Can anyone tell me where to set glowing eyes on NPC in aurora? And how to change glow color? Thanks.

It's hard-coded into the game for level 20 monks. I'm sure you'd have to fuck around with 2das and such.

There are also visual effects that look uglier than the onk eyes but are nonetheless colored effects that you can place.
You'd need to find a module or look through the 2da and place them manually with scripts or DM commands.

Actually a walk through how to add effects like the bug one or the effect that the mummy dust has when summoned on npcs would be greatly appreciated, as I could use that for my current project at the moment.

I'd say check the NWN bioware forum "For Builders" section. That has a few walkthroughs on scripting and such. http://nwn.bioware.com/builders/Aside from that, the only thing I know of is a VFX browser module that I found on NWVault that lets you search through pretty much all of the VFX's by name, type, key word, etc. Really well done at that. The ones in our HAK though of course won't appear, and I wouldn't suggest adding it to the browser mod cuz it would prolly bug the chat scripts. But at least it shows you most of the stuff that's out there.

I created a module to browse the glowing eye VFXs once, it's a bit of a trick. Alternatively, go in game on the DM client, and look up the "EYES_" references numbers in visualeffects.2da. Type dm_visualeffect xxx 10000 in the console, and target an NPC.

I was wondering if the monk glowing eyes thing could be either shut off or widget adapted for on/off modes. Are other color also allowed from the standard alignment giving away ones? Just trying to find out what my options could be. Thanks. And, yes, I know you can buy glowing eyes with DC's . I'm just wondering about complications from already having it scripted from being a 20th level monk.

Ok. Doing question about glowing eyes and the use of polymorph. If I turn to, for example, a pixie, do I still have glowing red eyes as that pixie due to the fact it can't be shut off? Just curious of the rp angle on that.

glowing eyes are limited to standard PC types anyway, unless you polymorph to one of them. Your eyes will go away. You can also set special other colors on top of your monk eyes. for instance green on your blue eyes to give a "stacking" visual effect to blue/green glowing eyes. here's a screeny of the different types of other VFX's for eyes. It is also really really simple to add them to someone with a script. It's a one line command, and I've done it before though I cnat' be bothered to try and open up my toolset anymore since 'tis all wonky.. I do know however that the glowing eyes only work for a spesific race or apperance type (standard player ones), because you CHOOSe which one it should work for best. If you pick the elven type for a human, his cheeks will glow instead.

Thanks for those awesome pictures. I might think about adding another eye glow as my monk becomes more progressed, increasing the brilliance to reflect the interior growth as he gains more epic level understanding. The question about the eyes glowing while poly'd is based upon the inability of the monk to shut off the glow. With eyes being the proverbial 'window to the soul' no matter what form is taken, I would assume that even while poly'd the eyes continue to glow. This would make it utterly impossible for the eye glowing monk to pretend he is a normal creature of the kind he has changed to. The cute little fey would not look so cute with those red glowing eyes, giving the disguise away. If it is decided by a dm that the eyes don't glow when poly'd, then at least I'll have a method of eye glow stopping.

semi-related question - Are monk's eye glowy bits IC or OOC? DO I respond to it as my characters going "My. Your eyes there, sir. Illuminating" Or do we assume that its an OOC indicator of awesome, like those glowing circles of dotted lines for auras?

I'd say Yes. They 'Glow of KI' I could have sworn that the dots are something I was told to ignore.. and I have to question the ki-glow mostly because that means I automatically know the moral alignment of any monk I bump into. Which may or may not influence a given character's reaction to it.

While Darth Vader's Sword is Red, And he's fkn evil.... Right? A lightsaber is an accessory and comes in a rainbow of colors. As it stands, a monk's eye color is mechanically linked to their soul.. And any character with an Intelligence of 10+ will be able to put together that there is a correlation between eye glow color and which sides of conflicts they tend to wind up on >.> The "color coded morality" thing has always bugged me.

I've seen the monk glow from perfect self be RPed as both perma and being able to be "shut off"
Basically you can and probably should always think that if something is a gain to the other player, that's what's done.
If the monk is in disguise and red glowing eyes would give it away.. you can be pretty sure it's player is going to get mad at you "understanding" what the red eyes are glowing for. That said it would be alot easier to have a DM ruling on the glowing eyes.

Given that a monk has complete control over his/her body, one would think that he/she could "shut off" his eyes.

I thinkhe wants to know if a monk can hide the glow,I suppose, tormak... Honestly, I could go either way on it, though i'd never have my monk hide what he was.

Monks can suppress the glow of their eyes, yes.
But the only way to do that with WYSIWYG is to continuously emote *Does not have glowing eyes atm*. Or wear certain helms. But inevitably, some n00b is going to walk up to you and say "HEY!!1! COOL MONK BRO!".
Which is why I only RP my monks as dimming the light of their Ki. Never really extinguishing it. >_>
