I just recently browsed the subraces for Amia again and I couldn't help but notice that for some the discriptions are still missing. I think I've been active for over a year now on Amia and I was wondering if ever it would get added.

Hey, how am I to write a helpful description of faeries, when such a race doesn't even exist in the setting? >_> I'd have to write about pixies or sprites, and I loathe to make that decision.
That's just an excuse, though. Shadovar, Mulan, Durpari I promise to work on, as soon as possible. (Which might not be very soon, because "as soon as possible" means "as soon as it sounds fun.") If anyone's interested in doing something for Half-Elves and Half-Drow, be my guest. Just please make sure you do your research, and check multiple canon sources first-hand. (If a website references a book, check the book yourself.) I guess there's not much else than Races of Faerûn and some previous edition campaign setting that helps with half-elves and half-drow, though. They're the easiest and most boring. I reckon it's useful to note where the highest populations of half-elves on Faerûn are, and one such would be Aglarond. All this is the ideal, but if you have a nice, short description that follows the structure of the other descriptions, feel free to submit it and it can be edited.
Feytouched are problematic, because the subrace on Amia isn't what the subrace is in canonically. Also, Feytouched aren't recorded in the Realms. So that needs some adjustment, I guess.
Don't be scared by my demands. If you're a decent writer, know what you're writing about and don't object to mimicking the structure of other people's works, go ahead and submit your descriptions. You can't do much worse than I've done with the missing subraces, that is, written nothing at all! We do reserve the right to edit them, though.

Most largest population of Half-drow is in Dambrath.
I think the nett effect of the platinum award races is, its likely only one to four people ever end up with said race. Meaning the race is rare. Duergar, svirfneblin, drow, goblins, etc...
Are extremely common in the Underdark...I don't see the advantage of adding them as a platinum race. Why make them rare when they're more plentiful than sun elves?

Just crack down on surface drow! We all know how it goes. You made a new character and are tossed into the Underdark. Then you either are sharp enough to make it down there, or you get rejected and end up in Cordor selling white linen.

Don't touch the drow, at least the evil ones. Good drow, sure I would actually enjoy an appliacation on them. Perhaps it would make people understand that drow are a hated race and not a cuddly one, but I make do. But for the UD races that live and stay in the UD, they should be free to make. The Ud would die with people requiring an application for the races.
Here is a question, why can you make an Orog freely yet can't make a surface orc free of charge, for afaik orogs are full blooded orcs. same thing with orgrillion
kobolds, orogs, goblins, hobogoblins, ogrillion, orogs, aasimar, and tiefling, Those races I wouldn't mind seeing a request for, but that is just me.

You can make one "free of charge" but you do need a request. The reason is simple: neither Gray Orc nor Mountain Orc is an available subrace. Don't ask me why, it wasn't the current team that decided which subraces would be added.
I suppose you're free to discuss new platinium restrictions all you like, but the team isn't considering such at this time, and I personally find it unlikely there will be any more subrace restrictions during the current team's existance. I may be wrong, but that seems to have been the general opinion lately.
If anyone's interested in writing those subrace descriptions, do post them here or PM them directly to the DMs. I'm happy to help with source material, should you need help.

Platinum Coin is not paying though, except if you call investing time to research and write a motivation for your character a "payment"

I would advice doing such exercise for any character you make. It helps create better characters of any race.

Don't worry, I doubt Disco would do anything to the subraces since he's already said he won't be adding any, ever. There's nothing wrong anyway. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. A rule isn't going to change the problem; people. It's not that they're not platinum races, it's that people chose to be asses. There's no stopping that. Trust me, I've tried.

I agree with you carter, and with phearnun. Though I wouldn't support it if the UD races that stayed in the UD were request only.

Personally I would like to see a platinum request put on "Good drow", or make "Good" drow start in the UD just like they're supposed to.
If I recall, the majority of Eilistraeen worshipping drow worship her in the UD, secretly.

Yes, this is what I would love. at least the starting thing, you could change it later, but this way "good drow" might understand how evil normal drow are.

