Ooooh I am really interested now in this STR based ranger with the two bladed sword! Never managed to use it and I am pretty curious! Could you please develop the concept? Would be cool also with an interesting race if possible.

could someone help me and my friend optimize a shifter build for the vampire form? we're doing this for rp but would like it to be viable as well..so far the best advice we've been given is "go 5druid/6 monk/19 shifter and take impr crit:unarmed"

this is what vampire form entails as per xl spreadsheet
Disarm, Power Attack, Cleave, Dodge, Weapon Specialisation,
Improved Critical, Spell Penetration, Epic Weapon Focus

Undead Immunities, +3 Regeneration, +6 WIS

neg bust,dom gaze,vampiric touch

26 str/20 dex/20 con

1d10 Creature +4

1d10 Negative, On Hit: Level Drain [DC=26], +3 Vampiric Regeneration

20 Spellcraft & Concentration & Bluff & Persuade & Intimidate

5/+5 DR, 10/- Cold

immun negative

It's pretty tight. You'll be shooting for Str18, Dex10, Con12, Int10, Wis14, Cha8. When I originally worked on (read: got someone to design) the build it was for a dwarf, but pretty much any race without a str penalty can pull it off. Dwarf is kinda bad but more doable. For elf go wood elf for the str bonus, human's probably the best choice (you can take Exotic Weapon Prof without sacrificing, say, knockdown). Half-elves suck in general but only slightly worse than dwarf for the build, half-orcs are alright. It probably works alright for ECL races, and maybe strongheart halfling is a good option too.
Your AC is going to suck no matter what, but it'll be tolerable with light armour and well-buffed dex - Leather's probably best as it will give you the same base AC as plate (+8, although they can get +9 with dex above 10), otherwise you've got studded leather which ceilings at +7.

Put all points into str and take the basic melee feats (Exotic prof, weapon focus, blindfight, imp crit, KD if you're human) as well as prereqs for devcrit (Power attack, Cleave, Great Cleave). In epic levels go for devcrit and the usual melee feats. So far I'm going with Ranger25/Fighter4/Rogue1, but basically any build that can fit 9 ranger can do this. If you can somehow fit divine shield you'll be smiling, because it's a good way to shore up the build's biggest weakness. But, you'll need to mess around a bit to buff cha to 14 minimum, depending on race. And then you'll be in the fun position of trying to max str, dex and cha through items. It's really, really messy and I'm not that good at building, so I can't promise it will be fun to play. Definitely sounds interesting to me though.

You probably need monk-levels here. 5druid/6Monk/19Shifter is the way to go. Hang on a second..

Edit: http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/5836/iclh.png Found it! Just replace SD with Monk and remove dodge/mobility! <3

Halflings cannot wield large weapons. Unfortunately these builds are all inferior to the same build dual wielding two light weapons which allows for shield use (up to +8 AC) as needed with no loss of AB. You can make one that's decent if you don't mind knowing that his twin wielding two shorts swords could kick his ass any day of the week.

Out of curiousity, can anyone explain to me the difference between the LE/NE/CE epic fiendish summons for the BG. Like is one more of a tank, the other more damage, one more balanced, or a spell caster. I can't seem to find information on this, and would enjoy knowing if it's worth taking the feat, if it's even going to benefit the build?

Wooops. Seems i didn't read what was already written! Forget what i wrote before.
Unarmed forms as a shifter aren't "unarmed" per se; They use claw/bite/gore and slam attacks (Creature weapons for short) which can be found http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Creature_weapon Here.

Unarmed attacks focus doesn't work; And even if you were to take it - Most forms already have the weapon focus feats. Some even have Epic weapon focus feats.

You are better off taking general feats like
Blind fight
Weapon finesse
Spell focus Evocation
greater spell focus evocation
Spell penetration
Greater spell penetration
???
(Human extra) ???

Oh yeah, why did I say halfling? Anyway - yes, absolutely, they're inferior. But they're the only half-decent way to get double-weapon wielders to work aside from standard WM I guess (though lacking BoE I think you might still end up bumming out, except on crits). Also, you can still monkeygrip it? Although that does kind of defeat the purpose.

Yes and no, because most epic forms have improved critical already and weapon focus, too.

And how about a feytouched bard, BG, CoT? Focus on charisma for DS and DM and possibly Epic inspiration. (Yeah, I am in love with a charismatic evil guy!)

