I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to know that the Banites and the BC hate each other, and you should probably handle this ICly.

That's a rather interesting comment to make, Valas, completely unrelated to the matter at hand, only a day or so after Nekhy's account was hacked, and with you well known to have to motive to do so. Trying to hint at something?

To bring this around back on topic, I think NPC's guards are needed for factions that have an area to guard so that the PC's can have a break. It kinda comes down to Amia being a game and I don't think anyone logs in to play 'guard that tree: the all day long edition'.

Actually in response to Ron implying it first.

I don't have the slightest of ideas how to hack a forum sadly.

Uhm.

I was just told that a Banite had been shot at in Amia Forest (by the Black Caravan), for apparently no reason at all.

And that he was told that the Banites were banned.

So... what's up with that?

I would have very much appreciated a PM about this, given (obviously) the Black Caravan is run by myself, and this involves actions of said individuals.

Though, again, I sadly can't say I'm surprised to see this handled poorly by the faction, by having both "Big Dog" come out and handle the matter (instead of the involved individual, Jaydn), and by not actually going through the channels that'd likely be more, well, tactful - such as actually talking to the individual involved.

... To move on, however;

The Caravan and the Banites are not on good terms. The Caravan's presence in the forest specifically is one that has to be found out IC in regards to the 'why's' and the orders they're running under, but obviously as the (for the moment) 'dominant authority' - they're going to get rid of anyone whom they deem as a party that might just be directly dangerous.

Comes from the Caravan being attacked by Banites, repeatedly, in the past to the point wherein a war took place. Given the Grove has had its own, significant, problems with the Banites - it shouldn't be a surprise that there isn't really any resistance when the BC Said "we're gonna punt any Banite or Order individual we see, ta".

In regards to the specific details; Black Caravanner saw Banite spying on Druid. Given the fact the Caravan is there, right now, without resistance from the locals - it should be obvious there's some sort of short-term agreement between the two groups. Caravan Archer got the 'approval' from the druid to remove the individual.

Said individual was given five orders to 'leave quickly' or 'run' or else get shot.

He didn't. Took a long while, and leisurely strolled away afterwards.

Caravanner gave a warning shot as he left.

Next time, I would appreciate a PM, instead of a breach of the forum rules such as "Don't make specific scene incidents".

Seriously. Ease off with the "You Banites are bastards, and we'll try to presume that everything you do is intended to be a violation of something."

I asked for clarification, since your previous answers to my questions were quite contradictory, seeing how we're supposedly banned, and the Black Caravan is the enforcer.

Oh... and I've seen screenshots of the dialogue and the combat log, btw. So I know what happened.

Stop breaking the rules repeatedly and I'll stop telling you you're breaking the rules repeatedly.

You know for a fact that specific incidents on forums are not permitted. You take it to PMs.

I've been pretty quiet about the thread for the most part but considering that's precisely what the faction I was in did for more than 6-8 months....and we had our own brand of fun even if it wasn't everyone's idea of fun. But as mentioned before, when the idea of NPCs or blinds came up, we were all but shot down on more than one level by DMs.

It -does- seem more than passingly suspicious that NPCs are approved now when that same area is under the control of a faction that's all but filled with DMs.

Looks sketchy no matter which way the plots have been moved been moved along. Really it's hard not to look that way. Plus ICly, taking help from the BC seems like shooting yourself in the foot if the goal is to -not- cause more conflicts in an area.

*however tarnished, those are the two cents given.*

The grove has ONE DM in it. That's it. And they only play very small tertiary roles for the exact reason you're complaining about. You should really know better than to toss the cons[iracy claims.

Really, the question we are asking which none has answered yet is why the thing that is happening now was not alright when we tried to do it a few months back.

The caravan is defending the forest for plot reasons etc... kay, no problem with that.

Why was it not alright to have rangers or elemental protect the forest when it was asked for in the past, with actual ic plans, discussions and even the resources available? Why wasn't this allright back then, when it's allright now?

