Hi, I just logged off from B-mia because I was boring myself to death. I play a lvl 9 half-orc fighter and there is simply nothing to do in that level range. There is never really anyone on the server who is in the same level and you can't solo since all the critters in the starter area only give 1 xp. The few critters who give 5 xp is very rare and I donøt find it that funny to keep running through the marsh.
If I go to any of the other islands the critters are too strong to handle solo. If I go to the desert the critters are too strong again. Can we please get another area with critters that is more fun to do solo if your from 8-10 level?

I agree.
B could use areas for more levels to make it more attractive and get that 'critical mass' going that makes it an interactive server rather than a specialty or single player server.

The thing with the trolls is that if your lucky you can kill one spawn and live to tell the tale. You simply need to have a party to venture further. And with a player base of 10-18 of who most are high levels that rarely happens

I solo'd many of the things in Frozenfar, as a non-hiding rogue, dex based, with mediocre gear. Granted I have umd, and so, Flame Wep. scrolls, but that's really it.
Also keep in mind that the server is not specifically designed to be soloable. Everything is based around being in a party, even if it's a small one. Personally, I specifically request for bosses in the areas I design, to be not solo-able where possible.
Dunno what to say. I'll grant the difficulty jump from the Caraigh critters to the trolls is pretty big...but you are level 9, so that shouldn't be the biggest hinderance. Maybe it's a matter of gear? Get some DR, and things go infinitely smoother. DR is godly. And heal kits. Not potions. Attacks of opportunity from drinking a potion, are not your friend. No AoO's from heal kits.
Otherwise....well, I've got an area in progress right now that would, if accepted, have 2 zones for somewhere around cr 8-11ish. But it's not done yet, and there is no guarantee it'll even get accepted by disco.
**edit: also keep in mind that B is still fairly new and somewhat under development, though Frozenfar was a fairly big addition for cr ranges.

Problem is that this opportunity rarely arises since the number of players on B-mia is always very low compared to A-mia. The players on B-mia tend to be
a) people waiting to get a spot on the A server
b) high level chars that 8-11 can't party up with
c) new chars who is stuck in town because there is no starter quest and the goblins are too dangerous to fight alone.

The DM team may want to think about releasing a level guide to the areas in Amia B for awhile, or perhaps easing up the death toll as players start to figure out just where they can handle.
Speaking for just myself at the moment, I'm always nervous about doing anything on Amia B simply because I never know when I'm gonna wander into a zone that will wipe the floor with me and cost me a load of experience points. I know I'd be more willing to explore all the new content if I wasn't so worried about my precious XP.

So... group up?
Tormak, what he is saying is that there isn't enough people of the same level range as him on B-mia. Usually they are to low, or to high. Which limits choice in terms people to group with.
RP is always possiable, but a Trend I personally have noticed is that if you have a list of 10 people, 6 of those are mostly an epic party running brog or some place. The rest are epics, rping with each other, and not interested in rping with you, or newbies running around trying to survive without the extra level they get on A-mia.
The playerbase on B-mia isn't large, ever, and this is intensified, by the fact that there is very rarely a DM on B-mia. I'd hazard a guess that if there was a DM on B-Mia and a DM on A-mia when two are avaliable, the number of people on A-mia would split.

Except that the mechanical difference is enough to cause a problem. If you treat A-mia and B-mia exactly the same, you get back to the original problem we had before the split. There are to many players, not enough slots. Because Amia doesn't have 130 slots, it only has 65 if we ignore the mechnical bits.
Also, the Mechanical difference is enough to effect an IG experience, if someone is playing and can't access A-mia because of the mechnical difference being to many players on the A-mia side, then it effects whom they can rp with, where they can go, there over all experience IG with parties and hunting. It effects everything. You can't not treat them like two different server, because the mechnical difference is enough to be noticable.
They even have two different reset times.

