Not sure if I am just noticing a small blip on the overall picture but Epic Loot has been more easily traded for gold and at low gold values then ever before in all my years of playing.

I am not sure if this is because of more Boss Farmers or gold being worth more. I am going with the former.

The "OMG 10 mill gold" only really goes for the really rare items like +4 agility belt or +5 fortification cloak. All items that a large number of people want.

WF Rapier
WF Scimitar
Gloves of Spellcraft
Gloves of Discipline
Globes of Perform
+5 Fort cloak
Improved evasion ring
Ring of power
------------
The above can and have been sold for obscene prices.

Certain players sell everything, no matter what it is, for stupidly high prices,.

Also, no epic loot is more rare than the other. You have the same chance to get all of it, there's just alot of useless crap mixed in as well.

I am quite happy that nowadays I can go farm with one character and I can also go farm with another's character powerbuilt friends. Gotta love epic loot. But, 90% of my characters wont ever have an epic loot if not dced.. and maybe not even that since dcs are not, in any way possible, easy to get.

So, yes, be friends with powerbuilds that are not hungry to the point of always hunting alone. Of course you will have to roll for the loot, then to roll again with the party. But, at least you got some chance.

With just using Mythals and a Wonderforge i managed to make this:

Wonderforge Katana:

1d10 Bludgeon
Keen
1d8 Massive Crit
Onhit Consitution Drain DC - 16

With Greater Magic Weapon to add +5 Enhance.

That weapon right there is pretty good as it is, problem is it took a Divine Mythal and a Perfect Mythal, and i plan on changing the d10 bludgeon to 1d10 Magic damage.

In the 5 years that I've played Frey, he's gotten two epic drops.

One, he gave to Gurth.

The other, was within the last three months, and Ioun stone, and Frey lost it in the roll.

--------------------------------------------------

In the 5 years I've played Frey, I've gotten four things that cost DC's.

Staff of the Magus - Two staffs combined (yes, IC had both staffs and gave them up for the item) and augmented.

Bone sheath of the Pale Master (Plate Armour 0% arcane failure)

Summons reskin - Sasha ( )

Reskin for his Lichdom.

-------------------------------------------------------

The top I got for running around killing stuff.

The bottom I got for RP'ing.

How about all those who are upset about not being able to get epic loot because they can't solo, come up with a method to handle it IC?
--------------------------------------------------------

Magnarion Hammerhand's Great Adventures!

For only 1000 GOLD you too can join into the great safari to the Northern reaches of Brogenstein, where you'll be able to KILL to your hearts CONTENT!

Practice that new Domination spell you've just aquired !

Throw Hellballs if you like !

** Note any epic items dropped will be rolled upon equally.
We're going to RAID the boss once a week, so get in now!
--------------------------------------------------------

That took me 2 minutes of thinking. Not being sarcastic or crappy, just saying.. there's a solution IG, if you want it.

'Nuff said.

wow.. Quite nice indeed. I need to confess I dont know all the capabilities of the game for great weapons. I am more of the social network... I give you this you give me that and we are all happy. :D

And Kendera you can come hunt with me if you want I have some nicely build characters that are quite helpful. And some good friends too. Even though Tarick is mad at me now :( I still have a nice gang that are nice to rp and to hunt with...

Frey, same here, epic loot is quite rare. I got an armor and a necklace that I changed for other epic stuff that I could use. I once found a Flawless Mythal, but I donated it to the War knights. I think there are more important things than epic loot. Even though it is like. OOOHH.. LOOK THIS!!! And yes, to hunt in company is the best thing.. First, it sucks to be there in the dungeon alone killing without friends. I cannot do it. I am a social being to the core. And second, it is much easier and us that build poorly and dont know how to equip right do need company. *nodnods*

Again, I'm want people to understand that I'm not being snippy.... it's just handle it IG!

People RAID in WoW and other MMO's all the time, and really Amia is a MMORPG.

