Hello,
I'm curious about something that I have heard mentioned in player conversations. When an aasimar is near a fiendblood such as a tiefling, do they become influenced by the presence to the point of extreme anger that they cannot help? Are there any sources that explain this?

The sources have always been scarce and left to the imagination [Citation needed], but the blood feuds are a thing in Amia.
Celestials and Fiends/demons have been waging a war for so long that it is part of their nature to hate their counterpart. The fun question would be asking whether if these feelings are purely instinctual as, and I repeat myself, part of their nature or something else, something magical bred into the blood rather than part of what we could call the evolution.
Aasimars and tieflings are ought to be influenced by each other. It all depends on how much the characters allow themselves to be influenced by their blood to act this. IE; they could even be lovers of friends, albeit a part of them would scream bloody murder and maybe try to make itself manifest. It falls entirely into what is each character and what may their ascendancy be precisely. IE 2: A succubus-descended doesn't necessarily react in the same manner as a balor-descended. It's an important piece of the characters that is not ought to be dismissed and part of the challenge that is playing an outsider of these types.
The same rule applies to metallic and chromatics dragons (and I would argue that it excludes disciples) and who knows how many other racial feuds? Gnomes and kobolds! Orcs and elves! Dwarves and giants! Demons and fiends! Disclaimer: I am no DM, and this is just my opinion of it. What I write here is only my perception and I may not be 100% accurate.

Ice nailed the coffin: whether its by blood, philosophy or by action an aasimar and a tiefling will clash at some level. How they clash is dependent upon the character's behaviour, their goals, their alignment and the origin of their heritage.
That's not to say that an aasimar and a tiefling will try to kill one another upon first glance (though such is also very possible depending on the characters involved) but getting them to cooperate beyond absolute necessity will most likely be a frustrating experience for both of them due to the often opposite polarity between their alignments. It would definitely take a strong willed, cunning, highly manipulative or extremely charismatic third party to keep both cooperating for a prolonged period.
But, it is the player's perogative to enforce the "fluff" upon themselves. No player (keyword being "player") has the authority to say that your tiefling can't be an aasimar's best friend for example, but these things are noticed when you start making requests and participating in DM events.

I am of the same opinion of Galenson.
Normally an Aasimar and tiefling will likely have a negative first impression of the other. How it evolves beyond that is up to the players. I feel an Aasimar/ Tiefling would have a harder time making his counterpart trust him/her then a human would though.
Some comments to Ice's post: Fiends include both devils and demons so it's devil's (Baatezu) and demons (Tana'ri) that wage war. I'd also argue DD's, especially those at 10+ levels in the class, would feel much the same urges (If not stronger) as a tiefling/Aasimar when confronted by their 'racial enemies.'

Nnnnnngh. I meant to write Devil/demon. Blame the language, in me' lands we use the same words for everything. THOUGH, allow me to explain that little mention between parenthesis: In Amia, we have the wonderful custom that is allowing characters to function as disciples of their blood. Goody-two-shoes granny-helping aasimars sprout wings and backstabbing I-eat-your-babies fiends are rewarded by a tail (and etc). The same applies to dragonwroughts, or even fey-touched and any other sort of creature with magical blood along the way. I have no clue if that is cannon or not, but I love it. RDDs, while they are a standard class, classify as the above. They give into their blood, and they change for it. Mentally, physically and in our wonderful setting, spiritually too. It is my belief that they are ought to embrace all the aspects of their blood, if they are ought to progress beyond "a handful" of levels/rituals. In other words, I'd say that the racial hatred is not optional for anybody deep in the enhanced bloodline. After all, how would they succeed in the rituals in first place if they didn't share the mindset?MANDATORY QUOTE! DustSpray101 (In the RDD lore thread) wrote: Metallic kin will learn to hate Chromatic Kin and vise versa But this is a mess that is hardly related to the thread and should go elsewhere.

I'm presently unaware of anything short of full fiend / celestial reacting at eachother on "biological" level - and even then, it's debatable.
To my knowledge, this is purely Amian homebrew, which is not, thankfully, enforced by majority of DMs.

Personally, on Shade, my devil-blooded human; I try to keep him distanced from them. But with the limitation of me not being able to out right know someone's Aasimar or Demon-blooded with out being slated for meta'ing, it's something I tend to not trait with my character right off the bat.
Though he does have a tendency to explode at anyone, regardless of what or who you are. It's something I see as -completely- down to the player. But remember. Tieflings are normally/always considered scum. Aasimar typically considered some form of nobility. Even Shade a tiefling in himself sees most other tieflings as scum. But he's scum himself. So...
Point-being, it's your choice in this part. There's not to my knowledge, as stated, very much information on this at all. It's all a factor of "Does your character care for the blood war between the hells/abyss/celestials?" I can definitely say, personally, I wish the server was more racist in FR terms. Especially towards tieflings and other feindish/monster esq races.

I am fairly certain that both those subraces have descriptions on their appearance that if put on a bio (which should be common courtesy) makes someone able to tell them apart from an "ordinary" human. I feel the same about Genasi subraces.

Well of course. But there's always going to be those people that just make out their characters traits are near non-existant. Currently, Shades bio's in the making so it's not on the character right now, but it's hard to not notice the two horns on his head.

