Undead is undead. And to someone who hates undeath itself, they would likely not approve of it in any case, IMO.

They may empathize with the creatures motives(if it's a baelnorn protecting a grave or a Revanant returning to right an injustice), but nonetheless, these creatures are "violating" the rule of life and natural cycle.

I think we're(Hoarites) are just fine with the idea of Revanants. Mines view is that Undead that are reanimated to destroy something that unjustly destroyed/harmed/etc them or their loved ones is fine and in fact admirable. Undead that arise of their own otherworldly volition fall under this cat for him to. But unless they can continue to right justices, or will never "find their peace" so to speak, it would be better for them to be laid to rest.

Now undead that are ripped from their peace, souls forced to walk again, or remains animated, thats an act of aggression against a subject that cannot defend itself back, nor is deserving of it. Thus is retributable in his eyes, though he may not act on it immediately.

But I guess I've digressed. Undead is undead is undead. If someone is supposed to dislike undead, it really shouldn't matter what they're doing, good bad or indifferent, they're still defying the Cycle.

You know, the way some people still hate Drow, even if they're good, it doesn't matter what that particular one is or does, the fact that it is a drow is enough for some.

Druids of Auril.

I've asked it before, And will ask again probably - It's doable? Even tho the Godess supports Undead?
But, Question - Does she Support Lawfull-Neutral?

According to pnp Wiki she does, but according to Amia she doesn't

Clarification requested.

If Amia's lore says she doesn't support the LN alignment, she just doesn't.

The lore hierarchy goes Core < 1stEd < 2ndEd < 3rd-3.5 Ed < House Lore & DM rulings. Unless you suspect its an oversight, it's likely right the way it is.

Correction: There are druids of undeadloving/supporting deities.

Anything that loves undead and calls itself a druid is... not a druid. Not even Blighters approve, IIRC. Even they have to kill things to get their power, and if you don't die(as in continue to live unnaturally) even then you're feckin up the Cycle.

Edit: Oops, just checked Complete Divine. Blighters apparently get summon undead, control undead, and undead shapes. but my statement still stands.

Anything that loves undead and calls itself a druid is not a druid. If anything it would be a Blighter. And those would neeeeeeveeeeer be approved as PC's on Amia.

I'm not aware of how Kelemvor and Lathander's dogma treats Revenants and Baelnorns. Helm and Hoar make extensive use of the former though.

PnP says Auril's clergy alignments are NE, LN and CN. Which is really stupid, if you ask me, but whatever. It's up to the DM's to decide it the way it is here is an oversight or their house rule.

Untrue. Druids stand against undeath because it's unnatural. Even evil Druids.

The Blighter is the anti-Druid. They literally stand for everything the Druid stands against. What Druids preserve (natural settings like Forests), Blighters destroy. A Druid hates Undead and Aberrations and Blighters love them. Druids try to stop outsider influence, Blighters would promote it. Basically, Druids protect/love natures balance and Blighters destroy/hate natures balance.

The Druid gains spell by praying and doing it's holy/unholy duty of protecting nature, while the Blighter gains spells by praying and doing it's holy/unholy duty of destroying nature.

Blighters are the work of Talona and the Druid is the work of Silvanus.

I wouldn't promote that Blighters would never be approved on Amia, since you're not a DM, let alone the whole of the DM team.

Blighters are untenable, because to gain spells, they need to use their Deforestation ability once a day. This ability involved killing all plantlife within 20ft radius/Blighter level (or something very big like that), useable once a day no save. So a very high level blighter walks nito the Amia Forest, does that, walks out... forest is gone. And that's just for 24 hours worth of spells.

Yep. Just did some quick math, and if I'm correct, at lv 30, a Blighter would destroy a plot of land just under 20 football fields(including in-zones) in area with one Deforestation. 19.62 to be exact. So if a Blighter were on Amia, the populace would know within the course of a few weeks, perhaps days if it was a high level.

It's not just the sheer size of the area affected, it's also that nothing can be grown in that area again, unless Hallow(Lv 5 Drd/Clc) is cast on it.

I'm personally curious though now. Wasn't there a plot long, long, long ago that involved some NPC Blighters?

What exactly is the Book of Vile Rituals? I've seen it talked about several times on the forums and know it's blackguard only. I know it improves the blackguard's planar summon but how? Why? How do you get it and what does it require to get it?

At Amia the blackguard can receive the Book of Vile Rituals which gives them an upgraded Epic Fiend summon. This is a DM reward.

You need Epic Fiendish Servant feat and a DM quest. It gives a new fiend dependant on alignment.

More a question for Tormak then the server as a whole. I have some source material on Chult (The Serpent Kingdoms and The Jungles of Chult) and I was wondering if anyone else knew of any other books I could buy to research the chultans?

Lots of little bits thrown out in every which way. Savage species maybe, I dunno.

There's not a lot of source material.

While I love the concept of a blighter and would relish the chance to play one, I don't see them ever being approved.

If anything, it would be some sort of arch-villain NPC in a DM plot.

-That- would be cool.

Edit:

Also, while I'm thinking about it: Dwagin had put forth the idea that Tiamat would abhor and try to destroy any servants of Faluzure or Faluzure Himself.

Does anyone have any source lore to back this up or is it a home-brewn idea that Tiamat hates Faluzure/undead? I can't find anything to support those ideas anywhere in the Draconomicon or F&P.

Tiamat is some sort of weird anti-deity deity. She hates all other gods and will only work with a few of them when it's absolutely necessary.

This came up today, so just looking for a brief clerification from the staff please.

