We should have nobility. I wonder who's gonna get the honour of being the Baron of Uhm. "The Unambitious" will probably be his/her title, hehe.

Funny you should mention that...

Lord Mordred 'The Unabitious' von Schmuckenstein, Baron of Uhm.

Sounds spiffy?

Yus. All that's left is to terrorize the townsfolk into giving the title up...

This whole knight thing has also bothered me as long as i have played nwn, spesificly the plate mail stuff. I mean, with everyone and their grandmother wearing full plates... how can knight-killer weapons like crossbows, maces, warhammers with sharpened spikes at the opposite side of the head, spears and pikes be so extremely inefficient? And just how can a sword actually kill someone in full plate before shattering? And why isnt knockdown against a character in full plate considered fatal?

Point being, how the armour and weapon types are treated in nwn is so fantasticly ridicolous and beyond any sense that making any connection between them and a social status is rather far off :P

True. All of DnD handles weapons in a very strange way.

Realism does not play a part in NWN. Or DnD for that matter. I doubt you'd like to rp out soiling yourself from your muscles relaxing at time of death. If you do, kudos to you.

Warrior: Uh... oh... what happened?

Cleric: You fell my son, but fear not! The Light of Illmater has brought you back from the jaws of death!

Warrior: Huh... um... can the Light bring me a change of pants while it's up?

Cleric: Oh dear...

I know. I have never considered forcing realism to DnD. I have other systems for that already.

Having blunt weapons that suck, such as quarterstaves, when compared to bladed, annoys me to no end though.

STAVES AND POLEARMS ARE MORE AWESOME THAN SWORDS! YARR!

Well, look at the stave? It's a simple weapon so most every class knows how to use it. It's two-handed so you get the 1.5 str bonus on it. It's large so you get the upperhand during a disarm attempt.

And I wasn't saying you were forcing realism, just a statement that realism itself is fairly void in Nwn. Like 6 inch divots in the ground preventing movement.

"CHAAAAARGE!... WAIT! Wait!... Look there men, it's a rock. We better make a wide pass around it, lest someone trip on it and get hocked on thier own spear... alright... everyone see the rock? Good! CHARGE!"

Well, in a world where you have characters that can carry a full grown bull elephant on their back and not break a sweat, I don't think there's too much worry about walking around with a few hundred pounds of armor on.... and as for the weapons that were typically used in the middle ages against plate mail? Simple explanation for why they don't work the same. Magic.

I agree. This would include character backgrounds approved by DMs or noble titles granted in-game.

So I guess if Xaviera had an armoured boyfriend, she'd be a Lady of the Knight....

If you're looking for an in-game money sink, I suggest simony. Sell titles for cash.