I care not if Vhaeraunites and Elistraeens exist on the surface. What irks me is the number of surface drow who instead worship some kind of Human god instead. I think they outnumber the V's and E's exponentially.
Just make good drow (excluding Elistraeens) a platinum application. That would solve some of the problem.
Or otherwise, issue them dual scimitars as standard issue and only make ranger drows wielding scimitars free to choose.
AS for other races, the problem seems to be they all end up in Cordor rather than roleplaying down in Underport or even the merc camp if they want to interact with surfacers...
Mind you, I think we should platinum coin all Elves too and Dwarves and well, Humans!
haha!

OR They could just join a faction that has their race involved. Here's a list of faction with strong ties to some of the races you mentioned:
Bloodbeards (Duergar)
Dark Horde(orcs, orogs, goblins)
Tenek tribe (Kobolds)
Various Llothite Drow Houses (Llothite Drow)
Nightshadows (Vhaeraunite Drow)
House Vin'taelhess (Ghaunadauran Drow + other UD races)
In nearly every case, faction members help those others learn to RP their chosen monster race...
The problem is, these races can often start in Cordor, where they learn to interact like a 'good surfacer' and thus the problem starts...

Phearnun quote "And this is not possible if you research the race you want to play first, send it in to see if you did a good job and then play after a week post-request?..."
Finally a decent arguement! Yes I would be very much in favour for having people research races more. I'm very much annoyed by overly friendly elves that seem to like dwarves just fine and can't see anything sad about being a human, or all the dritz, the fashion saw cleavage bonus fay, demons and such.
In light of that some closer supervision in granting characters would be welcome.

Pfft... we talked about racism vs speciesism.
Jack saying to another ethnic human he was more superior because he was from a pure-bred family is racism. Jack saying he has a bigger penis to an elf because he's human is speciesm.

Truth be told I absolutely love it when characters are racist towards my Tiefling.. Creates hostile RP which forces most people nearby to take sides and makes tension, and makes for more great RP.
Alternatively he doesn't have any real issue with the majority of races, but he'll completely lose it if he comes across a Devil/Half-Devil/Tiefling (with Devil blood) etc.. Being of Demon blood and all.

Faerun's terminology is different from our own.
Elves and humans are called different races in faerun, incorrectly so, but alas, it's part of the setting.
Just the same, Chultan and Calimshani are not of different races, in faerun. They are subraces of humans.
As such, racism is the correct term when applied to human-elf relationships in our setting.
And, those who think tieflings, orc, drow etc should require requests... How are those races more difficult to roleplay than a dwarf, halfling or sunelf? By that argument, every race other than human should be plat coined.
Most of us do not wish to study an encyclopedia just to play a game, neither do I care to become a graduate in asimaar to play one. That's work.

Well, technically they (elf + human) can breed with each other and create viable offspring (offspring capable of procreating), so they aren't different species >.>
So since they can interbred it is quite correct to call them a 'race' rather than a 'species'.

Well, technically they (elf + human) can breed with each other and create viable offspring (offspring capable of procreating), so they aren't different species >.> So since they can interbred it is quite correct to call them a 'race' rather than a 'species'. Hence the term "subraces".
Yup.

Why not? It seems the right tangent for it, unless the OP feels his question hasn't been fully answered.

I struggled more to get my main fey accepted in Winya, than I did to get my Drow accepted around places.
Which I found quite amusing, because it generated more RP, on both sides.
Roleplay is what you make it. If you dislike that then voice it ICly, not OOCly on the forums. People will always do what suits their fancy, unless somehow the mindset on what Amia is, changes.
I were lucky enough to keep finding elves and humans that were suspicious or showing hatred to Drow, and when I were levelling my Eilistraeean drow, even though he's got semi known parents that are seen in general as "good", he kept getting internal struggles in the party. Such as they'd demand he was in the front at all times, and not using ranged weaponry, because he could shoot the elves. He wasn't allowed to get spells and such, and so on and so on. Which just made it ten times more fun to level him, as he's an Arcane Archer build.... and as a result of all the harassment from others, nervous to outsiders.
Just saying, voicing stuff like this ICly instead of OOCly can have great result, AND bring more RP and fun for all sides. I know plenty of people who "hate" the "monsterous" races, not just one or two, but just about all of them. And I think it's great, because on Amia, automatically hating Drow, Tieflings, Goblins and so on, will quickly get you the "arse" label.
Props to everyone who contribute to racial disputes. Be it accepting it, or hating it.. as long as they do it Icly first!

I got the arse label for being a jerk to Lomir. Does that count? He has purple hair.
