I'm looking for information about the Red Wizard's of Thay in Amia. I realize this subject has probably been covered in length somewhere on this forum but at the moment I have been completely unsuccessful in locating it, any help in my search or direct information would be most appreciated.

Your most basic information concerns Cordor: Red Wizards of Thay are banished and exiled from Cordor on the pain of execution.

I'm not sure what else you're looking for? History, places of refuge, previous actions?

Well I'm pretty new to Amia, I just arrived three days ago and I already love the place! The information on them being band is helpful, but knowing why would be more helpful, are they a major faction, who is playing them, do I need to join a specific group, or can I just make one and go from there? these are my basic questions.

The Whys they are banned is best learned IC. It's a fun story.

Are they a major faction: To my knowledge there are barely 2 or 3 Red Wizards these days.

You can just roll a Red Wizard and go, yes, but expect Cordor (and many other places) to react very hostilely to you if they find out you are a Red Wizard of Thay.

There is a lot information about the red wizards about if you are just looking for the most basic information try look in Lords of Darkness 55-77

Dreams of the Red Wizards is nothing but book filled with Red Wizards lore though it is second edition

Spellbound, campaign guide Is a guide to the region and also holds a fair bit of information about the Red Wizards.

The Unapproachable East sourcebook I assume this holds useful information as well though I sadly do not have that book.

Thank you, all of this is helpful, Yes I have found many sources about the Red Wizards online, but my primary concern was playing them within the confines of there history in Amia. I didn't want to start a Red Wizard up only to later learn that they weren't permitted in the game, or that you needed DM permission or some such to play them properly. Special thanks to the player who contacted me about the Wizards. I'm very glad to see how friendly and helpful this forum is. That's not always the case in some places I have been playing in the past.

I suppose you would be interested to know that the island of Khem in the module is located in the Alamber Sea, some ways south of Thay. Thayvian ships regularly sail those waters, so it might make a lot of sense for some Red Wizards to arrive there and get a portal ride to Amia proper that way.
