I can't personally approve exceptions when people pay DCs for monkey grip specifically to look cool.

Can someone explain Greater Sanctuary, Haven, and the Greater Sanctuary BoT page? None of it makes any sense at all.

I would suggest making a request and to show that you are serious about not looking cool it would be like any quarterstaff that would get monkeygripped, it would be bonded. As part of this bonding process I'd say take a weapon property of no damage instead of just minus some damage like they usually get. This might be a better proof of not doing anything stupid with it. The RP being its so heavy because of your negative strength value that if you tried to swing it you would yourself topple or barely made a dent in jello. Then again, I'm not a DM and only trying to middle-man assist.

Vortex wrote: Can someone explain Greater Sanctuary, Haven, and the Greater Sanctuary BoT page? None of it makes any sense at all. I can try to explain, but I cannot test it all in game (yet). So I might have it wrong. There is the game effect "Greater Sanctuary". It's super super super invisibility. Nothing can detect or attack you if you are under that effect. (Traps and AoE spells still hurt you, though.) The Potion of Reality is a special counter to it on Amia. An AoE Mord's Disjuntion should work as well, I think. Now, the default NWN spell Greater Sanctuary gave this effect and lasted really long (turns/levels) and casters could just summon something powerful and stay 100% undetectable for the rest of the day in PvM, and still quite hard to detect in PvP. This was deemed lame. Note: All the new versions of the spells, and also the original GSanc, stop immediately when you do something directly hostile: Attack someone or cast an offensive spell. But summons are fine, because it's not you doing the hurting. Haven: It's the super-awesome perfect cleric one-click buffing protection: It gives this special Greater Sanctuary effect and good old Haste. It lasts exactly 5 rounds, Extend Spell doesn't change that. (Though it can be applied to shift it to a different spell slot.) This is perfect for buffing/healing/summoning when you get jumped. The new Greater Sanctuary: * What normal and BoT-versions have in common: Duration has been shortened a lot to 10 + CL/6 rounds. This can be extended. You get 100% spell failure. So unlike Haven, you cannot use this spell to buff. You cannot (and that's not the normal spell failure) use potions, scrolls or magic items either! But you can run fast. (The +90% movement doesn't really make you faster than Haste, I think, as the game usually caps at the 150% movement that Haste also makes possible, but if you are slowed down for some other reason, chances are good you will still be running at something close to Haste speed.) From what I understand, the intended usage of the spell is "Run away or heal with heal kits." * The non-BoT version: If you don't have summons out, or only "small" summons with caster level below 23, the spell gives you Greater Sanctuary. But if you have CL 23+ summons out, the spell gives you the easy-to-negate Invisibility efffect instead of the Greater Sanctuary effect. (The other stuff still applies.) So in epic areas, you cannot use this to stay safe and have your summons fight for you any more. * The BoT version: You still get that Greater Sanctuary effect ... but your (big) summons disappear when you cast the spell! This is the emergency run-away option, because at that point, you're likely giving up the fight. Hope that helps and is somewhat accurate. Ts

So, this is more a question about deities and domains. I have a concept in mind for a character, but the character worships Tamara and will use the Sun and Healing domains, which are both within her domains. However, while Bahamut, Tiamat, and Falazure are mechanically implemented, none of the rest of the draconic pantheon seems to be in. The wiki shows all of them, for Amia, though. I suppose I'm just curious why the other draconic deities weren't really implemented, mechanically? Also, I'd use a deity as a proxy for this, but there are no deities on our list that carry both Sun and Healing together. I suppose adding the draconic deities to the mechanics also wouldn't be as easy as it may seem, either?

If I only have 1 XP enough into a new level, and my character dies on Amia, would I lose that level? (Example I'm 1 point into 13, die, would I then be level 12?) Or does Amia use the default death table where you never lose enough XP to un-level yourself?

Though if you haven't taken the level yet (ie you have enough XP for level 13 but you didn't take the ding), you may loose the level. Always level!

Thank you! No one? Also... I am seeing more and more characters that seem to own ships... how does one do this? I've had it be appropriate for a few characters before, and just curious. I mean, cities have them sure, but I mean private individuals. How does one go about this?

You get a +4 off the scroll. I think. It's been a long time since I've cast it off a scroll.

I'm 99% sure they only allow mundane ie non-magic boats though, in an effort to prevent some insane wizard-naval arms race.

Few people genuinely built their ships and instead acquired them from various avenues, swearing themselvs to lieges,or murderhoboing pirates.

Thank you! No one? According to the toolset, only CL 5, 10 or 15 GMW are available on items. (So I don't think there's a version that gives +4.) Nwn wiki says CL15 on the Scribe Scroll table. At least for brew potion, the corresponding table has always been reliable (that is, not altered on Amia) when it came to CL. So I'd assume CL 15. Then again, a level 5 Wizard could find this out for sure or you could probably pay someone15k gold to have such a scroll made. (Sadly, my phone won't run NWN...) Regards Ts

Is the former Troglodyte quest given by the man in the Delta swamps still about in any capacity? Don't want to know where it might have been moved too if it has - but don't want to keep searching for something that may have been taken out entirely with the dungeon update!

Is it possible to craft items such as necklaces, pendants, bracers and so forth in Amia?

Pretty sure you can do necklaces and rings with goldsmithing. Not sure about bracers/bracelets though.