Blackguard Aura of Despair. The description says it affects only enemies (Hostile targets). There is a slight visual effect, however I've been assuming that's more for guageing distance from center, than actual visual that people can see.

Questions:
1) Can non-hostile targets "feel" anything from the Aura.
2) Is the visual effect an OCC guide or viewable IC?

That's all for now. :)

Not what i asked - My question, is it dangerous, From a falling perspective, to play a Druid of Auril? Since they're apparently Undead police
Yet auril supports summoning of the dead

Hoar supports using Undead Revenants as well, but a Paladin of Hoar would fall for summoning undead. Dogma vs Oath.

I'm not sure what was unclear about that. Unless I am also horribly confused, followers of Hoar will tolerate undead, but paladins of [insert god here] will not, therefore paladins of Hoar do not support undead.

Paladins are bound by paladin stuff, in addition to their god's stuff. Same thing with druids.

Interpritation of deity dogmas are no less varied in FR than they are RL. Followers of the same god belonging to different churches may be bitter enemies.

Hoar, the deity, allows his followers to use undead as means to exact revenge and justice. Ie; it is an aviable tool for hoarites. Paladins however can not make use of this tool due to their oaths. Simple as that, really.

Nothing is as fun as two opposing interpritation of dogmas within the same faith. Too bad it seldom comes into play on Amia.

Both of you chillax seriously....

Helm and Hoar are 2 of the 'good' dieties that support Undead. Both are LN but chum with goodguys more then anything currently. Hoar uses revanants, meaning the dead has a choice to come back to serve to get the vegance.

Helm according to talk i had with Tormak dont talk about it much but all the bodies in their temple are buried and prepare in a way, where if need be they can be reanimated with a little fuss as possible to defend it.

the thing is with that though tempus are all about strength and honour, and i'm pretty sure i've heard the use of poison is not honourable, aswell as possibly undead and necromancy. chaotic doesn't mean they are crazy either, nor would a tempus CE character nessicarrily summon undead if they could, I imagine they would be more an evocationist.

ed: i'm sorry I have no patience within half hour of waking up -_- yes I wake up at 11pm...

What could be more honorable than a warrior volunteering to be preserved in such a way that if the need arises, he can be brought back to fight alongside his fellows in defense of his faith?

And just because it seems to have gotten lost in the other posts, here's mine again if a staff memeber could give a response please.

IDK the specifics on this one but all that google brings up is the generic description, can't find the spell/feat description from pnp either...need my books =(

Aura of Despair: The blackguard radiates a malign aura that causes enemies within 10 feet of him to suffer a -2 morale penalty on all saving throws.
Aura of despair is a supernatural ability.

and I imagine its the green stuff but yea I think a DM or a tester would know best there.

ed: also I imagine this would make a neutral or good character feel sick provided they are not paladins or high level clerics/mages.

Regarding Aura of Despair, it's my opinion that you are so vile, what you have done si so despicable tahat others would indeed be able to feel the aura of sheer malignance that radiates from you. Your enemies feel this even more drastically, but even those close to you, and neutrals, may find themselves somewhat uneasy, or feeling something "Off" about you. It might not translate into fear or any mechanical penalties, but if you have that aura running, IMO anyone within 10 feet is entitled to give you a funny look. Just like how a Paladin's Aura of Courage works for everyone nearby.

The little dots on an aura aren't visible unless the player emotes them. They're a circle that dictates the range of the spell. "Auras" themselves aren't generally visual without magical sight.

Can you expand on what is needed for this magical sight? Is True Seeing enough? Or do you need Bioware TS, or PnP spells?

A druid of Auril is not the same as playing a Blighter.

Not what i asked - My question, is it dangerous, From a falling perspective, to play a Druid of Auril? Since they're apparently Undead police
Yet auril supports summoning of the dead

Maybe only slightly more dangerous than playing a Druid of Silvanus or something. Inner conflicts are a spice of RP that is seldom seen on Amia. One place it already runs ramped is in the Nature/Forest playerbase. Hence the Grove/Glade/Independents spits and tensions.

It's not "dangerous" at all. It's no more "dangerous" than any other druid.

Druids don't like, approve of, cuddle undead, whether they're of Silvanus or Auril. It's as simple as that. As long as the druid does not create or fraternize with undead, of any deity, they are fine. You are a druid of Silvanus:A Silvanite summons undead; you strongly dissaprove. You are a druid of Auril: An Aurilite summons undead; you strongly dissaprove. Period.

Just because your god does something, or lets other people do something, it doesn't make it "right" or acceptable for you to do it as a druid. That's your position in the clergy as a druid, to protect the natural aspects of the deities will. Those will of course sometimes conflict with the people holding up the other aspects of the deity will sometimes. People have to get it out of their head that the gods, and more importantly their mortal handymen, always work in a frictionless way and have to be in agreement 100% of the time. It's mortal folk carrying out the often abstract concepts and portfolios of immortal beings.

Cleric and Blackguard readily approve on the basis of following through on vengeance for their god's dogma and possibly een offer to help the revenant complete its vengeance: the cleric to follow through and shorten the time the soul is take away from rightful rest and the blackguard possibly just to mete out some wrath.

Paladin understands that his god uses Undead but probably declines to travel with them extensively, instead choosing to help further the faith in a different way, or if extremely pressed, helps, but does not directly aid the undead, and requests that its mission be accomplished absolutely ASAP so as to return it to rest.

And, being a paladin, he may also try to convince his fellow Hoarites that using undead is not something one should do. He won't smite them, but odds are good he will preach until their ears fall off.