It'd go Bard12/BG6/Fighter2 pre-epic. Feats are PA, Cleave, Curse, Extend, Maximise, Divine Shield, Divine Might, WF, Blindfight, Imp crit (if human). Epic'd be EWF, WS, EWS, Armorskin, Lasting Winspiration. It's still a solid build, and the duration of Divine Shield and Might stand at 9 rounds with base CHA 16, only the damage and AC bonus are capped at 6.

Describe the personality, the concept, the driving force behind the character - Why do you want to play it? What inspired you? How do you picture him? (Really, pictures help!)

Easily excitable but nice. Overly strict with some younger people.
Concept is that they are a member of 'Most Solemn Order of the Silent Shroud' gravediggers of kelemvor sent to Amia to help with undead issues.
I rather like the idea of beating people down with a shovel <.<;
Shovels inspired me.
No dopubt a heavy coat & with either a hat ior scarf. lantern & shovel style grave digger... most likely female. Albino, pale blond or redhead

Sorry, I'm a newer build, and the summons don't give much of an explanation. Just says what bonuses they get, and what they are. Are they the same as standard DnD templates, as if I looked them up, that's what they are. Trying to figure out for my LE BG if it's a tank, or for a new CE/NE character, if they are all the same, just essentially look different?

Hi there, quick question if I'm building an almost pure babarian with fighter and a bit of rogue...what weapon should i go for...should i go scimitar and shield? or forget ac and just focus on like a greatsword and go damage all the way, pump hp and regen items? the build would have all the babarian rage feats..

All of the combinations you mentioned work just fine. Pick a weapon that would suit the character concept and the culture he comes from.

What should I aim for in terms of a dual short sword ranger? Pure or spread?

You should aim for the search box at the bottom of this page, cos it'll only search this thread, and the first few pages of a query for Ranger will likely cover it. There's not a huge number of ways of doing it well.

Hey everyone I'm pretty much brand new here, and while I have been playing NwN off and on for awhile I have hardly explored the cleric class at all (I have played it in D&D 3.5 though). The reason I want to play a cleric is simple: they come across as relatively self-sufficient and are capable melee combatants, to ease my way into caster characters and allow me to explore by myself when I cannot seem to find anyone of my own level nearby (by the way, finding a party at your own level while also RPing is proving very difficult for me, any tips there would be great as well.) Anyways, I'm sitting on a 24 Cleric / 4 Fighter / 1 Rogue at the moment, build as follows:

Str: 14
Dex: 8
Con: 12
Wis: 18 (20)
Int: 12
Cha: 16 (22)

1 1 Fighter WF: Warhammer, Power Attack, Cleave
2 1 Cleric
3 2 Fighter Knockdown, Blind Fight
4 2 Cleric Cha +1
5 3 Cleric
6 4 Cleric Extend Spell
7 5 Cleric Cha +1
8 6 Cleric
9 7 Cleric Divine Shield
10 8 Cleric
11 9 Cleric Cha +1
12 10 Cleric Divine Might
13 11 Cleric
14 12 Cleric
15 3 Fighter Cha +1 Extra Turning
16 13 Cleric
17 14 Cleric
18 15 Cleric Empower Spell
19 16 Cleric
20 17 Cleric Wis +1
21 18 Cleric EWF: Warhammer
22 19 Cleric
23 20 Cleric
24 4 Fighter Cha +1 WS: Warhammer, EWS: Warhammer
25 21 Cleric
26 22 Cleric
27 23 Cleric Armor Skin, Great Wisdom 1
28 1 Rogue Cha +1
29 24 Cleric

The build caps at 29 because I plan on going Aasimar. I feel I don't need the extra level as 2 rogue, 25 cleric and 5 fighter don't really earn anything special. I know I take WS in epic, but I was reading elsewhere that clerics wishing to abuse Divine Power to the greatest extent should not have 16 BAB pre-epic so that they get two full AB attacks per-round while using Divine Power, or something to that effect. There is no particular reason why the 3rd fighter level is taken at level 15 either. 24 Cleric for un-dispellable and 1 Rogue for the dump. Obviously the downsides are that my offensive spells are not as strong as they could be at max-Wis. There's also a lack of IKD. In theory, you just buff up then hit stuff, keeping my actual casting (something I have little experience with) to a minimum until later levels, at which point I should be relatively comfortable with the process. Also planning on rolling as NG and following Io for Strength and Travel domains (Divine Power + Haste). I can't afford to be evil when I'm going to be asking everyone for help and directions!