Disco had said he would look into moving the UD to B. This would be a huge step in the right direction everyone seemed to think, and we should push for it. And I think any other tweaking could come afterwards.
It would allow Drow who want to RP Drow events to all be able to get on at the same time easily, plus free up spots on A.
Its a lot of work, obviously, but he is looking into it. Or it's at least on the list.

Uh....there is a starter quest in B. Wiltun Cellars.
And as has been said, the server is still "under development", so more is frequently being added. Oh, the immense joy of having more room to work with, thanks to the split! Really is a designer's dream.

If this happened, I'd start playing my Lolthite Sorc again.

Ugh, no, it's attitudes like that that contribute to the overall "experience".
It is nt "A-mia" and "B-mia", you play on Amia and your server has 130 slots. What happens onB affects A and vice verse. You play on one big world.
Adding the Underdark will nly exacerbate this problem but it's a foregone conclusion at this point. All I have left is my "I Told You So's" that I said the entire split discussion.

I actually agree with tormy to a degree. the world is all one world, while it is true that sever B is new and could stuff is still being added it is still part of the world. I am in support of the UD moving over, mainly for the fact I believe more sever slots would be open so thus more people can play.
Tormak, I feel like you arent giving the rest of the population enough credit. You are the champion of "a vocal minority on the forums isnt the server majority".
The lion's share of the population understands that there is only "amia".
What people want, people who understand the one amia, is for there not to be a waiting line for people who want to play, while B is 1/3 to 1/2 full. If we could combine it all onto one 130 person server, that would be amazing. But since it isnt feasible, why not try and move some things, so that we are using all this wonderful server space we have on B?
If you dont like the UD idea, say why.
I just want there to actually be 130 people on Amia, Its not about the UD specifically. How wonderful would it be to see them both at 60+ players most of the time? We arent trying to make "B as good as A", as if they were different. We just want to allow more people to enjoy Amia!

I think the reason that Server 1 is shied away from for the most part is that a lot of the stuff is new and strange, and it frightens and confuses our unfrozen caveman lawyers. Server A gets way more traffic because it's more familiar and it's what people know and love. They know it and make connections with it. We just need to give it time for people to get used to all the crazy areas for Server 1, and it will be just as loved.
And yes, I vote that we make them Server A and Server 1.

A top Drow complaint is that they feel segregated from the playerbase, unable to interact with the players (and DMs) up top. They feel ignored, as players, by the other players and DMS that aren't their own little circles.
And then you want to shove them to be... and viewing the opinions and attitudes in this topic, it would be disastrous. In my opinion, anyways. That said, it's a logical move purle yon the logistical side of things and will free up server space, but I'm not sure how happy people will be with it in the end...
There's a few other conclusions I often draw about B, but they aren't polite enough to discuss in a server without being obviously biased.

This is what I was trying to say. I guess the way I said it didn't get taken the way I meant it.

They could come up to the surface for raiding parties.
Act like how underdark drow should.
I'm sure alot of players would be willing to interact with them :)

"Real" Underdark drow stay in the Underdark like 99% of the time. Raiding problems aren't really a common thing, whatsoever. If they raided enough to become a real problem, they'd be wiped out in an instant.
also raiding parties tend to fail on amia, quite alot. most attacks on bigger settlements do. I tend to like raiding smaller things as caravans, pilgrims on a journey and other sort of smaller based things. Attacking bigger things like say cities as people often mention, often fails.

The ECL +2 and Lolthite alignments puts UD drow at the disadvantage to the higher HD, more feated and skilldumped surface character cousins. You knew the risks though when you signed up, it's the penalty you have to pay for the style of RP.
I am not sure if this was ever discussed with dms but as an idea why not move the whole shadowplane over to amia b since it is on a different plane does not directly affect the island of amia as the underdark is in theory directly below amia (island)

Isn't that one of the points of cities, that they generally can't be attacked directly (with any hope of success) by anything smaller than an army?

