I am not so much worried about the horses itself (although I guess everybody would do everything on a horse, effectively doubling the cycles) but the way you get on and off. I checked a few of the systems and all of them said "bugs". The 1.69 system was an utter rotter, such a horror that I still wonder what came into the mind of BioWare to add it.
Anyway, I ditched the UD set with the ceilings and corridors and added a few other tilesets instead. Another dungeon set, winter forest, more winter rural and desert options, and some extra's to the big castle tileset that was introduced in 1,69. Seemed a nice trade-off. I will have a look at the shields.

I don't think there'd be anything advantageous in having horses, then.

Just a little Wishful thinking here..
Oh how wonderful it would be to have an Actual 2 Handed Great Hammer on a Medium Sized Character.

The animation can be changed, but it would change it for heavy flails to and that may look....odd....

Anyway, I closed the hak except for some 2da work. Compiled the models which unfortunately made the hak 10% larger. Gonna see if I can bring down the size by cutting it up in a few smaller files, compression programs seem to like that. Took down the test mod for a while.

This looks like some great additions to the Amia world.
Is there an expected launch date?
That's one think I may have missed in the discussion

Well, I am still toying around with it. I guess I'll take another week to iron out the last details (there are some wishes from the DM team that I have to look into) but in principle everything is in so far. I think I'll give everybody a week to update and add some warning to the server to do so as well. Then I'll add the HAK and you will need to download it in order to be able to play.
Then I will let it run for 1-2 months and you will not notice a lot. You get no new items, no new clothing options, etc. If I'd do that I can't get back anymore. So, if we don't make a serious dip in player numbers during that period we're keeping the HAK and the contents will spread out. If we do it's the end of the HAK adventure.

So horses are a no-go, I'm assuming? I only read this page, going back to read the others, but I think if somehow they could be made to work, that would rock pretty heftily.

Yups. Been toying with them for the last few hours and they are a general pain in the arse, look horrible, and add a lot of size to the hak. The models that BioWare added are vastly suprior to anything that comes with CEP, not in the least because the latter doesn't come with saddles which ... well, we're not a Native American simulator.

Added chairs that you can use to bash people's head in. Helps to vent off the frustration about the horses.

Hahaha. If you're going to do that, you need to add beer mugs as projectiles. Can't have a good bar fight without beer mugs to throw.

I was told a hak just last night that some people may love!
(Sorry if someone else actually mentioned this) Jiggling boobies! When you move, no matter what you do, the womens chest always keeps moving. =D Don't worry, the person I asked wasn't on a Social server, but just on a normal other RP server that gave them the hak.
By the way, I totally second the throwing beer mug projectiles. ^.^

Anyway, Selvec's override he posted a long while back in the Override thread is a lot more tastefully done about teh jiggleh parts. And it makes the other parts look smooth too. I'd suggest we add it to Downloads page. x)

I hate those sorts of mod ... as if your breasts aren't going to have some support anyway, and you have ridiculous situations where they take one step and the breasts jump up and down ludicrously. Whose erotic fantasy was it to have a shirt full of ferrets on sugar-highs?

The one I'm talking about that one isn't like that. Not like the CEP chainmail bikini at all. Seriously, I'd be comfortable showing it to my grandma. Think sports bra. In addition, it only applies to the "0" torso option on female clothing, not ridiculously to everything.
But then again, I'm bias. Me no like static octagon boobies.
On the topic of HAKs, are we gonna fix that thing about the black largeshield being overwriten by the circle clown shield? I'd be sad one day to have my char's favorite shield turn into that. xD

Actually, it's not just mamaries. It's smooths out the leg, arm, feet, shin, etc etc body pieces so it doesn't look so blocky as well. The look simular to how they are in NWN2. So the message that would be sent is "Here's something that makes your char looks less like a polygon, overall."... not just "boobs"...
Gosh, we've got no problem with ripping people's guts out and putting their heads on stakes and putting it on the forum. I don't think -tasteful- body graphics enhancements bursts anyone's bubble.

Welcome to Puritan American Conservative views. Blood is great and fine but boobies will ruin the children's innocence.
I'll note that I couldn't care less for more skin. But this is a 'family server', as such one should abide by that.

Actually, not much at all. It's only for the "body" parts of your armor.
So if you're completely covered in armor, you look the absolute same. If you have exposed bisceps or feet or shins, then those appear as the smoother models, just like the regular body parts did. It works on other characters you see, however. But again, unless you have people walking around with nothing on at all...which is weird in any case, even then it's not gonna be noticeable lag in any case to the server or even to the PC's comp.
If any lag, is it extremely minimal. I have a relatively modest set up on this pc (I can't even enable Shiny Water), yet when I put it in ovverirdes I noticed no difference in lag whatsoever.

Seriously, it's no more worse than what WoW characters look like wihout clothes on. Especially since they're still clothed, just smooted out like the graphics were done in 2006 or something rather than 2002.
As soon as I find the link again, I'm posting it, or maybe if I could figure out how to post screenshots myself so you could see. It's not freaking going against anything"family", and besides, it's an override. If someone's prudish state forbids them to see anything more than the fists of doom and the hexagon thighs of the original NWN, no one's twisting their arm.

The better bodies HAK that you speak of wasn't intended to provide bouncy boobies, just more realistic body shapes. The mans body actually looks like a mans body, a man who engages in the physically testing career of adventuering. The womans body also looks the same, the shape is more realisitc and looks more toned, when I submitted it I had no idea it had bouncy boobs to be honest. I still barely ever notice it in game since it's so subtle.

You can add body overrides client-side. If there isn't one for the HAK in question, you can ask someone to make one.

I got a new test hak ready. The test server runs in the usual directory and is called Amia Hak test. It doesn't use the Amia character vault and is just plain NWN without any scripts. Direct Connection addy is the same as usual on port number 5123.
I have three download flavours, based on ease of use and bandwidth considerations:
I got plenty bandwidth and little brains
Self installer, 175 MB
http://www.amiaworld.net/hak/amia_hak.exe
I got as much bandwidth as brains
Single 7zip archive, 75 MB
http://staff.science.uva.nl/~dcslob/hak/amia_hak.7z
I got little bandwidth and plenty brains
8 part 7zip archive, 75 MB
http://staff.science.uva.nl/~dcslob/hak/parts/
The self-installer does all the work by itself. The files in the 7zip archives need to be placed in the proper folders: the .hak files go in the /hak/ folder of your NWN installation and the .tlk file goes in the /tlk/ folder. I assume that you know how to deal with segmented archives if you download the plenty brains option.
I will try to do any fixes in the smallest hak (amia_a.hak) so you'd just have to download a new version of that one when testing is done. I renamed all the files from the previous test to be sure you have the right ones. The old set (amia_1.hak, etc) can be trashed.
The size of the pack went from 65 to 75 MB. This is not because I added a lot of extra stuff but from compiling all the models. This should make the hak run smoother.

Mind that I picked bits from many hak packs. Most of them donate just one or two items.

Mind that I already thought of one bug: The description of the spear doesn't go with the new stats.
Some classes also have been changed a bit. Tormak can tell you more.

I am aware of, and fixed, the minimap issues in the new desert and snow tilesets. Unfortunately that means amia_b.hak need to be swapped with a new copy later.
I may be a good move not to download teh test stuff if you are on a tight download budget atm.

Wow, it took a little under a month to start discussing this and release the results. That was incredibly quick.
