Father's creation craft, toil, battle, and love their way across the eons of time. Dwarves will hold their ground, will fight the bitter odds, gods' names upon their lips, blood filling their boots. The Soulforger fought, bled, and held his ground so that his children could cool and take those first breaths of life.. Dwarves, will hold their ground.

When will applications close? Is there a time limit, or a limit to the number of players? I'm still mulling things over and I don't know if I should hurry up or not.

No limit in numbers.

I wanted to leave it up for at the very least a week before starting so people have time to see it or be pointed towards it.

Alas... it seems I will have a surgery on the 11th of March and I am pondering it it might not be better to start after since... in a week thats almost there already. :?

I would appreciate having more time to think of it and develop something (my character enthusiasm is unlikely to die, since I've had the idea in my head for months), although I suddenly worry if my schedule changes coming in about 6 weeks will get in the way!

Do you have some background information on the Thunderhammer Clan, or are you waiting to see what kind of PCs develop in the Clan to determine what this Clan may have been through/experienced to date?

I was going to ask something similar to that regarding what (if anything) to put in the character description - for now I have left mine blank.

I made a dwarven Cleric some while back but never could get into playing her bc there was no one around to rp with :/ She's still sitting in my archive waiting to be brought back into service.

Oh.. also she is from Citadel Felbarr as part of the Warcrown Clan...

Okay so I think it's best to have this start after my surgery so in about 2 weeks.

For one it gives folks time to work out the details and for the other I'd hate to start and then drop out for a week right away. Also, I am not allowed to work for about 2-3 weeks after the surgery anyways so it gives me a bit more time flexibility for the initial events.

I would come up with rough details about the clan. I can go more in depths if it is wanted but I usually wouldn't want to restrict people too much in their personal character development. So up to you folks how much you want as guidelines here!

Hope everything works out!

Can we tool around town RP'ing / exploring with our new Dorfs until it starts? - or should we "put them in the vault" until it starts?

Perhaps someone can start a discussion about the the Hammers to give you some help as well, in the meantime? Then you can "hammer" out all the details afterwards? :-)

Take care Amarice and hope your surgery goes smoothly!

Should I get my clerics last name changed now or wait?

My opinion about backgroud is that rough background from you sounds great. Then let us go from there. Corralling us back in as needed. :)

Alright folks. Sorry this all took longer than I had hoped. After the surgery I had a thrombosis. And then a flu. All good things are three, eh?

Well I am starting to finally feel a bit better and I was hoping/aiming for starting this next weekend.

The Thunderhammer clan is one of the oldest clans of Mithril Halls, though not the oldest. They are however, very well respected there and are the third largest clan in numbers. While still very traditional in their ways, they are one of the more open minded clans, which is one of the reasons why they were the ones to agree to this mission. Of course they are still wary of the common enemies of the dwarves.

The clan has four main branches. The warriors, the smiths and miners, the clergy and the Tradesmen. The branches are not strictly seperated and often overlap.

The clan leader is Torean Thunderhammer. He of course remains in Mithril Hall however. Joining the group of dwarves who go on this mission will be Algear Thunderhammer. He's one of the elders of the clan, a battle proof cleric and champion of Moradin.

Well... ultimatly it is up to you, guys.

I personally feel an introduction event so that everyone who got there 'together' actually does get there together and sees the others of their clan (so you actually know abit about eachother) would be nicer.

If you feel that is unnecessary or that it is unlikely we can manage to arrange a time then so be it.

But an official introduction between the new clan and the Barak Runedar dwarves sounds a bit more... not sure how to say... how it likely would go down if a new clan gets introduced to an established settlement?

Okay... good and bad news.

Bad news it was a real up and down still health wise and I had a ton of extra stress at work.

Good news... some holidays are coming up so let's get this done.

I will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday all day at any time this week. And also most of Monday. Monday has the restricion of not starting past 10 pm GMT as I have to work next day there.

Friday, Saturday ad Sunday I would not care about the time at all.

So shoot, when do we wanna do this?

Okay, sadly only one person seemed to have time after my recovery and before my holiday.

So I assumed it is best to wait until I am back in the county and have time. I am since yesterday.

If there is still interest of at least 3 people I will gladly run this still.

Just post here or send me a PM if anyone is interested still.

Sorry about all the fuss but my recovery took far longer than expected and then time was already close to my long booked travel.
