No, that's 4th edition lore and not accurate at all.

A question regarding the Inner Planes:

I know you have the Elemental Planes (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) an the Energy Planes (Negative, Positive). But you also have Para-Elemental (Elemental crossed with another Elemental), Quasi-Elemental (Elemental crossed with an Energy) an, presumably, Quasi-Para-Elemental (Para-Quasi-Elemental?)

My question is, what are these Para-, Quasi- and Para-Quasi- (Quasi-Para- ?) ? I know (well, I think) that Earth + Fire is Magma, Fire + Water is Steam, Air + Positive is Radiance and Air + Negative is Vacuum, but what of the others?

There's only elemental, paraelemental and quasi elemental, no mixtures of the three. Hang on, let me see if I can find all the combos.

The Prime Material plane is the "Normal" plane player character slive on. The shadow Plane, the Ethereal Plane, and the Astral plane overlap in parts allowing the use of things like Greater Sanctuary, Teleportation, and Shadow Jump. The rest don't border (except on each other such as in case sof the para and quasi planes) and are their own maintained bits.

Cheers, I knew the general overview (material -> transitive -> inner -> outer) but not the specifics ... where does the tree fit in?

There are two different cosmologies: the Great Wheel which is core and 2e FR (and described here) and the Great Tree which is 3e FR. We use both.

I think it's best to treat them as theoretical models and not something you can physically witness and prove. Perhaps two schools of thought for scholars to debate IC? Personally, I've used them interchangeably as different models IC, referring to Nirvana or Mechanus whenever discussing the Plane of Order, etc. You won't find the Green Fields or Barrens of Doom and Despair on the Wheel, but they undeniably exist, too.

Does anyone know any information on different types of ink in forgotten realms?

I know you can get many different colours, but they cost twice as much as black ink.
That's about all I know. I'd say most are produced magically, because a lot of the necessary dyes should be much more expensive than that, but that's just conjecture.

Oh, I remember a post about someone asking about printing presses.

Yes. They exist on Amia. Definitively.

Well, this was supposed to be the Realmslore topic, not Amia lore topic, to begin with. They only exist on Amia, and probably are way too expensive to use for all but the richest businessmen (otherwise, there wouldn't be the profession of scribes).

Bags of holding on amia.

This is what the wiki says.
Quote:
If a bag of holding is overloaded, or if a sharp object pierces it (from outside or inside), the bag will rupture and be ruined, the contents lost forever in non-space.

Yet the general consensus seems to be that when a bag of holding gets ripped, the content just spills out.

Which is it?

No, when it's ripped, the interior is obliterated save a Wish spell. This tends to get dorked around in game because no one wants to lose their entire bag of holding that had 2 years worth of epic gear in it.

Or like, someone's corpse or something. Seriously.

That much I figured. :P

But story-wise, stuffing something into a bag of holding and then cutting the bag would be a viable way to effectively destroy the item then, aye?

I guess. Incredibly boring, but yeah. Of course it's all really subject to the DM at the time, if it's a plot item.

And on the same subject, how hard would it be to pierce/cut a bag of holding? would it be like trying to cut through a leather satchel or would the magic make it more resistant?

and how would that be effected, if you were trying to cut it from the inside, and from the outside? would the inside be more difficult than the outside due to the magic affecting the inside?

I don't conceive of how it could be cut from the inside, personally.

As for difficulty, I don't know

ooh....this is funny, once someone shoved one of my pc's into a bag of holding without first taking off any bags of holding from my character. The result was a huge explosion that rocked Underport!

Was funny as all hell to watch! Lesson, never put a Bag of Holding into another Bag of Holding or bad things happen...

A 10 foot radius one way portal to the Astral Plane. Not a huge explosion.

If it does not have infinite holding capacity, and you stuffed it full of sharp objects, it possibly could.

Just a quick-question on Amia-specific lore. These green / blue /whatever flames that are in dungeons, are they done magically or chemically?

I figure it would depend on the dungeons, for instance despite the brightness I figure that the torches in all the drow places are not lite by normal fire but by faerie fire, which also can be different colors.

Neither. Its just an ambient light setting in the toolset and probably shouldn't be looked into too deeply. >.>

That said, it's probably 'magic'.

More interesting is what happens when you put one bag of holding into another. In case of Amia, you get Hellballed and a strange Underport gnome puts your one thousand pieces together again.

Sometimes I think Bags of Holding are the magic item in DnD with the most inane rule tidbits. Inside out, cutting it, inside another bag, inside a portable hole, etc, etc....

Seems a little odd that they suffocate ... if you left the bag open, wouldn't oxygen flow in? Can you be placed part in / part out (i.e. head part out)?

Khem is a large island in the Alamber Sea, which is considered neutral territory between Thay, Unther, Chessenta, Mulhorand etc. The Alamber Sea is heavily trafficked, by both trade and pirate vessels, and all sorts of drifters end up there, gupsy-esque kind of people for sure.

Khemites are a mixture of Untheric and Mulhorandi peoples, as well as probably folks from Thay and Chessenta who've arrived over the centuries and blended in the population. As you can read in game, the place has been ruled by both old empires but has lacked central government for a while, which means all sorts of people from the nearby regions have come and gone.

Edit: What Kjetta said!

I have a question about falling, if one was to say swap religion within their pantheon to a deity that the cleric's preivious deity has an alliance with would it still be treated the same? Ie, say an elven cleric of one of the elven dieties decided sometime in her life that her calling was with one of the other elven gods?

Or is it a case, where the clerics would be polytheistic enough, as I know that elves are polytheists, to worship the other deities to not fall like if say a drow cleric of Lolth decided to turn to Eilistraee?

There's no exception mentioned in this regard. The process would be similar: you wouldn't just go from casting spells in Corellon's name to casting them in Sehanine's name the next day. You'd generally need to be initiated into the new faith. Of course, it is a lot easier than leaving Cyric's flock and seeking acceptance in Tyr's church.

A question on Fey - do the Courts of Nightmare, Twilight etc. exist in FR, or does FR have a different system (i.e. different to Complete Guide to Fey)

I have no idea. They've never been referenced in FR, and the FR fey are just folks living in glades and such. This whole extraplanar nature doesn't seem very obvious. Just to disagree with Tormak, I'd be inclined to say they don't exist, but I honestly don't know. :D

You have some problems: 2e "celestials" are different from 3e "celestials" and FR "celestials" are different from core "celestials."

It's best not to rely on any websites, apart from WotC, d20SRD and to a lesser extent, Candlekeep.

Anyway, you have different kind of planar beings in FR's cosmology than core cosmology. We use both, so I guess you have both. Core has Celestia, and all those Archons and Eladrin. FR has deity-specific planes, with deity-specific outsiders. Selûne is served by the Shards, for example: a bunch of unique planetars. In canon FR, there is no "Celestial Plane," there's just a bunch of different planes with different kind of nature and alignment. The House of the Triad is probably closest to Celestia.
