Repose at 27 offers you a super cool summon. Though, I think leveling with the Repose Domain is 10x easier. They're stronger than a typical low-level summon. So it's all about taste at that point.
Premo's largely not necessary and Mindblank comes via pots and prot-evil (though mindblank is definitely the High Power Option) but the repose domain is ridiculously powerful.
That said: fate is hella style points. I'd pick Fate because I'm a Johnny.

I was going to go protection and [insert x]. I'll say, the rune domain looked cool, and fate was half spells, half [James Spader's stopwatch bit from 2 Days in the Valley dosed with a healthy heaping of Twoface's coin], so style.
Why does the Salandrian temple treat evil people? They took measures to make sure evil people can't go there (you can't use the leyline node if you are evil) so why do they treat evil people at all?
Additionally, how does a leyline node know or even care if you're evil?
Actually I like it, this way I can strong-arm people into revealing if they are evil or not by IC ordering them to bind to the hospitals leyline.
When we last discussed Leylines we learned Leyline race restrictions were IC, so I assume alignment ones are as well. Find out if someone is evil and should be killed in about 2 seconds.
You were explained how the Leyline node restrictions worked. I know because I told you at least once via the forums.
The racial bans are enforced by the guards around the node. IE Winya's guards prevent non-elves from binding (non-elves can't even get to it, but you get the idea). It's not the leyline that prevents you. They don't care. And I (and I believe others) told you this. Alignment binds are meta, imo. There's no way a guard should just 'know' your alignment and prevent you from binding. Sure, you could be 'known evil' but what about unknown evil people?
As for the Salandrans, they allow you on their lands if you do not cause trouble, which makes for interesting RP. And why wouldn't they? They are devoted to healing anyone (reasonably speaking) who needs aid.

It's a part of their Dogma to treat all, IIRC. As for the Ley node binding stuff.. that one I'm not so sure on in truth.

Can't use the leyline. What kind of RP do you suggest here? Getting a wizard to 'fix' the flower patch?

The RP that'd work towards that has some IC precedents that could make for wearying possibilities but I can see where you're coming from.. in theory the Salandran's node should not have an alignment restriction.
If the DMs can provide a good reason , I'd be curious to hear it.

A bit broader concerns than that actually, but yes that does come to mind.
If the restriction wasn't so much from the node itself refusing to bind as the guards or attendants doing what they could to stop anyone who DID try to bind who was blatantly evil, that does have a measure of sense Although it should also be a matter the carefully thought villain could get around.
Are Grappling Hooks still DM-delivered only at the moment?
If so, could I seduce a DM into popping on and maybe filling the inventory of one of the NPC merchants in Kampo's with a bunch of them so people who haven't had the opportunity to pick one up yet could get one? Or maybe "sell" a bunch to one of the active PC merchants to distribute with their normal wares? Amia Prime shipping!

I don't think you can get them due to how many areas sort of break when you get to places you normally shouldn't.
Grappling hooks can only be put on your current z-level so you can only get back to where you left. you can only climb up where you first climbed down, you can't just go straight up.

So why is the Salandran bind non-evil only?
Oh I totally agree that that is dumb (like I said originally, alignment ley restrictions are meta and make no sense). I didn't even know it was a thing until Commie mentioned it.

Do you actually 'need' to take/pass the NPC shadowdancer classes to get the SJ widget?
I was told by the then-player of the Academy head PC if you didn't have all three widgets you could not take the class or get the widget. However I have since been told that was wrong? And you can get the feat w/o ever setting foot in the school as long as some one trains you.
Which way is it? Do you need to pass the 'exams' or not?
Also, in the academy, a good portion of the school is locked, a former faction area. Can we unlock it? There's no 'faction' players there anymore and haven't been for a while.
You do not need to pass the exams/have the tokens to learn SJ, as an OOC requirement. That's an IC restriction related mainly to the use of The Three Steps Academy services (such as being taught SJ) and shops.
But you do not need the tokens to be taught by a freelancer. Being taught by/learning from/showing you understand the rules in the lesson(s) by a qualified PC is the only actual OOC requirement.
I happen to have a master SD, if you're having trouble finding someone.

oh, i stopped a lesson i was giving when my student didn't have it. when i did the lessons at the school, i was told it was an ooc requirement to learn.
Yeah, you just need to learn / be taught properly in respect to server rules and hit the all the key points. Everything else is an individual, IC stipulation.
The job system, how does it work and do I need to have one to be able to say "Im a blacksmith from back home" for example? I looked around the job tab but Im not sure I was looking at the right place. Like poultry farmer and orchard that I picked on one character. What do I do? What can my character say? "Im a farmer and can run an orchard" or something?

