are they disabled during spellcasting? By default they can be used while your casting spells, but that can be disabled so that while your casting you drop out of the expertise mode. I was wondering because i dont want to waste the two feats if it's disabled

you can't use them and cast at the same time to my knowledge. Was done to keep the multiclassed sorcs and wizzies that hit 64 AC from hitting 74 and such, if I remember right.

there is a hook that was included in one of the patches to allow them to be disabled with spellcasting but it is not the default state, Chickn or someone else is gonna have to say for sure.

Yeah, it's disabled when you cast, thank god. Now if Obsidian would fix this for NWN2.

Both are very nifty feat's if you plan on taking a corner sneak.

the idea is cast spells when you aren't being attacked, and use expertise to
keep them from hitting you if they target you

Again, it depends what you're fighting. If your enemy can't hurt you, and does sixty damage to himself every time he tries, why not?

anyone worth his salt is going to have a couple of mord scrolls ready.....so unless you're fighting a newb or something.....chances are it's just a waste of a spell slot

Right, can you tell me how my character with no UMD uses a mord scroll?

If you're a mage and using scrolls to Mord's people, you're not doing it correctly. You can cast it hasted and more effectively yourself.

I wasn't speaking about mages using mord scrolls of course, most mages have the spell itself and dont need the scrolls

Difference is that Expertise and Imp expertise is only +3 and +6 AC respectively in NWN2.

So, by that logic, anyone without UMD is a newb or not worth their salt?

Edit: Actually, by that logic, anyone without UMD and more Mords scrolls than a mage has buffs is.

So if I got Ruce to make a build without UMD, he'd be a newb? Or would he be not worth his salt, I'm not sure which applies where?
And all those with level 30 clerics, for example, are also newbs, or not worth their salt?

And that is one of the things that grates at my nerves about this wonderful server. At times, it does feel like UMD is expected, rather then optional.

Then how can you say:

without first knowing my build?

I fought against it for a couple of years, but now I've given up. The ability to read arcane scrolls is a pre-requisite for an effective PvP platform. Wish it wasn't, but it's a feature of NWN that isn't going to go away.

Tumble 30 is likewise a pre-requisite for a good meleer. Likewise I wish it wasn't, but that's NWN for you.

I dunno if it's specific to Amia. On a server where your builds need vetted by DMs first, I guess they could veto melee types taking a dash of Rogue or Bard, but on such a server, the disincentive to play tanks would be huge.

uuuhmm...correct me if I'm wrong and call me a noob if you like- and it's true, I've never played a UMD dumped pc - BUUUUUUUUT, from my understanding of the mechanics of spell res, and the save rolls connected to Mord's if cast from a scroll against a level 30 pure caster (especially one with spell res)....Mords will have about as much effect as a spit ball in Hell ...... then again, I'm nprobably a noob to all this mechanics

Mords works because it functions as a Greater Spell Breach + an uncapped dispel rolled into one. Even if you don't dispel anything, you're guaranteed to Breach off 6 spells off the breach list, and give -10 to their SR
