I'll be brief as I'm sort've in a window playing Battleforge and writing this at the same time
Can a Tiefling with a Demon heritage pick out a Devil-blooded Tiefling (or half-devil) by looks alone? eg. Said Devil-blood may have horns in their description, would they appear distinctly different to a Demon-blood?

There are certain traits typical to certain types of fiends. What horns, wings, tails, eyes, teeth or skin you have, probably resembles that of your ancestor. One with the blood of an Ice Devil is probably not going to have skin that's hot to the touch.
That said, I don't think there are any obvious tell-tale signs when it comes to Tieflings. Most of the time, they have one or two features out of the ordinary. With half-fiends, it might be different.
All that said, there's no reason a tiefling with demon heritage would be able to pick out a devil-blooded one any better than Farmer Bob. There's certainly no supernatural sense they have, and therefore it seems more like a matter for experienced, planewalking scholars to determine.

I usually RP how it feels ... a Detect Chaos spell should easily pick up the difference.
I just sent a tell asking the other person if they minded the 'sensing' with my half devil (without the spell), and them able to feel it in return and RPed from there - nothing in canon that I know of, simply for flavour.

If I recall rightly, there's a Tiefling trait that is "Baatezu respond to as if Tanar'ri" and one for the other direction, too. I imagine if someone had this trait, you could clue them in on to the Chaos/Law type of your fiendish heritage and then let them decide if they can pick it up or not.

Oooh I would be -highly- interested in learning more about that if anyone would be so kind. I have a tief and usually her most visible responses are to the presence of Aasimar. Even hearing celestial spoken initiates a reaction in her.
It's a quirky sensitivity and likely higher than the supposed 'discomfort felt in the presence of the other' but hey. Every PC has their quirks.

Well, it probably just means that NPC Baatezu/Tanar'ri sense your strong blood and treat you as mortal enemy as they would a full-blooded demon/devil.

Yep. It's not exactly easy to point to specific fiends (of the dozens known and the dozens probably unheard of) based on red fingernails, a forked tongue or small horns on temples.

Like a Tiefling; Cornugon(Devilish), who would have some black scales, could be mistaken for someone who is part Black Dragon.
This has happened to my character a few times already, though he's mistaken for a blue dragon due to his hair color and the scale color.
Here's an interesting question, not knowing a lot about specific demon and devil types, but would certain variants of tiefling or infernal kin have heightened senses of smell? I imagine that at least some devil or demonkin would be good sniffers.

Quite possibly. I could imagine such of descendants of Canoloths, the canine type of Yugoloths. (Neutral Evil mercenary fiends; there's more to the Lower Planes than just Baatezu and Tanar'ri.) Nothing so potent as to let you run around Amia tracking people's footsteps, though.

There are a few planescape books that mention about teiflings. Faces of evil: the fiends for example has a bit of information upon them, not a whole lot just a page or two but still it is nice.

Just wait.. soon you got a canaloth Tiefling who will hump peoples legs *sagenods*

Why is this appearing as the two coppers from Hot Fuzz and a Swan?
Answer 1.) It's far more appropriate that way.
Answer 2.) The source pathway might've been changed by CrimsonLuna (who uploaded it, I just grabbed the source from the other thread it was posted in)
Answer 3.) Photobucket and Imageshack have both been acting oddly lately for me, so who knows.
The one driving is Chaotic, the one with the gun is Lawfull, and the goose is neutral.
Duh! Animals are all Neutral! =D

Just look who they're screwing with. If they're trying to root a Paladin or goody goody it's a Devil, if they're screwing a drow or another woman then it's a demon.
And yes, I'm stereotyping how Tieflings are mainly portrayed on Amia.