If that's supposed to be how life as a drow is, then there's no cause for complaint. Surely they don't expect surfacers to walk into Ultrinnan to socialise

I found the starter quest too hard compared to speedy's messenger service in Cordor. And my 9 lvl fighter can't even get in. There just isn't enough low lvl chars around to party up with.
And as a matter of fact I like that there is two servers, but I hate that the B one is ignored by most players. B-mia has a lot of good areas but we need something like the lizards in the swamps on the A server.
_________________ I'd rather die standing than live on my knees
It's not ignored by a lot of players, according to the logs. But Cordor tends to gather a majority of the players still. As a new area on B that gathers players, we got Bendir Dale. Right now as I'm posting this, there's more people in Bendir Dale than anywhere else on the server(s).
But I already see people RPing regularly in Djedet, for example. Wiltun has been a major hub from the beginning, but the exact amount of people depends on the time of the day.
What ups the player count, according to player statistics in areas, isn't hunting areas, but RP hubs. And creating those isn't done by adding more content to other areas, but focusing RP on the said areas. I seriously doubt adding yet more RP hubs helps at this point, because it means people will be even more split up on the servers.
That said, the development of B is still majorly underway, but I kindly ask to give us the time to build it up. There's more stuff coming, but asking for yet more stuff all the time isn't making the building progress any faster.
B's good at high levels. There's no way a newbie is going to know to go to the frozen far to fight trolls or whatever and the castle basement isn't exactly the most easily found place in the game.
As for the Cordor / Bendir Dale thing, the Dale is uniquely different to Cordor in that it isn't full of idiots. The idiots don't make it that far north.

The removal of challenge ratings really hurts B, I tried hunting with a new char there, but after unknowingly running into stuff that one hit killed me repeatedly, I gave up.
With the old areas on A, we already know what area can be taken on by what level group without running into trouble.
So far all my characters fit into the character of not knowing theres more to amia then the one island. I could bring back shada to help people on the other parts of the world, but people would yell at me about it.
And one more thing. A newbie on Amia dont know what they can handle no matter what part of the world htere ship docks at.
Yes, playing on B is a bit like being a newbie to Amia in general. I guess people not fancying that aspect tells more about the players themselves (or ourselves, however you prefer after reading further on) than the areas on B.
I've done my lowbie run on B, btw. I didn't find it hard at all, but I admittedly explored some areas with a middle-level toon before taking out the lowbie.

Could also be the character build.
What Phearnun said is true, though.
I have a Wood Elf Ranger 6/Fighter 1 (which I rarely play) and with some strategy she managed to solo the trolls. On the other hand, when I went there with a party, things got... tough, somehow.
EDIT: I remember why it was tough. Not so much for me, but for them. They were all level 3 and 4. ^^;

Well Nekhy, try that when it's your first day on the server. You've no idea what enemies you can manage, no idea how to get to them, you're just plonked in a near empty fort and left struggling to figure it out for yourself.
That is not good server design. When you have no idea where to go, it's the developer's fault for making it too open ended without enough clues and hints in, not the player's fault for being lost. To be honest, I don't know when running around in circles became a popular design idea, but I want the fad to be over.

I thoroughly agree with this - The underdark /is/ segregated from the surface, for all that it's physically proximate; Drow /are/ segregated from surfacers, and are rarely seen aboveground.
A drow who complains of feeling 'separated' from the surfacers is, to me at least, a very, very strange drow; it's like a kobold complaining that she doesn't get to spend enough time in the company of gnomes.
Now, complaining that she doesn't get to spend enough time in the /blood/ of gnomes.....

I believe that is happening is it not?
The one thing you must be careful about though is the number of goodly cities to evilly cities raito. If it ends up only Tarkuul for evil cities on A-mia. Things could get awkard.
But I'm into this. Simply because I would love to see the shadowscape expanded, bring back the awesome waterfall area and the massive bit outside the gates. Except include more areas and place shadow based enemies in the area. Or enemies with Shadow Armour permently cast, maybe with ghostly visage and stuff.
Just think it could be quite cool. Shadowscape has some awesome potential that was unable to be tapped back with only one server.