Look up Spells from the sidebar, you'll be disappointed: Divine Power no longer grants the extra attack. Huzzah for bringing justice to the people! So in essence, you have to choose between undispellable CL or fourth attack and +1 BAB. Since it won't affect the feats, you seem well off otherwise. Drop Empower for Maximise, though; Empower is mainly a resource for spell book versatility and the empowerment of offensive spells, either of which won't be your focus with the CHA-invested melee godliness. Maximise is a reliable +5 to STR, CHA, CON. Also, be sure to check your domains agree with the portfolio of your deity. Navigate the margin on the left for that also.

I am really not sure which one would perform better, but I'd say lightfoot? +2ECL seems to hurt a lot! But I suck at building anything that is not a wizard so suggestions are welcome!

First and foremost: do you object to Pally20/CoT8/Rogue2? It's the stock model, basically cos of it being the best.

Arvoreen allows paladin rogues, so that would be fine with me!

You could also throw in Monk instead of rogue if sneak attacks make you squeamish in a Paladin. You lose umd though you can wear Monk gear.

Question on Human subraces:

Does the +1 skill point per level stay with the human subraces? what about the univeral races (genasi, aasimar, tiefer).

Thank you!

It stays with Human subraces but the Universal (aasimar, etc) loose it because your race changes to Outsider.

+2 ECL hurts but a paladin build can take it. The -2 str for Lightfoot probably hurts a bit more unless you're crazy like me and want to play a dex-based pally - but I'm not sure how well that suits a Paladin of Arvoreen, even if he (I thought they was a she, oops) allows rogues. Being a very knightly defendery type and all. There was a good build earlier in the thread, Rogue13/Paladin16/Ranger1? You get epic dodge (the only other way is to squeeze Shadowdancer 10 in, which is painful), good saves and good AB which makes you a brutal piece of work with middling to decent damage.

Otherwise strongheart halfling and go str/cha hybrid or just str-based, hard to go wrong with that build.

I'm currently building an Aasimar Halfling pally of Arvoreen!

Going 24/4/1 Pally, Ftr, Monk

20 Pally pre-epic

21-24 FTR getting Weapon Spec+Epic weapon spec at 24

1 Monk somewhere in 28-30

Oh, then I guess I will go strongheart, nice goodies and it will totally fit the toon! Aasimar halfling doesn't ring the bell of my interest, I'd definitely feel I am playing an aasimar rather than a halfling (although the boost to stats must be really helpful).
So what shall I drop on 28 levels, Pal20/CoT6/Rog2 would do the trick? I am in love with highly charismatic builds but I am sure I can't reach a decent level of smiting with only 28 levels and no bonus to stats. The half and half paladin sounds sweet too, but I fear that to rely on IKD is not that smart when I am already a size smaller than anyone else around.

On the other hand to be a smurf with devastasting critical sounds enough fun! What about this?

Strongheart smurf (Paladin20/Champion of Torm6/Rogue2)
STR: 16(18)
DEX: 10(12)
CON: 12(10)
INT: 10
WIS: 14
CHA: 14

Discipline: max
Tumble: 30

01 P1: Weapon Focus (Short Sword)
02 P2: -
03 P3: Blind Fight
04 P4: [STR 19]
05 P5: -
06 P6: Power Attack
07 P7: -
08 P8: [STR 20]
09 P9: Improved Critical (Short Sword)
10 P10: -
11 P11: -
12 P12: Cleave [STR 21]
13 P13: -
14 P14: -
15 P15: Divine Shield
16 P16: [STR 22]
17 P17: -
18 P18: Divine Might
19 P19: -
20 CoT1: [STR 23]
--
21 P20: Extend Spell
22 CoT2: Great Cleave
23 CoT3:-
24 CoT4: Great Strength I [STR 24] - Overwhelming Critical (Short Sword) [STR 25]
25 CoT5: -
26 ROG1: -
27 ROG2: Evasion - Devastating Critical (Short Sword)
28 CoT6: Epic Weapon Focus (Short Sword) [STR 26]

Notes: I don't like dump stats. Is Short Sword actually a good choice? Better a two-handed? Can I pick DevCrit on a rogue level? I prefer to end with CoT so I can max Discipline.