How do you think the different merchant groups get all their stuff?

Organized party runs, regularly done.

So wait.. you can.. organize something IG (RP), meet up IG and go actually HUNT IC (RP), and do this regularly, which will give you

RP + more of a chance to get a good item.

Or you can powerbuild, and run solo instances purely for greed.

:)

Regards,

Farming has always been a problem, and gold inflation has always been an issue, the only reason it's stacking up now is NOT because of the changes to bosses, no, it's because we had a rush of players who do literally nothing but bossfarm 24/7, network amongst themselves, get extreme amounts of gold, do little to no roleplay, and through this system invalidate a large portion of the playerbase's works in GP and items.

yeah I know I would be out hunting(farming if you like) right now if my bags were not full of junk (BoT pages, mythals, bone wands and paper) but I dont farm bosses I like killing hordes of monsters.

and yes I played Diablo for along time, 40chipped gems for a SoJ,X SoJs for somthing. golds value is heal potions so if anything on Amia we might see 300 heal potions for "Godly Plate of the Whale" or "Archangel's Staff of Apocalypse" with 255 charges.

yes I know the two items I listed are from Diablo1 and SoJs are Diablo2

That's exactly what would happen if a gold cap was instituted on Amia, yes. the new "gold" would be a small, light, high value item that can be gotten in bulk. And it'd likely be Heal potions.

It'd be crafting materials: blank scrolls, bone wands, and mythals.

I still think the black caravan helped put abit of value back in the gold with the consumables, but as its hard to dent some peoples pockets when you have to keep prices kind of low so that non-farmers can have a chance.

puppets hand, esseence of the nine swords and stones all did well for sales as far as I know.

nope, they dont stack well and only afew people want them. heal potions are used all but by one person on the server and stack up to ten and you can get them from NPCs.

I doubt it - they can't stack. Mythals are a maybe, but things like Heal Pots can be bought for gold, and since they can heal they have their own inherent value, and they can stack.

Collectable items that have no effect on gameplay, but are bragging rights. They are a good source of pocket pillaging.

My characters have been trading items with only mythals and it works out fine. The blank scrolls and bone wands are a stretch, I admit.

As for heal pots, that I can't see happening. It's worthless for toons that doesn't rely on it. Its inherent value is only 3000 gold at best. People can craft it for much cheaper. I sometimes even sell them at merchants because I have too many already (I just keep 30-60).

Great mythals on the other hand could go from 40-70 thousand.

Edit: For example, I wouldn't trade a wonderforged rapier for 600 heal potions. But if it were 25 great mythals, I would seriously consider it.

they stack up to 10 for about 30k and unless DMs change the price(dont think that will happen) it will allways remain same value, I remember when you could buy greater mythals for 20k, mythals are market value only so are not a safe investment

also weight is .1 per potion, so you can use cheap bags and hold lots of them unlike greater mythals at 15.5 so you have to use bags of holding if your going to stock pile it like gold.

Argh, don't turn this into a D2 item trade bonanza. If you can calculate how much these certain trade items would be worth in gold, then why not just use gold?

And I'm not just saying that because I never could find a single frakking SOJ mumblegrumble...

Exactly - if one puts a cap on gold prices, though, people will have no choice but to resort to this type of trading.

Besides the fact that one can craft it for 1/5 of the cost and get it from the pirate's loot, it's also wholly dependent on the character you're trading.

The characters (tanks) that _needs_ heal would simply use up this heal pot currency. The characters that don't need heal, clerics, has simply no use for it.

What's the point of choosing heal as currency when it's readily available and as Cobbit says...

Mythals on the other hand are rarer. You can't just buy it on demand.

Everybody gets one great in about every one hundred kills. While in every one hundred kills also earn your character about 150,000 in gold, roughly 50 heal pots.

Good points on the weight issue though. Anyways this talk is going way off topic now. :X