You don't necessarily need Job System ranks to say you are something IC. The Job system is there to enrich RP and give you an IC way to represent some of those claims if you want. It looks good in a request if you're ever basing the RP off of your PC's knowledge of a profession and they have Job ranks to back it up. But no, you can claim to have been a blacksmith by RP alone. That's just the PC's background story at that point. But if you ever want to claim or gain something in a request based on that RP, job ranks and skill ranks help you out a lot.
Blacksmith is sort of split into two jobs in the Amian system, Armoursmith and Weaponsmith. If you can find a forge or anvil IC, there's usually a high chance of one of those job npcs being around.

Are there any advantages/disadvantage of one job over another? I had thought of Witchhunter for one character, but I had heard that it can take you into some really dangerous areas if you are lower level. Do the smith jobs produce something usable and/or saleable?
Smith jobs you can make money in 2 ways (do note you need money to start with):
Have 3 ranks in 1 smith job, buy metals bars from the merchant or other players and craft them into weapons/armour and sell them to the weapon/armour merchant. Does not mater what weapon you make they al give the same base value, the price depends on the quality (AKA how well you rolled). why 3 ranks are needed? Well with fewer ranks the chance of success lowers, so you will lose a lot of money on bars going up in the air.
Have any rank + skill in a smith job, Get bars, and do special orders for pc's for special requests or certain quality/material needs (rp needs). At the moment with the current server population and Djin, this is not the most viable way to earn money though, but DMs always favour this as far as i know as it means player interaction, and rp.
Also not to be overlooked, crafted weapons and armour can be inscribed at a scribe desk, this is also a good reason for people to get them.
Edit: on lower level, you still have the issue you need money to make money.. but you can craft nice weapons with a +1 (like master-work) or specific +'s / abilities (like weight reducing)

The job system does nothing substantial but offers lots of cool flavor to enhance role playing and is also fodder for requests. The most useful things it does are allow you to craft some end game gear at 60% or 80% item weight reduction depending on your rank and how well you roll; just like Frozen Ass said.
Another cool thing you can do with weapon crafting and scribing is you can make a weapon with an appearance you want and give it a cool description and then via your crafting skill you can give whatever item you intend to use the template item's appearance, name, and description in place of the original. This destroys one of the items used so it's advised you find out which item is recieving which properties and use them correctly so you don't destroy your +5 ab/+4ench/keen/1d8 massive crits scimitar instead of the proprietress item with a description.
While it can be difficult to work with, the craft and job system features on amia can be fun to mess with when you have the patience. Now that they don't really give substantial xp anymore (though apple farming was never really good xp before and only served as a way for people who aren't as good at the game to level) it really only offers very minor gains in terms of in game advancement. Gold isn't really that great considering the time sink put into it but sometimes players have DM plots and personal projects that require things like 10000 bars of iron and the like, or 5000 bars of mithirl and they pay substantial amounts of money or, on occasion, epic loot for them.
Just don't fall into the trap of thinking your job ranks are necessary for plot progression unless a DM absolutely tells you so. Feeling like you need a PC engineer for a building project for a faction when you can just try and hire out NPCs seems a lot more reasonable to ask of static people with static lives as opposed to dynamic player characters with hectic, violent, and dangerous lives of excitement.
We fell pretty deep into that trap in tarkuul once upon a time.

But thanks for the info folks!

Barricade of Swords Got this feat at level 14 and noticed it doesn't do any damage to the critters I'm fighting at present. In Ne'sek and Electric Castle mostly. I do see a string of orange zeros above the heads of opponents at various times, which I assume signifies it's been blocked by some minor form of DR. Edit: I guess my question is if this is intentional?
Personally I'd rather it worked even if you have to halve the damage (or more) for balance purposes. The current version just delivers false hope.

I need to pick a weapon focus for a cleric with rogue levels (from among simple and rogue weapons, no room for a martial weapon proficiency). I won't have Improved Critical either.
I have no idea if it matters too much, as I have yet to get a character above 20, I'm hoping this one will be the one. (I'm a serial character builder)
While I am thinking of it, there seems to be a bug where Hilrash's inventory becomes mostly invisible. Anyone else encounter this (I know that Peek-a-boo did tonight)? Is there a fix?

I believe merchant inventories reset from time to time. Or do you mean you could still highlight the item, but there was no image of it?

Thanks!
Hil'rash has a script that periodically eats his inventory. This is because a large merchant inventory bogs down server performance and Hil'rash is very popular.

Spamming infinity metamagicks on the Druid elemental forms is an exploit. This isn't a generla question, this is a statement of a bug that has been occaisonally abused since I came back in 2015 and have asked to have fixed for about as long. The fact that it's not fixed for 2 years doesn't make it not an exploit.

Can be helped: don't quickslot and use the infinity maximized version of the spell when you polymorph, use the one that is the not infinity maximized version.
"Don't cheat". Pretty easy.