DM plot supercedes PC request. Always has nd always will.

Frankly, Valas, it's none of your business, since you are no longer a part of this community, and no longer wanted.

I know that the number of PC guards nearly tripled in this past week, myself being included among the new, fresh Elven Guards.

And we havent had issues. We've been dealing with it fine. Yeah, its supposed to be dangerous, and there are plenty of ways to solve this without the help of NPC guards. Its more fun if us PC's do it too! :D

It'd be nice, but its not, by any means, our only alternative.

And if whomever we kill comes back, we'll just as soon kill em again.

And we're dealing with the presence of the BC and its implication in the majority if our IC roleplayin' time.

-- Well, thats my two centsm for all it counts.

Amia Forest some reason is cursed with creating the worst whining and complaining I've seen. And frankly I find that really hard to approve requests or anything for.

I'm easy to get stuff from too. You stay pleasant and RP to impress the DMs and not your fad, friends, self, etc and you'll get stuff! Why is that hard? Cause the we all need to be rebels and not let the DMs say whats impressive or not right? Yeah... 8)

Honestly folks, you work with us, we work with you.

PC guards in Amia Forest will fade as the fad passes over.

Same old, same old.

My two cents on the situation...

I feel that there shouldn't be a ~Permanent~ NPC presence in the forest. As that does stop the conflict from happening full stop due to the fact that the DM's need to possess the NPC's to facilitate anything.

I like the current situation with the Black Caravan in the forest as there IS an NPC presence, which sometimes just turn up as thats when they would be there, or can be used as a DM tool to calm things down when they get a little out of hand. They can't be there all the time, simply because they don't have the man power to do so. Despite that if you piss them off its a short route to having a really bad day.

I think that perhaps someplaces the NPC presence should go down to a semi permanent level, mainly because the NPC factions which guard that area don't have the manpower to do so. This would allow conflict to happen, and sometimes the guards would turn up and step in, other times they wouldn't because they are far too stretched. Wuold also give PC patrols a little bit more of a point. So for example, the Falls could loose a few guards but it could be known they "Patrol" the area.

I agree to some extent with Mago's point of Dynamic conflict, but I think that would open up a whole new can of worms, as if factions played in different timezones it would leave it open to abuse as hypothetically speaking, the defenders of Kohlingen guard the city in their time zone, and then say the Drow, the Banites, the Cyrisists or Tarkuul play in their timezone and attack the city. But thats not part of the conversation really isn't it.

Also, the Ranger blinds I REALLY like the idea of.

If a matter is publicized untruthfully and with incorrect details, the DM Team reserves the power to correct them.

Give me a break.

1. Nothing was publicized untruthfully nor with incorrect details in that post.

2. Azrael is right. You did mention the name. Regardless.

Get off your high horse, Ron. It doesn't suit you.

And you're not all knowing.

Quite untruthful, especially the parting note which says 'Absolutely No Reason At All', which in of itself possesses its own connotations. And yes, I did indeed mention the name. Conduct warnings do, at times, take place in public.

However, that's neither here nor there.

You'll notice that the statement I made that involved the referenced situation in full came before you even looked at the screenshots and investigated the matter before making claims.

The post was, afterall, a clarification of a situation brought up in public forums.

I simply don't edit my posts unnecessarily.

(off topic, again)

The point is you chose to publicly disclose the name when you had the option not to. Just to try and publicly humiliate the person on the forums.

Which is one of the reasons why specific incidents are not allowed on the forums to begin with. DM's hold the power to correct untrue statements,
not mention the names of the people in specific incidents on the public forums to 'get back at them'.

Your breaking your own rules, then saying your allowed to because your a dm. That's a 'nono' in my book. I'd like another DM to post in this forum to clarify the rule situation please so we can move on and end this off-topic discussion.

Thanks,
Azrael