What I did with my Aasimar was that every once in a while, around a tiefling, she would suffer physical ills and feelings of uneasiness. However, she ended up falling in love and marrying a tiefling. Sooo..she's fairly used to the scent/feeling that he gives off. I never thought she was that close to her lineage from the beginning, though. I don't really care for the blood wars either. So really it depends on the players and where they want to take their stories with one another.

Some Tieflings have minimal fiendish traits- maybe just eye color, or a slight tint to their skin, or colored hair (which can be dyed another color to look normal). I assume it's the same for Aasimar, but I'm not sure. The point is that it may not always be obvious.

There is no concrete answer as to how your character may react, it's all up to you really. My tiefling has close ties to this infernal blood so generally he is somewhat uncomfortable around Aasimars, even if it's something he can't explain. Now tiefling blood vs tiefling blood, referring to devil and demon blooded. That I would just avoid, feels too much like metagaming.

Those charisma modifications do come from somewhere be it an odd appearance trait or an aura that unnerves others somewhat. Which is the reason I agree with Silk's assesment below and why any genasi/tiefling/aasimar without a bio whatsoever (or describing them as typical member of their race) makes me a sad panda (I feel you basicly assume someone can't tell you from a 'normal' member of your race - yes, you can emote about it too but no one I saw does that all of the time when meeting someone new so I feel that's better in addition to a bio stating it.) I feel the same about Genasi subraces. How you respond to someone of a certain bloodline is fully up to the player of the character imho.

I'd be beating a dead horse by repeating that it is up to a player how severe their character reacts to their, say, counterpart. You can be quite detailed with it as well.
Just today, Madrik rudely stared at a tiefling. Just stared, is all. On the other hand, he is friends with a tiefling, although their relationship can be complicated- they care about one another, but often disagree. Just depends!
And, I have seen interactions as severe as a tiefling and aasimar becoming physically ill by being too close to one another.
And yes, I've mused that there should be a basic template for bios when you create a character; just what a pair of eyes would see on the most basic level.

Up to the players involved. I personally roleplay it as a mixture of obviousness of respective traits (an aasimar with wings, say, will have a stronger bloodline than an aasimar with just fancy hair), habit, inevitable clashing of RP ideals, usually shooting a tell to players whose tiefling bloodline isn't obvious and asking if they wish to share the information/rp discordant blood et cetera. If the answer is no, no reaction is displayed.
Personal choice: sliding scale of unease/sickness/bleeding while close to aasimars, aggressive behaviour ranging from bitter irony to outright brawl when close to non-demonic tieflings.

I know i read somewhere that the two set one another off. Not so much outright kill but like.. That person just puts me in a bad mood. Damned if i can't remember where i read this, pretty sure i would not have made that up, as i'm guilty of preaching the bloodborne 'hate'. I have read a LOT of PDF's full of lore and i'm sure i picked it up somewhere..

I have another question, so I'm bumping this thread!
Are Aasimar or Fiendbloods(with wings) able to sustain flight for long periods of time? I have heard no, and that was what I believed for some time, but I've seen both being RP'd. Which one is "correct"?

A few factors come into play that may extend to the decree of the DMs. Personally, realism must be considered- wing width, height, strength and shape versus weight and height differential (a ratio to govern ease of flight for someone to is a natural bipedal) and CON. However, you can't govern this feasibly.
Should it pertain to HD and CON or STR or both? i.e. 1 round or minute per HD. Keep personal buffs in mind.
How I RP Madrik, the more he flies, the longer he can. This is why he took a ship on his visit home but will fly around the isle. Also consider wind behavior (direction, strength, temperature, etc). The warmer air rises would help sustained flight as well.
It is easier for Lyraesel because avariels' bones are hallow. This is why I RP that Madrik's are quite large (much bigger than the graphics model). But are aasimar bones hallow? Or become hallow? Perhaps partially?
Edit- Being able to cast Greater Restoration on oneself helps, eliminating fatigue.

Regarding hollow bones. Although their bone type doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere, common winged celestials don't have any vulnerabilities to crushing damage type, indicating that resilience of bones remains about the same. At the same type, two of more "common" flying celestials (Trumpet Archon, Astral Deva) both have "Good" maneuverability, implying natural flight.
Although this is pure speculation, I suppose that sponge-like structure (however feasible) is not an impossible solution for the above-mentioned celestials. As far as aasimars go, with such dramatic body alterations as growing a pair of new limbs, altered bone structure wouldn't seem too impressive or out of place.

only flying creature i Know to have actually mentioned to have hollow bones is birds and arranouch and avariels, I think its safe to assume that magic makes the celestials fly not hollow bones, *cough* not to mention lack of aerodynamics *cough*

Alaria- wrote: Are Aasimar or Fiendbloods(with wings) able to sustain flight for long periods of time? Can they? Certainly, but again depends on the character/player. If your character has only had their wings for a short time then they shouldn't be able to maintain flight for very long. Practice makes perfect afterall. A lot of it is just common sense after that, if you have a low strength modifyer and wearing full plate armor then you should be struggling to fly anywhere. Also you can take into account thermals keeping your character aloft for far longer without as much effort. Provided your character flies high enough. For my character Draco (a winged tiefling) I'd say that he could stay aloft for long periods. Because he has a few years of experience, he has a low strength modifyer but he also doesn't wear any armor. There's no set rules really.
