If I remember correctly.... Fear was changed in duration so it wasn't always a death sentence. I don't think anyone told the Sahuagin that. It lasts, a very, very long time.

They're using Terrifying Rage. It hasn't been changed.

Oh, I thought that was reduced in duration too... hmm... perhaps reducing duration might be something to be looked into? It means death to pretty much anyone as it is now.

Yeah. Terrifying rage is pretty much the strongest skill on the server atm. I think there's like a soft community agreement to not use it.

The Sahuagin didn't get that memo.

Very simply, it's a saveless death if you're not a Pally or have a Mindblank on. At least if a player uses it. Don't know about the DC for Sahuagin. Best chance thete is to simply have a Mindblank used at all times. Based off that, I'm not sure if I really would bother changing it. One of the first things I'd do is chuck a MB, in PvP or PvE. Although, balancing it to a, well, balanced state might not be terrible either. I mean, will save versus skill? Good luck getting 100+ Will. Or hope for a 20. And then in PvE there are more than one, and in PvP the Barb just runs around wildly, getting you to cross the fear line more than once, making you need more than one 20 to survive...

I almost want to make a sneaky Barb Assassin (not neccessesarily the Class, but just a Killer for Hire), who jumps out of the shadows, screaming, scaring you instantly, before you even manage to chug that MB. And then I think about how people probably would hate me for that, lol.

I would like to see us LESS Mindblank needy, instead of more. Certainly, a Mindblank eliminates the risk. The DC isn't that high, not like a player using it. I don't recall, but I believe it's 15ish. Easily made by most, but those 1's. Again though, I don't like the idea that "Everything is cancelled by.. Mindblank". This is the first server I've ever played on that was so dependent on them.

oh vs a player they can toss a disjoin scroll at you, the fear re-applies every time you enter and leave the aura, so just rage, disjoin, walk at them until they fail the save which is vs your skill iirc, so get like 60 intimidate and you're set.

but yeah.

it's every time you enter the aura so if the mob/player paths funny you have to make multiple saves a round.

also I totally agree. mindblank pot necessity is a scourge.

The wraiths in the crypts in the frozen wastes uses a fear pulse that usually sidelines at least one of our team for a disgustingly long time as well. From the RP perspective, despite how annoyingly long this lasts, dying because you foolishly decided to go at it alone is a very realistic consequence. In a group, watching someone shit themselves in fear for five minutes is also pretty fun. Especially if they are a tough guy and RPing this takes some of the sting out of duration. There are some folks who seem to have such a large chip on they're shoulder they refuse to RP it though simply stating "Of course I would roll a 1".

Point being... 5 minutes is just overkill. Generally, if you're going to die from it, 30 seconds is plenty. If you are that "big tough guy", I don't see how being scared for 5 mins makes sense. From a balance perspective, that's a really really long duration.
