High AB = More frequent crits.

As in, it exceeds the actual percentage which should be your max crits per round.

I get that on Darth as well.

I wouldn't expect someone who barely plays the action part of this game to really make the observation though, Disco.

O, but I rely on data, the random generator has been bugging me before, and I do have a high ab WM character. Probability calculations are about the only Maths I like as well.

Let's see. This one is of a few low level characters, played on Amia. I'll see if I can find one like that for Bustier as well.

http://staff.science.uva.nl/~dcslob/Book1.htm

There seems to be something wrong with 6 and 17, but I am not sure it's significant. I also saw there were quite a few 17 rolls for initiative in the log. Probably coincidence. The rest is exactly as expected.

Your AB and AC of opponents?

Both low, as suggested by the "low level" comment. I assume you are looking for high AB vs high AC?

High AB vs low or mediocre AC.

That's when it really shows. (aka, the 25 crits in a row mentioning earlier)

level 30 WM vs level 1 commoner:

01: 50
02: 47
03: 63
04: 66
05: 39
06: 57
07: 54
08: 67
09: 55
10: 59
11: 54
12: 56
13: 51
14: 53
15: 44
16: 43
17: 42
18: 52
19: 57
20: 46
total: 1055, 498 rolls > 10

Seems pretty normal to me.

Prefacing something offensive with 'no offence' means that you know it's offensive but are posting it regardless.

Riddle wrote:
"I like my sweet, huge, two handed greatsword.. way more than any other weapon. Way more than those ridicilously looking toothpics. I love my greatsword. But oh.. it doesnt work as well as the other weapons. Well.. something must be done cause I keep loosing with my sweet sweet greatsword. I know.. lets make all other good weapons that own me into having same stats as shortswords. Yeah.. thats balance. Cause then I can own with my sweet, beutiful greatsword."

What was that mocking statement meant to achieve? It's only purpose is to present a ludicrous situation which has not appeared in this topic to, I presume, inflict the offence you have no intention of giving.

Riddle wrote:
Second person goes "Oh yeah.. *thinks how to make this look like a good idea cause she/he too likes her sword* Yeah.. lets do it for haflings! For the love of haflings! They dont have good two hander swords! This is going to be a great solution for the haflings1 YAY! *giggle* "

Umm, I recall one or two posts where it was mentioned in size comparison, but nothing similar to your post, which I just again assume is blatant mockery, despite your wishes to ensure us you intend no offence.

You don't mean to be sarcastic? Then, pray tell, what tone you intended to convey with the above two examples?

Riddle wrote:
Nerfing to me goes like this. A bunch of people come onto the forums and see what they can get out of it for themselves.

How interesting, now you suggest that those who are posting have reasons other than balance at hand, thus denigrating them and weakening their suggestions.

Riddle wrote:
-Guys with two handers go nerf rapier! nerf kukri! nerf scimitar! why would they be better than MY sword if theyre small and mine is big and I sacrifice a lot to be wealding a two hander!

-Guys without DEV go "omg dont nerf the weapons, nerf the 'broken feat'!"
-Guys with DEV go "omg dont nerf the feat, nerf the 'broken weapons'!"

More mockery and denigration.

Riddle wrote:
Why would a small weapon like rapier do more damage than a greatsword? Thats unrealistic right? Well.. if you want realism make rapiers do much less damage, but give the huge swords -20 ab because nobody can swing them as fast as they can move a rapier so its easyer to dodge the big swords.

A nice strawman in there shooting down 'realism' as if it were an important point in someone's argument.

Riddle wrote:
My point is, you all 'seem to me' to want to make things better for yourselfs only, regardless weather or not something is broken. What is even more funny, is that 99% of the people in the topic, the people who are the most enthusiastic about a nerf and push forward any way they can are none powerbuilders who are in the 'build advice topic' the most. If nobody could get their fort up to 40, then id say dev has a problem. Then id say its the number one thing to be looked at and number one thing that 'needs' a fix. Right now as it stands, you have all the tools to make your fort 40, to get your ac up to mid 70s etc, you got nothing to complain about.

