dont know about the blocking of DMs, somtimes its nice to know what DM is on so you know if its a waste of time to ask a question or a request as each DM has thier own area they run.
mind you the only thing that means is a increase in the number of messages under DM chat asking stuff, so nothing detrimental.

Yeah, I don't understand the need to block DMs from the list, I kind of liked knowing which ones were on. Classes being blocked I can understand moreso.

Considering how Amia's players react when I either ignore their requests or tell them that I am busy running an event or with something else, I wouldn't mind being incognito again. If I happen to be doing something other than what you want me to do, I'm not doing my job as a DM.
This is particularly heartbreaking when you claim that helping you rebuild into a more powerful PvP machine to take down the PCs you don't like, or adjusting your name, or adjusting your bio, or giving you a custom summon, or porting you someplace because you're too lazy to walk there yourself, are all vastly more important than working diligently on moving along a story that involves players and is evolving the setting.
Especially when you turn around and, on this forum, claim that I need to do more of that, anyway.

I used to have DM names on the sidebar, but the DM staff asked me to remove them because it drove them insane ingame. It seems logical to extend this policy to the playerlist. Maybe not, though. Didn't ask.

no befor the changed you could see the DMs name when you joined the server, if you look under Personnel the DM list Avatars that they would go under, Kjetta being Grumbar , BoBo being Finder Wyvernspur most of the time...ect

I fancy going incognito, unless I announce that I am available for requests etc. Gives a DM a peaceful working environment, and less cries of being ignored by this and that DM, if I didn't have the time to reply each and every query with a "Busy!" tell. I might be possessing an NPC and RPing with someone, you know, and trying to maintain my character without an OOC tell here and there ruining the focus.
Those complaints are one of the few things that really tick me off. Sometimes people have no regard for other players, their need being top priority always.

If you're going incognito, why even list that a DM is on in the first place?
Not that I'm bashing/complaining, more just wondering.

Never thought about it before, but guess it's a bit of a PR stunt. Imagine coming from a dying NWN server somewhere, stumbling across amiaworld.net and seeing that there's 75 players and 4 DMs online, on a Wednesday! You'd go: "Cowabunga! Let's RP!"

Awsome!
I've been reluctant to pester the DM's over a small line addition to my bio; now I really don't have to!

It's a remain from the time there was a full listing, but most DMs didn't find it as disturbing doing-your-job-wise as the names eventually turned out to be.
We did start from the mindset, that it's nice to have names and numbers on display, mind. The current feelings and stripping down the information offered stem from the open system getting abused a lot.
Now it's there to attract attention, without being too much of a distraction, I hope. I guess some notice that "DM is busy, please be patient" would be handy... a DM could change a setting ingame and go run an event, and players would know they're not being ignored because the DM is a bitch, but because the DM has some other things to do.

yeah not listing the DMs on at all would cause massive problems, anyone who played on B-mia when they poped it out knows how bad wiltun was you would have people ganking you at load in, now if you know DMs are on B, you could message for help or if thier on Amia (the reason they added the fuction under the rest menu) Notify DMs on other server.
if you know if DMs are on or not it helps to save you wasting time seeking help thats not around so you could find it else where, like on the forums or other players.

As long as it has a "You are being ignored because the DM is a bitch" option for those of us that actually are horrendous people.

not gonna lie, feeling like you are being ignored is a bitch, but the server is jam packed at most times and chances are, due to simple probability, that they are doing something important with another player.
i personally like knowing who is on, because of course everyone has individuals they interact with more than others. I personally look forward to when there are DMs who have close interaction with underdark PCs.
I don't really this will make THAT much of a difference, from a player perspective, because the website shows how many DMs are on and now we only dont know who it is.
sorry, my post is all over the place, it really doesnt have any fluidity but i wrote it kind of quickly and ill possibly come back and edit it for clarification.

People should know DMs are online, but because people are irrevocably biased towards certain DMs, should not know WHAT DM is online until time comes to help. Maybe it will make everyone a little more polite.

Awesome changes! Now I get to have a completely incoherent bio for a few days until I can figure out how to work it right.

I'm not going to lie either. I think the DMs here do a smashing and sterling job! They've always been helpful and don't ignore you if your request is reasonable.
I'm also going to say this. That to me, event running/story making as a DM should be given higher priority than admin work. If Yossarin is running an event, I don't see why that should be dropped to serve others.
On the other hand, being stuck on a ledge for hours on end for instance, isn't much fun, so getting a DM to move you gives in my mind, DMs big brownie points.
My only concern is, how do we know, if we need help, if a DM is on at all? I don't mind being ignored, but being on B alot, if we send a message through to the other server, how do we know anyone is even there?

Does it still show up, at item 7 on the Rest button menu list? I mean, that'd be good enough. On Macs, we have no toggle function or windows mode (unless we play with code to make it semi-permanent and that's too small) so having to log out each time sucks.

It's also handy for DMs themselves. I keep an eye on it and if I see a server being out of DMs for a day I sometimes pop in for quick services.

It would be nice to have all these shout channel commands neatly together on the sidebar, with an example each. This is just like the new headpack, it'll go under in the Forums and only a handful of people will read it.
