Not directed at anyone in perticular just a general observation.

I don't know why anyone with windows would have problems with timezones... Just double click the clock and select the timezone tab, every timezone by GMT +/- whatever is listed there with mayor cities so you should be able to find the right ones, then it's just a simple case of adding or subtracting... start-programs-accessories-calculator

I am glad to see that more and more people are putting time zone indications with the times in their posts.

,^~^, Awwws, I was wanting to help fight with the kelvemorites...

Of course how ever Im not sure I was invited... "Hmph" Please do do something else with another DM too, Because I understand the Epic lag problem, but I also dont like having an event made so popular and important, just to find out I cant do anything at last minute. I mean Im fine with the other DM thing, but please dont make it something Toatally random, Give it a plot with an IG importance preferably somewhat close to that of the Purging of Benwick... : /

Why should Ron need to shoehorn some irrelevant event into his plot just because your PC has no justifiable reason to be there before the attack starts and yet is still able to be there after the incredibly loud attack begins?

He shouldn't.

Other smaller events for other PCs that are more open and general may help deter the want for people to go there and keep it to the essential.

I know how badly I would want the chance reasonably to go kick Black Caravan arse. Problem is, none of my characters are at present, in a valid position to do so.

Probably by the time I get on the bulk of the event's done anyhoo but we'll see.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: If Ron hadn't given you OOC warning, no one would be complaining, but he needed to do so to inform his people of the time. So the idea of complaints is weird to me.

Excuse my rudeness, I was just saying that because I just got the idea that noone would be able to be anywhere near it -at all- Rather than just waiting to hear buildings start crumbling... ^^ Im able to wait untill I actually hear fighting ICly, I was gonna do that anyway b4 All this started. I was just angry cause I thought u were saying all I could do is hear about what happened and read it on the fourms instead of actually doing something...

^^ Sorry for the misinterpretation...

To people grumbling; Pick one of the following.

A - I give no warning. Players just need to be lucky in the area when I go "Oh, I have time". Lots of people miss out.

B - I give a week's warning for the only, solid, time I have so that at least people who -could- make it are aware of it and ready.

C - I don't bother in doing it IG at all, and simply make a DM Story/Plot post detailing cause and effect.

WonWon, you did what you should have done. There are key players that need to organize to be there. We need to ask the Triadic Knight folks to be there and ready, we need the Kelemvorites to be there and ready, if you give us no warning, how will the ones we want there and that has being paying attention and participating know that they should be there?

It is tough to draw the line here, but as he said, if you live by the area and you listening the noise (I would say if you live anywhere between Salandra Temple and Kohlingen and on the back where I would think are the giants and the bridge and he even included Bendir and Shrine) you have a good excuse to listen that. But, if you honestly cannot find a good reason for your character to be there, just have sense.

You know I knew when the Tower of Mystra was going to be attacked and I wanted to be there because my character Delarwyn was very close to the tower. I thought it quite poor that because I knew about it oocly that I would just somehow be around so I could listen the noise and poof, here I am. And when I listen about that plot, I am always like awwwwww.. but, sometimes we cannot have what we want.

Having been on your end of the fence WonWon, I apologize if I am coming off as grumbling. You picked the method that you thought would best befit what you wanted, and that's fine.

Hell, I remember back on Arileth having to run a critical event in my Wharftown/Umberlee plot and as it was mostly mid levels that'd been doing the legwork and similar, I wanted to reward them with giving them the main action, but at the same time I didn't want others (especially Epics) to feel left out.

My solution was two attacks that manage to almost crash Arileth at the time *thankfully we didn't* .. (one attack I OOCly got the hint out that if you're Epic you should be at, I handed that one over to a colleague who was more familiar with how to challenge powerbuilders)

A second attack at the primary target where the plot Focus had been geared around was also run.. that was the one I personally handled.

I remember being told by the Server owner's wife who was on at the time that there was no one around who could reset the server right after so needless to say I was just a TOUCH panicked, but thankfully it didn't crash so all was good. No one approached with major complaints save Lag, but that was an accepted aspect of the event.

Keep in mind daylight savings time is also that day for Europe, isn't it?

Some website I checked said: "DST starts on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 1:00 AM local standard time"

So at 00:00 (the time of the event), it's still that time. An hour later, during the event, the time will jump forward.

That is my understanding of it, at least.
