Is 'walking too fast' cause for identifying someone wild-shaped?
I got hunted down and killed and thrown in jail for moving too quickly as an ant. Thing is, the form can't actually walk slow.
[DM Snipped the screenie--BoB]
I have no idea how this works. But it seems funky.

Dunno, but since this is about a specific incident it should have been directed to a DM. Leaving it at just your question would have been enough.

Like I said, this is not the sort of thing to be talking about in public. You're not supposed to be bringing up IG events you have issues with; that should go to a DM.

ok. talking to dm now.
ruling was, speed is OOC, but emote that you're 'normal' or moving at normal for species speed or doing normal 'natural' things to make it easier for everyone.
thats how you get ants.

Or DMs could start watching to make sure people know how to use ant form like its not the roadrunner for RP spying before handing it out 1k faces.
As I clearly demonstrated you can in fact move slowly with ant form, the notion a ant should be able to follow around people at speeds faster then the people themselves is a tad silly, you cant claim your the same size as a ant and not able to be noticed yet move 50x faster then said ant.
So can we get a DM ruling on ant form and how it can be used can you half RP the form where you are IC a ant and get to claim none can ever notice you but don't have to move slowly like a ant would?

Alright, easy now. No talking about specific events, especially not with posting screenies. I edited out those links, because they never should have been posted. Cory, Cor'xak, if there are more questions or issues about this, please continue talking to the DM that is already involved. If ant shape is causing some grief about what is appropriate, we'll be looking at how to make it better.

But my question should be public as deals with the use of 1k faces and everyone who has it should be informed of the DM ruling as it would effect them and its use, hence why I'm requesting one from the staff in the General questions section.

Which is why your question wasn't edited out, only the screenshots were. It's a relevant question, and an important one since the ant shape is a free widget you get with 1k Faces. If it's broken, though, we need to decide what to do about it first, otherwise it's just coming down to my opinion right now.

Can a human still be from a 'race' without being that amian subrace type? Like can they still be a Mulan from Mulan but with generic NwN human race? I thought this might be a stupid question until I realized it wouldn't fly to claim to be drow w/o the subrace or just make a generic blonde elf and call yourself a sun elf. Or does it fly?

Yes, but you probably shouldn't. AFAIK DMs don't really police it but they might be annoyed by it. Since I dunno I guess it demonstrates a preference for mechanical power over RP.

I thought it was kosher, as long as you still make the human PC look like the proper race. It doesn't fly with things like Drow and whatnot because we have actual mechanics and strong IC opinions based on some races(racial gates, quests, dialogues, how certain NPCs would react to you) and that RPing an ECL race without the ECL or benefits gets tricky. I can't think of any sort of dialogue or racial gate stuff we have for the human subraces and most DMs I've heard speak on it never seemed too enthusiastic about the human subraces anyway.
Now taking a human subrace to represent something else needs a bit of caution. That's how you can get fair-skinned Chultans and Durpari, which is not good. But taking the base NWN human type and RP either one doesn't seem like that much of a foul. But it'll be good to hear DMs' opinions to be certain.

I do not believe this is anywhere near correct either. I have looked in stores. I have looked in auctions. I have leveled characters so many times and I literally do not have a single deity ring on any of them. I've gotten dozens of mythals, dozens of wands and scrolls and light gems and hundreds of loot items but not a single deity ring. Tons of the exact same loot item, but no deity rings. Is this just in one particular loot bin? Where are they all? Why does no one sell them? i feel like I used to see them a lot more a few years ago to the point where each character had at least a handful of them. Has something changed?

I find them with some regularity, but not from just any mob. I believe all the deity rings I've found have been from drops in epic areas e.g. fire giants, frozen wastes, etc.

Odd question but would a character who listens to others speaking a different language be able to pick out names? My characters name is not common and is a human name so a dwarf speaking it while talking in there native tongue would surely sound out the human name? In RL my name doesn't translate into other languages but even then if it does... it's still recognizable!
Is it likely you could pick out common names say, spoken in an elven discussion even if you don't speak elven?

My opinion here.... Sure you might recognize your name, but... was it really your name or was it a word that sounds like your name or part of a word that does? In other words, you wouldn't be absolutely sure, but you could suspect they are speaking about you.

I dunno, I mean, in foreign languages, a name is pronounced however the person introducing themselves pronounces it (excepting any accents the others may have).
I would assume your character hears their name, and then you decide what they think of it. Maybe they assumed it is a word in the other language; more than likely, in most cases, it wouldn't be hard to tell they said your name, though.

I'd probably make it dependant on the name. A rather complex name would probably easily be recognizable, something very short and simple on the other hand might not be. All in all, given that we in general (unless I'm mistaken) only have some general phrase for most FR languages, it's probably very much left to your own judgment.

People listening to others speaking in a language they don't understand always get paranoid that they're secretly being talked about anyway.

Alrighty... I need some help here. I made a hin monk, and so far (one day!), I'm enjoying it. I've never had a monk before, but I knew that the Order of the Hin Fist is in Luiren and they are Neutral or Good and worship Yondalla. Got that part covered.
What I would like though, is more information on the Order of the Hin Fist itself. If anyone knows of links, books, websites, etc that speak in detail about this, please, please share!
Thanks!

A cursory google search and a look through FRCS and Faiths and Pantheons, as well as Player's Guide to Faerun doesn't brign up much more than just the basics unfortunately :Just that they're predominantly halflings, based in Luiren, and focus oon self perfection.

Thanks Tormak, that's what I found too. That means I can perhaps come up with some lore? Send it to the team, see if it can become part of Amian culture? Just brainstorming here. No idea what I'd add at this point, if anything.
