I seem to remember reading some place that the Dwarves as a race can not get drunk of alcohol as humans and the other races do, in fact the are more or less immune to its effects. They only drink ale (And maybe some other alcoholic beverage) For the sole reason they love the taste.

True or False :?:

From what I know, it's just harder to get a dwarf drunk.

You also won't get drunk if you're immune to poision.

Because alcohole = poison.

Which is why the subject gets drunk, the subjects body is protecting itself against the poision/alcohole.

That's why you wear a Purple Dragon Ring in a drinking competition.
Or in negotiations.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. What kind of bloody idiot thinks alchohol is a poison? It's plainly beneficial.

Dwarves aren't immune to alcohol. They're just very resistant to it! And no, alcohol is not a poison!

You mean in the same way arsenic is a useful medicine for improving one's complexion?

Or be a Duergar. Which is yet another reason why Duergar are far superior to Dwarfs

The beverage has to be at least 45% pure alcohol. Even the dwarf immunities cant do anything to that. (im sure i read this somewhere...probably false information, but meh.)

Making Patè from a dwarf's liver would make alot of money for the owner of the business.

So are cow urine, belladonna, and chemotherapy. Just because something is a medicine doesn't mean that it can't also be a poison or toxic.

It's a WoW picture, that explains why it is full of fail and beardless women.

Addendum: 4e retconned bearded Dwarf women. WotC felt they needed to make Dwarf women "sexier". Look at some of the female dwarf 4e art for examples.

EDIT:

What the hell? Why does she have six fingers?

Probably because of the perspective of the fellow being that of a drunkard, he's seeing one finger in excess?

Actually it does, you're just in denial.

I find the thought of a character being immune to getting drunk stupid because:

"Hey everyone, I can drink 8 litres of vodka mixed with 2 litres of bourbon and I won't get drunk!! Unfortunately my kidneys will fail and I will die an extremely slow and excruiciating death. I wish I could just get drunk and live longer."

Edit: Dri beat me to the post!

Doesn't getting drunk mean that your liver/kidneys fail to process all the alcohol? (Im not sure, and im too lazy to check. please correct me if i'm wrong) If so, wouldn't that mean that the kidneys/liver of a dwarf are a lot stronger and better than a humans, meaning that they can process enormous amounts of alcohol? Im not sure what im writing right now, 'cause im gonna fall asleep. NOW!

Cant remember which organ does what >_>

Liver mainly handles poisons etc. Kidneys take care of the usual crap that's stuck on red cells in and other stuff that goes in your blood veins.

I could try to explain it, but I'd say they get drunk, their unusually high CON scores are supposed to support the fact that they are highly resistant to poison, alcohol, damage, etc.

Atleast we are in agreement that in all but the most bizzare case a dwarf can drink a hell of alot more than other races?

It's true, actually. Elves can handle a ridiculous amount of alcohol, and they never get hangovers, either.

I didn't think that elves could handle anywhere near as much due to their physical frailties.

Common misconception! Elven bodies don't process alcohol the same way, or something, so they can down huge amounts without any effect at all, and they never experience ill effects. It's the reason they're the only race that can safely ingest Fey Wine.

Can I ask where you got that? I've only scanned my books but I can't find anything about elven alcohol consumption.