Bracers (ones you equip into the gauntlet section) can be made by armorsmith job.

does attack bonus on a melee weapon function any different than enhancement bonus if both are plus 5 i know they don't stack. If you are choosing is one better than the other?

Attack bonus is just that, it raises your attack on the weapon. Enhancement bonus raises both your attack and has bonus damage to it. So essentially enhancement bonus is better if you were only choosing one.

Also, it costs more in terms of mythal powers to have it on something. +5 Enhancement is 4 powers, which fills all the powers of most weapons; +5 AB is only one power so people usually do that and also +4 Enhancement (which is 1 power as well).
AB is enough to break though DR, also. So a sword with +5 AB on it will bypass 20/+5 DR.

I didn't want to post on someone else's story, so instead I thought I'd ask here... If our own website here talks about Feytouched: Quote: The fey are known for their curiosity (some would say obsession) with humanoids and giants, and sometimes a fey falls in love with one of these creatures. The creatures known as feytouched have a half-fey and a humanoid or a giant as ancestors.
Why does someone need a request to have a fey and ogre heritage feytouched? Are ogres that far removed from giants to be something that needs a request? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm genuinely curious, since our own website says fey parent and a humanoid or giant.

I would hazard a guess that it is because ogre fey touched are not a mechanically supported subrace in the mod therefore requires a request. The fey touched template in Amia uses elf as the base race by default. So you'd need a request to deviate from that by having a skin change or some such. But reading that post refered to I believe the question is more related to a half elf ogre, which is also not supported.

I believe they can only use wands and scrolls for divine magic, specifically. Though, if a player crafts a wand, those wands can be used by anyone.

Blue Moon wrote: I thought I'd know this but I could be wrong. Can paladins use wands and scrolls if they are divine, and the specific paladin spells that they can use? I.E death ward, freedom of movement? For wands and scrolls, the behaviour should be the regular (class) usage restrictions on it (and UMD helps). Now, what exactly those restrictions are can vary from item to item. For wands created by Craft Wand, this is what the wiki has to say: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Craft_wand wrote: A crafted wand is usable only by the discipline (arcane or divine) that crafted it. Wands created by divine casters are usable by clerics, druids, paladins, and rangers, while those created by arcane casters are usable by bards, sorcerers, and wizards. So whatever spell a cleric puts on a wand, a Paladin should be able to use. For Scribe Scroll it's not as easy. Each scroll has a specific set of classes that can use it (UMD applies as normal). Those classes don't depend on the class of the creator. To see who can actually use what, I'd first check the list at http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Scribe_scroll. In both cases, take care with domain spells and the extra spells added to the Cleric spell book on Amia ... I have the feeling that those could be wacky with regards to Crafting feats, so your safest bet is just to try it and look at the resulting class restrictions (and whether you actually can craft certain domain-spell wands, for example). Regards Ts

Would it be okay to say that, as a wizard, my small shield is actually magical notebook? The AC bonus would be removed. It's the one for bards, which has the description about its back being used for writing down preparations for song lyrics and spells: After giving the description another read, I should say this would never be used like a sequencer! Just for writing down notes in character.

That seems fine, imo.

Never quite got what L'obsul's stance towards surfacers was. Can they go down there to conduct shady trade deals, for example?

As a city, L'Obsul doesn't have much in the way of stances. They sort of like Nega-Cordor, in that profit is usually the bottom line, and they don't care overly much where it comes from. They also don't care overly much about you. Or anyone else. There are specific things they care about, and everything else just falls around that.
The shorter answer is yes, Surfacers can go there. Shady business deals are encouraged.
The NPCs don't have a universally shared opinion, and of course PCs will do whatever they want as always, but the city itself, and its officials aren't going to be killing Surfacers on sight or anything.

l'obsul needs to lose the race-gating elevator guys so ppl can actually use it. make it charge them more or something instead.
on another note, is there anyway a drow arcane archer and avoid having a level 1 dispel check? due to +2 int ant +2 cha, you'll always be at 10 in one of those stats so you will always be dispelled as a level 1 caster, where as non-drow can have an 8 or a 9 in one of those stats and since they can't cast cantrips will always be as a level 30 for dispelling.
is there anyway to do that on a drow aa or is that char concept just mechanically fucked forever?

Re AA: Have you considered actually taking more than 1 caster level? ... If you want the RP of drowsies, you could build a Half-Drow AA (assuming this is allowed like Half-Elf AA). Maybe even claim to be a (n-1/n)-Drow with the highest n you can get away with. Besides that, you make a compelling argument why it won't be possible with the stat adjustments. But I'd also be curious to hear about the dirty dirty tricks to make this work, if it's possible. Regards Ts

Ab would be crazy high ac would be as well and drow Sr helps with the rest. Movespeed would be slick as well. With a sicknasty ab and stuff like called shot to help kiting forever I think your only real problem would be dex monks but they do literally zero damage and have 40ish ab so you can just literally ignore them like you do on all characters. With the level one cl though potions word vanish the moment someone sneezed due to how amia handles caster level and that's really bad for pve and pvp. A fire giant witch would just always strip all potion buffs every single pull and then chain cast sov and sit in it refusing to move for ten rounds. It would be awful. I'm wondering if I could get a minus charisma item and put my cha at like 6-8 with it, if thst word work for my caster level problem. Or if it works on inherent.
