I know! I just returned here to edit my embarassing post, but I was too late!
Of course, I could just delete this whole exchange..

I could just ban you all, delete this whole topic and call Yoss a filthy liar. But then again, letting people see that even I am not infallible does give me a certain streak of lovable weakness that people can better relate to.
To be on-topic, well.. uh, I have nothing to say! The man's a gift to the world.

I could go into the databse, restore backups, undo bannings, and give every, even guests, explicit permissions to see this topic so that everyone would know, and remove your editing and deleting permissions.

Yossarin, fun stuff. I totally want someone to use this awesomeness to make fake announcements about/from other factions. Totally. But don't go down the realm of stupid. Make them classy, degrading slanders.
Or..

Actually, I think that's a reasonable point - can there be discounts for larger purchases?

Well, that position is filled, but I'll be thinking of some others for sure.

I kinda want to see the Winyan elves do an advertisement, but I just realized they probably won't because it is a human thing. Oh well! We can make advertisement for them.

1) How many characters per 'paragraph' and how many 'paragraphs' per message? I assume that multi-paragraph messages will be delivered in quick succession? By paragraph, I mean the maximum amount of text that can be spoken at one time.
2) How often is the message repeated?
3) Where is the message spoken? All cities? Is there some specificity to that? It would be strange to have a Lolthite message in Kohlingen or an Eilistraeean one in Ultrinaan. In what cities can one potentially have the message read (ie. a list, please)? Are there more than one crier in some cities (eg. Cordor)?
I have a message in mind and I'd like to know more about any restrictions in case I need to fine-tune it. Also dont need it delivered in Ultrinaan, Underport, Barak Runedar, Forstakkr, etc. etc.

Type as many characters into your Talk field as you can. When it cuts them off, count how many it shows. That's the max characters. And only one "paragraph" or block. Hence why it must be concise.

Depends upon how many people walk by the criers. That's the trigger. The more "ad space" is taken up, the less often it will be repeated, so get in on the ground floor. There is some possibility there might be an opportunity to pay for more repetition, but that is currently not tech-possible.

Currently, Cordor: East and Cordor: Central. If it becomes more popular, you might see town criers from the Amian Recorder showing up elsewhere. Disco also has a mind to maybe add "town crier" as a role to the upcoming job system, where a PC can "access" the database of paid advertisements and spout them at random as though the PC were an NPC town crier.

I do not how I managed to overlook this but... damn you! We, the sunni racist yact club feels deeply disrespected we are after all the pinacle of elven civilization:p
On a more atempted serious note, yeah you're right. My elf barely evers go to Cordor so wouldn't even consider using it. Though it is really a neat feature:)

Winya doesn't IMO need something like this, unless it is of drastic importance. It isn't a large community such as cordor and thus most things we disscuss both IG and on the forums quite easily.
I do think this is a neat idea, though I do wonder couldn't a player just make a notice on the PC notice forum and that be that without paying? but this is a neat concept and I like the idea of it.

I don't think Mike or Cindy want to flog themselves, but they will say something for the Eternal Order! Although Cordor may have a slight issue right now with the EO, the Amian Recorder is not bound by Cordorian exclusive law or opinion, and caters to the island's entire populace. They'd be happy to carry your ad right into the heart of Cordor!
And it is Monday for me, so I'm taking ads and uploading all day. PM box is open. I've already put in a few so far, and the town criers are happy that they got to learn how to try to talk like a dwarf for one of them!
Pity, we would have provided them the whip. Though, I cant say I can see how the Eternal Order would promote their zeal over two paper selling kids. Neither do we raise promotion advertisement as thats something for the "unelite forces". We should be mentioned for free by them by making actual news, like for blockading Cordor
You did, actually! But now that you've withdrawn, that was taken out.
That's a bit more module intensive and requires Disco to constantly update to keep track. The town crier messages are rather simple, because all I have to do is go into the database and edit them and it goes right in.

Do they have any problem saying anything (that isn't too lewd or graphic)?
Such as praises to Talona, or glorifying necromancy? Can we get them to gloat about criminal escapades?
Or do we need to sort this out IC with them?
