Does any body remember the name of the old boss from the old Malar Temple, from before it was actually the Malar temple? I hope that sentence makes sense... I seem to remember it starting with an "L" and that's about it. It would be nice to have for a tale I'm working on.

I think it did not have a name.

I think it was simply "Chosen of Malar", or "Champion of Malar".

The thing that used to be there was called the "Chosen of Malar". I know because my Salandran spent an hour there asking it not to be so mean. :P

I think he means prior to it being 'The Chosen of Malar'.

In that case I have no idea as it was before my time.
Sorry!

I don't recall a time when the Malar Temple wasn't the Malar Temple. You may be thinknig of Ljot, the Werewolf in Forrstakkr.

Well, I did some searching, and found this:

Are you sure it had a name before? Or did it go back and forth? I seem to remember something about it, too, but I can't remember if I'm thinking of an NPC monster, or a player who played a Chosen of Malar.

Nah, it wasn't Ljot. It may have been a ruined Malar temple, but nothing identified it as such. It had no idol and was before the diety system. I remember just refering to it as "the ruins in Amia Forest" or "the ruined temple". I've discussed it with other players before who remember him having a name, but couldn't recall it either. So I'm on the right track, just need someone with an epic memory feat...

Anyway, it's not that big of a deal. I don't really need it for what I was doing, it would just be cool and help flesh it out with a bit of Amia history.

Thanks for the search Koragi! I do appreciate it. He definitely had a name, I don't know if it switched around or not. I just remember the first few times I faced him there was a name, then I took a long break. When i came back with a different character he had changed to the Chosen of Malar. I remember being bummed because the name seemed more personal than the generic title. He looked the same and was in the same place... *heavy sigh*

Rather than spam your topic, I'll try another search. :P

I found the following conversation in December of 2005:

"//NO cure for you! become the new choosen of Malar, anyway why is a lich the choosen of Malar?"

"//Lich got changed...not a lich anymore"

My question is... Would it have been before that, and possibly this lich they're talking about, or afterward, when it may have gotten a name in between the "Chosen of Malar" it is today and it was at the end of 2005? Your join date says 2007, but that's not always accurate for join dates.

I'm really curious about this, in case you couldn't tell. :D

Edit: I remembered. The Malarite I was thinking of was named Intellia (Tyln, I think?). Not sure if that was an NPC or not, but she's mentioned in the DM Story forums waaaay back.

Intellia Tyln (you got that right, Koragi) was a PC played by Zeral, I think. Quite an interesting character, too - I quite enjoyed debating Malarite doctrine with her as my druid.

Yeah... the join date is not accurate. I started playing on Amia at least in early 05', possibly earlier, I don't rightly recall exactly when.
I don't remember a lich at all so it was probably after that. He looked like he does now, just a different name. Sometime in 05' would seem about right... if that helps at all :)

Well, the mystery is solved.

The Chosen of Malar always has been called just that. However, he used to be a lich, and was made into a furry. Probably because it makes minute sense to have a Malar lich.

Koragi and Disco, thanks for the effort. Though i do feel a bit less sane and wonder how that seed got planted into the murky depths of memory...
