This is going to be the thread for the ongoing project I am going to be writing. It is the story of Rras' life, I have it in my head to this point, and I think it should be shared, I hope people will enjoy.

http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB2/viewtop ... 058#626058

This is my first large creative writing work that I'm that's going to be fully public. I've always been heavily self-conscious, but I want to overcome that fear.

I'm laying down the ground work to get the ball rolling, to commit myself to doing it. I've hesitated for some time to post on the PC stories with anything but responses, and even then I've been wary, as a result I feel like I've let Rras down.

Dawww... I was expecting something about Communism.

On a serious note, do it if you enjoy it.

I'll be looking forward to the read. It's rare that I hold enough concentration to read, but knowing just a tad about you, is more than enough to make sure I'll be checking up on it every other day, just in case.

Hope it'll be fun for you to write.

Just write, if that's what you want to do. If people want to read it they will. Don't farm yourself out for commentary hoping for validation.

I think it's more about the fear someone might "steal the idea" and use it for something else.

It's one of the reasons why, after a long time, I remove posts I made about my characters.

While they are active, I write.

When I stop playing them, I tend to remove all stories written by then, like this: http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8016.

I'd take it as a compliment if someone stole my ideas. Means they were good enough that someone else wanted to use them.

But then, most of my ideas are stolen from comics, movies, TV, music... And I'm sure a fair bit of those are stolen from their own sources as well.

I always say. Give credit where its due.

I wouldn't mind ideas being stolen (in the case of the stories I write) as long as there was a line or two saying it was originally inspired (or something along those lines) by person X.

I give credit even to 'Deemer because I was inspired by Saris to make Auron.

Besides, I write them for fun, not profit, and to think someone could be getting money for something that was, originally, mine... makes me very, very angry.

I look forward to reading it.

Until we get to see more, we have the Communist Dragon facing defeat in this Monarchist Propoganda:

It's a stunning likeness, except for the fact that anyone that suggests the Redistribution of Wealth out of Rras' Hoard probably will get a punch to the throat.

*coughs*

My posts were completely off topic here.

Anyway!

I look forward to reading your stories, Dwaggy!

People have been "stealing" other's ideas for centuries upon centuries.

Psh. And you don't need to farm the topic with negativity! I'll farm you right back with it! (I hope I used the "farming" idea alright. Otherwise, my negativity totally fails because of my stupidity.)

But I bet it'll be interesting, Dwagin, even if all my characters hate Rras because he's a crazy red dragon.

Point is, writing is a lot harder than simply pouring out what has been percolating in your brain for months on end. If you're going to do it, it's best to do it for the sake of writing, and not for the sake of other people reading it.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't write with a particular audience in mind, and I guess some kind of feedback is better than none, but you ought not bend over backwards to make them like your work. It is important that the journey from beginning to end is interesting, in my opinion.