And now it's insulting everyone in this thread openly.

Riddle wrote:
That being said. I was the one to do the 25 crits in a row, so this is the first nerf topic Ive seen to have validity in my eyes. That comes from a guy that for the last few years has never chosen any other weapon than scimitar/rapier/kukri. And those 25 crits are the reason. If I havent moved countries, Id have a screenshot to show for, sadly I dont. So you can discard it, or take my word for it, but the point is.. those 3 weapons are 'always' my choice, 'all' my characters use one of those weapons, and I honestly think, that they deserve a nerf.

Anecdotal evidence doesn't really add much support. 25 crits in a row on a 10-20 crit range is unlikely, but not ludicrously so - perhaps you could provide more detail, such as AB vs AC and crit range. And possible changes to the weapon are being discussed.

What part of you post was not meant to be offensive again?

Longsword is good-looking. That's its big advantage. Many people will not choose to focus on raiper only for its power.

Cool it, folks.

25 crits in a row (if it really are 25) isn't that weird if you are a WM with a rapier/scimitar/kukri. It's basically tossing coins, and given the volume of die rolls it's bound to happen now and then.

More Crit multipliers on smaller weapons makes more sense then an increased crit range if you ask me. Traditionally such small weapon, particularly in the Kurki and Rapiers case, people could survive more then one hit from them. These weapons rarely hit a lethal point, but when they did, it REALLY hurt. So multiplier's make sense over crit range.

Alternatively just make rapier the same as longsword, Scim with an increased mutliplier due to it's wider blade & kurki also with a higher multiplier so when it hits with a crit you do a smack load of damage.

Edit:
Oh, and I believe riddles "large weapon" take was an insult at me. Which kinda is lame cause I admited in that post that my reasoning for having this changed was purely selfish and the cause of many years of feeling like the "sacrafice cost" or two handed weapons simply isn't balanced when those with smaller weapons can do more damage. I could be wrong, but the post reaks of only reading the first and last page.

First and last page huh.. mate, you do realise there were only 2 pages of the thread when I made the post, right?

All quotes by Yurell:

Exactly.

It has not appeared in this topic? Really? Perhaps you should read over.

I was refering to the post which excused making rapier the same as shortsword with the fact that it would be a two hander with exta damage for haflings.

I wanted to make you realise that you are asking for nerfs for the wrong reasons, and making up ridicilous excuses. Whatever you can get away with just to make the nerf happen. - not 'you' you of course.. its a general statement.

More facts from observation.

I cant believe this one to be honest. Its as if there was ever a thread in which it wasnt said "why would a rapier, being so small and thin, do more damage than *insert whatever sword here*"

Quote:

Whats next? Youll ask me to show it again in game? I told you, believe it, or discard it. 2 years of using 'only' those weapons, and anyone who has seen my chars, knows that. And I 'still' say, nerf it. The nerf would only affect me, and anyone else like me. Unlike most of the people that want to nerf it. "weakening their suggestions" is done because I only see people who don't play those weapons but get killed BY those weapons are here, complaining. People like you Yourell. How many dev critter weapon masters with rapiers do you have? So yes, forgive me for being offencive, I know I am, but your posts do have less validity when it comes to this because you are a good roleplayer, not someone who spent 8 years in the pit, hack and slashing. Its only an insult if you take it that way. Don't flame me. To me, its the opposite of an insult. I wish someone could say that about me.

None. This is who I am. This is how I express myself. With hard language and 'brutal honesty'. I honestly don't mean to hurt/insult you, but my tone makes me sound like a arrogant bastad. But dont degrade to my level, dont insult me back on every sentence I say without even the courtesy to counter a single point I make. Your whole post, in fact, offered much less to the thread than my post did. Your only goal of the post was to insult me. Are we so different?
