Right, i play a NG human. He keeps running into a banite woman who is trying to persuade him to follow Bane. He's 19, but doesn't know much about deities at all. I wanted to follow this RP, as it seems an interesting turn of events...But i don't see how a NG character could become LE...

just follow the rp. don't attach yourself to the alignment. make traits, flaws, quirks. Make a charachter not a machine of an alignment. once you have that you can start to follow the rp. it will allow you for example to have the banite play off what you have and encounter difficulties too.

Don't attach yourself to your alignment more so than yor character's quirks and personality - they play a more dominant role IMO.
And if you're worried about alignment shift, just stop and think Anakin Skywalker (CG/CN) -> Darth Vader (LE)

Bane accepts NE alignments, it's not the prefered of the three alignments but it's acceptable.
Dropping from NG to NE rather then LE would be easier.

Agreed.
Also, it's not unrealistic to be brainwashed into going from NG to NE in a kinda short time, imo. Just because mechanically you would be leaping from NG to NE, doesn't mean that, in reality, you didn't go through TN first and then finally were pulled down to the dark side. With more RP, you can become more lawful also, but as was mentioned, you don't -have to- because Bane is alright with NE.
Alternatively, you can remain TN and be pushed toward lawful to LN and not even have to go evil if you don't want to. Be creative and make sure the DM's see the effort. It's kinda like grade school math when you're doing long division, "Show your work kids!"

It's not unrealistic either that he won't change his alignment at all. The chick just has to do some first class persuasion to make Bane look like a reasonable choice. That's what people of a faith do, they persuade.

My character persuaded someone last night to sacrifice himself. Yus, you see, get the right woman and you can persuade a man to do anything.

I was going to say exactly this, but I should have anticipated that xordae would beat me to it. Seems I'm often agreeing with him.

...through roleplay, is my guess.

As long as you do have a divine class you can be any alignment and follow Bane.

That tends to be my method.
Although generally (with one very cheese exception) my characters' alignment is based on their personalities.
Of course, nothing is set in stone - you can change over time. It's all down to RP.

If you'd follow Disco's argument and end up as chaotic evil banite...
They you've a few other options left:
You could start to hang out with Bolo': Will probably only make you an pretty disturbed chaotic evil character
You could become a loyal banite: And turn into a lawful evil peep.

You shouldn't consider alignment at all. Do what your character would do, evaluate the Banite's arguments from the perspective of your character's values. Let the RP move you along. At the end of the day, you can check if your alignment still matches your actions. If it doesn't, your alignment changes, not your actions. And there's no reason any alignment couldn't worship any deity. A Chaotic Good person just might not make a very wise Banite, considering his gross misinterpretation of the dogma.

That's my thought on alignment too.

I'm in a being converted situation where alignment shift isn't -really- necessary, but I want a class that meshes well with that group, namely assassin, but I'm CN. if he wants to grab some blackguard and show some evil devotion, why deny the shift?
as long as it isn't for powergaming and giving him class combos that have comflicting requirements it shouldn't matter.

That's why we suggest to change Alignment to match RP, not the other way around.

I agree, but it is difficult to get that alignment change unless you are the epitome of the new alignment

Not really. I usually give reasonable alignment changes if you just ask and I've seen some RP towards that, or you explain it convincingly enough. That all applies only if there's no conflict with your class, though,

Assassin is in my opinion not*the* best class for the Church itself.
But a good one anyway, including for RP.
I'm looking forward to meeting your assassin.