Get 21 Paladin levels for +5 AB/Damage outta Divine Favor. Replace Rogue with Monk. You really won't need UMD on Amia if you play your cards right.

21/6/1. I would say that a monk level is thematically more appealing for a paladin, than a rogue one.

If I pick said Monk level at level 22, that would save me one feat? At that point, I could only toss in 25 Tumble points but then I can avoid to pick Cleave in pre-epics (Extended Spell jumps in). That should make room for one extra feat in epics (Armor Skin or Epic Prowness).
Cons: I get a 20%XP penalty starting from level 22.

Paladin21/Champion of Torm6/Monk1

01 P1: Weapon Focus (Short Sword)
02 P2: -
03 P3: Blind Fight
04 P4: [STR 19]
05 P5: -

10 P10: -

13 P13: -
14 P14: -
15 P15: Divine Shield
16 P16: [STR 22]
17 P17: -
18 P18: Divine Might
19 P19: -
20 CoT1: [STR 23]
--
21 P20: Epic Weapon Focus (Short Sword)
22 M1: Cleave, Evasion, Tumble 25
23 CoT2: Great Cleave
24 CoT3: Great Strength I [STR 24][STR 25]
25 CoT4: Overwhelming Critical (Short Sword)
26 P21: -
27 CoT5: Devastating Critical (Short Sword)
28 CoT6: Armor Skin/Epic Prowness(?) [STR 26]

Am I missing anything?

Hmm, hey guys, I have to say this is my first lvl 30 server I've played on. I was thinking of making a wizard assassin combination, as I'd think the natural INT would be beneficial to both, but trying to think of a build to go with. What sort of weapons, or if the build is actually even doable/useful on this server? I'm unfortunately not that great at making builds. Always get cool ideas, just never know how to spread them out etc.

Was thinking something like 17 wizard 3 fighter 10 assassin (Air Gensai-+2 Intelligence, +2 Dexterity, -2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma, Bonus Feat: Darkvision, Spell-Like Ability: Gust of Wind)

If someone could come up with a list for me, would be greatly appreciated. Part of me was thinking that it'd either be Long Bow if it depended on it's summons with tensers transformation, or go with dual wielding short swords, or some sorts and be in close and personal with mage armor?

Hi there, new guy here. Played a lot of NWN2 online, but mostly kept to NWN1 single player and modules so far.
The mage changes here really got me interested such as spell focus giving bonuses, and the huge summon variety.
I love playing summoner wizards so I'd like some help on how to build one. I'm not really a die hard pvp fan but I'd like my character to at least be able to win some fights in case it happens. Character base would be a Human Neutral Wizard of Oghma, really have no idea about the feats.
I was planning on having the spider familiar and the vermin type as I like critters that debilitate enemies, but how viable are their DCs/attributes? As a pure wizard it'd be nice if I could buff them all and support from affar only. Summon types can also be subject to a change, the only ones I'd rather not summon are the fiendish types as they tend to draw the ire of goodie characters and being my first character I'd rather not get shafted out of a lot of potential rp by becoming an outcast/hated etc.
Then again, I could also change him to a Pale Master of Velsharoon as I'm a necro fan too, depending on how decent the PM undead summons are, read some nice things about this Tarkuul city and it looks like a nice hub to support that kind of character with all the rp he could wish considering I'd end up being an outcast eventually because of all the undead, necro arm and hiding those things is bound to fail at some time.

I really like the vermin summons. They can't tank very well but they have really interesting offensive capabilities.

In general, there is no way to build a full caster that would suck. Just dive in.

Also, undead get way more flak than fiends.

What? If you want to survive -Any- pvp in the near future against seasoned players (Which is 90% of the server) I suggest taking UMD. :|

Theoretical question:

Which is more superior in pvp. Str based warriors. (Ie. Fighters/babarians, with umd and tumble dump) vs Dex based warriors. (ie. a mix of rogue for lots of sneak, rangers, maybe some weapon master with epic dodge). In actual pvp scenarios where they dont have all day to buff and ready themselves. Which would your bet be on? Imagine both have maxed out umd, tumble and decent gear.

If they are each similar in gear and access to useable items, etc, then the DEX. Epic Dodge + Higher AC is what sets it apart.
