Hello there,
Not long ago I started playing here at Amia with a friend, and we both felt that the server seemed nice, and so far it still does.
It's just one thing that keeps happening to me, which after last time started to grain on my nerves.
Out of the last seven times my character has been out hunting/XPing/adventuring, five times she has been pushed away from the place within minutes by evil characters.
Like, for example - She hunts kobolds in the kobold caves, and three evils appear, and through neat RP, they basically say she will leave or suffer the consequences. Now, the first times it didn't bother me, thinking that at least the RP in the situation was good. But now it has happened so many times and I'm starting to get a sour taste from constantly being what some would call "power abused".
Now, I have nothing against the players that did this as such, but I do wonder - Is this something I'll have to get used to?

No. In fact, it is against the rules.
They can not take away the hunting grounds from you.
To put it the way I saw/did it once:
I saw a group of surfacers coming to the underdark, now as a Drow I could not let them pass and threatened them to leave or die by my hands.
I then send them a tell that they could return in 1 minute, I just would leave and let them be.
So they left, I went on my way, and everyone was happy.
That is the way it supposedly should be imho.
At least its more fair.
Also, send them a tell that they are breaking the rules by taking the hunting ground from you. If they don't acknowledge it take screenshots of the characters and send them to a DM via the forum.
Or just get some Epics from the City Most are willing to help in such cases.
Edit:
Also sorry to hear that this was the first way you experienced the server. <.<
The first impression is the most important one.

See the section on PvP Rules. There are also several threads on it.

Its against the rules if you are in the area first. Yes either get a DM at the time or Screenie it and send it in.

If they're there first, they can tell you to bugger off, if you are they cannot - screenie and report to a DM when someone tries that. After telling the person OOCly just to make sure there's no confusion.

Feel free to send me a PM also, I always love playing with the newer players. Somehow it brings the feel of nostalgia I had when I first started back. You can find me either playing Maal or Mourngrym of the Eternal Order.. Look me up!

Well sorry mr. sensitive!
The old players seem to fall in 2 categories, the grinders and the rp snobs.
The grinders never rp, the snobs only rp, in fact when they do level they complain about running because its not realistic... while holding a flaming weapon and being hit by werewolves repeatedly.
I find it rare and pleasing to find anyone who is in the middle ground.

I find that offensive (while I don't classify myself as an old player). You are stereotyping a whole bunch of people who have been playing this game for years - wouldn't you be the least bit upset if someone tried contending that all noobs suck at RP, for example?

It's clear that one couldn't have watched enough so-called older players for more than five minutes each to come up with the conclusion that they're either this or that.
If you want to understand someone better you're going to have to be patient and ask why they're doing what they're doing instead of passing summary judgement.

If the shoe fits dont wear it guys. I was stating an honest oppinion. Very rarely do I find anyone who wants to do both. *shrugs* Really wasnt meant as an insult, I do not know any of you characters, as far as Im aware.
I guess maybe Im really not good at choosing my words. I do not think this is an oppinion, i think its a fact that a lot of people shun grinders and shun rp'ers. I just like people who are more in the middle. Every time I log in there is at least 2 people who spam me to go level with them, very annoying. And sometimes I run into people who like I said will send you tells saying how your rp is not this or not that or its against lore, or I run to much etc.
I want the happy medium, this porredge is just right you know. I try to retain a healthy balance. Im all for roleplaying during a hunting trip, lve it really if its done well. But at times the people Ive done it with jeporadize the party by doing so, this is not good. I like rp not if I end up getting killed by monsters.
For those who have rp with me consistently I think most would say Im at least a halfway decent roleplayer, my characters have distinct personalities I think at least *shrug*
Again I meant no offense in my comments.

such narcs!
Personally I have had the problems several times.. latest was when I was leveling Marinah, Drow or other people would come up to her nad her pet bard friend in trolls or the crags and be like "you can leave or die" she personally always chose the silent third option which was *snort* and proceeded to kick there ass. why someone would take on someone with muscial notes comming out of there head.. and someone with a big sword is passed me..
but what I'm trying to say.. is try to reslove it yourself. the dm's have enough crap to put up with.

Not at all. It was probably just a string of bad luck. Give the place a few more days and explore the different areas in the module.

If people are spamming you Tells for joining party, set them straight. Even just 'Sorry too busy to answer now' will probably get them to stop.
If people are sending Tells about this and that bit of lore, just tell them that you haven't read a source book cover to cover.
As far as character movement is concerned, it's very hard for a party to be co-ordinated and communicate properly when not everyone is moving at the same rate, when party members pause to pick up and examine their loot etc. It's important for a party to work as a team because although some party members may be tougher than the rest, that doesn't mean they won't do a whole lot better with everyone doing their thing. In my opinion, save running for when you need to be the punching bag for hostiles rather than someone else, or when there's a lot of uninteresting areas that you want to blaze past.
To be honest you really need to stop the party and verbalise what you want to do, instead of staying quiet on the party channel and giving up on having any kind of influence over the party's behaviour. If you don't say something then they aren't going to read your mind and guess that you want them to do A and B together where possible.
