Okay, so I'm not going to mention names, or specfic details of situations. But had a few times I've tried to go some place for XP, really needed only a bit to level, can't go any other place by myself to get the XP, found that most of the time I go to certain places, there is some git running it for loot who won't leave.

I know this discussion has happened in the past before. But whats peoples opinions on this "hunting for loot" thing? I can't say I've ever gone hunting for loot with no chance of XP. More to the point, if they are doing it with RP in mind, what are the rules then? Nobodies getting XP, they are getting loot, but they are RPing, yet you could get XP.

Clearly my own opinion is that you shouldn't do it. Though when it's claimed to be for RP, I'm not to sure what to think. I want the XP, but I guess they have a right to RP. Though it still seem's some what unfair.

What's peoples opinion on this matter? I know some people are fine with it, others are not, but why and what's your reason for your opinion?

If you are just there for the loot & are a maxed out toon you should make way for others. That's my take on it at least.

If they won't leave after finishing the areas, it sounds like they are farming. It's OK to run an area through several times IF there's nobody else wanting to use it, but if there is someone else who'd like to use the area, you need to hand it over once done. Common courtesy and all that jazz.

Other than that, I see no reason why one shouldn't be allowed to hunt just for loot or just for XP. I don't fully understand the question though. Might be because I only just woke up... :D

Though if someone is rping the hunt, is it fair to ask them to leave when they are rping, which is highly encouraged and the point of the server?

You mean people setting off the spawns as they sprint past to get to the boss loots effectively denying you the xp?

I would think the normal hunting rules would apply to that. If they were there first, tough luck. If you were there first and they run past you, that's another matter.

If they didn't finish the area, it's not very fair to ask them to leave. That's the bottom line: you can finish the area and then another one can take it over.

Asking for others opinions on the matter is all, hoping to clear up my own opinion on the rp thing. I guess that makes sense, though in some way, it seem's like a bit more courtsey should be given to the lower leveled character. But if they are rping the hunt, they should be encouraged and left to continue, it's a confusing thing.

True, very true. Though the argument could be made that you don't know if it's there first run, second run, or even there third of forth run through. They simply could be saying it's there first time everytime they see someone.

Not to mention if someone is rping there loot run. The hunt could take a long time. Which means you could be stuck waiting for a bit.

And no, wasn't talking about the boss thing. Your right, normal hunting rules do seem to apply. Though the scenrio I presented above to nekh is worrying.

Yes, they could be on their second or third or fourth run. Not a lot that can be done about it, not even by the DMs, except to have good faith in the courtesy of the other players, as well. There's no way to tell how many times you've killed a regular mob, except to witness it happen.

Righto then. Helped me clear up my opinion on things. Thanks.

Could you lock this then to prevent it getting spammed?

I sometimes run Mylocks/FoD for loot. Whenever I see a group of people there for XP, I leave and try elsewhere. Just common sense and politeness I guess.

The Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation Partners are level 30s, at lot of us, and we often hunt purely to bring good quality merchandise to the market place.

I consider it impolite to circle a hunting ground if there's anyone in 'que', but I'll be damned before I consider our RP and/or Loot Hunting as less 'worthy' than XP Grinding.
