I can't say I've been here for very long but I really like what this server is about and the way forums effect the game it's brilliant, I'm struggling a bit to understand some of the lore about the races and terminology used by FR, I have 3.5 books and i'm old skool 1st ed. player ( proud owner of red box )but I don't have stuff like dragonomicon and extention books, what one's am I looking for for FR referances that apply here?

I ask because I'm thinking of creating my second character pretty soon, thinking wizard at the moment but I'd like to skim through some FR stuff and see what grab's me that I could RP well. I'd also like to know a bit more about crafting on amia as I've yet to reach a mythal forge, and my monk can't make wands potions scrolls really, are wizards a good class for crafting capibilitys on amia?

Amia is between 3.0 and 3.5, I would also read through the lore topic to get an idea of the sort of books you should be looking for. Thought I would get in before the real lore junkies

Look on a bittorrent site, with any luck you can download all the books from there. That's how I got my full collection D&D rule books.

Keep in mind that's illegal unless they were published more than a hundred years ago (which they weren't), so only do so if you are happy committing a crime.

No reason not to get everything they offer, legally and for free. If you have any questions regarding lore and books, I'm one of the persons you'll probably have some luck asking.

Forgotten Realms history is Amian history. We're around 1373-1374, and you can take almost everything from before that time (that is, almost all 3.5 and older source books) as part of our game world. There's also some additional lore you can find in the R&L forum, such as the Amian custom elven races.
