I have just got a new computer, and installed nwn without a problem. However! When I load up the game, it gets to the first menu, I hit play and the loader comes up. Then it just goes away, and the game doesn't load up. I have messed with my firewall settings, and I try to use nwn in compatible OS, but nada.

So if anyone has an idea, please! Let this guy know.

Don't use the loader, it doesn't work. Just run the exe.

That, or you can try right click on the icon and select "run as administrator." It should start up without a hitch. I had this problem when I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7.

I am already running nwn as admin, nothing I can think of seems to work.

What they mean is, go to your directory, find the one called nwmain, create a shortcut for it on your desktop, run as admin and go!

Are you using windows 7?
32 bit or 64 bit OS?
What is the make/model number of your PC, if it is a prebuilt from an OEM?(Like a Dell/HP/Toshiba etc)
If it is not prebuilt from one of the big companies, what video card are you using?
What version of NWN do you have? (Diamond? Platinum? Regular expansions etc etc)

Try manually updating it, by downloading the manual update patch? I had a similar problem and doing the manual update fixed NWN, which was the problem. The old, unpatched NWN isn't suited for Windows 7, I guess.

Alternatively, run it in compatibility mode.

Download and run that as admin, once it installs try after that.

NWN pre 1.68 on Vista/Windows7 machines will not execute past the launcher due to security settings.

Download and run this first. then try running the game.

If that doesn't work then try updating your video drivers to these. I'm assuming you have windows7 64bit. You can check if you do by going to the windows button and typing "System" into it (without the quotes). then going down to the option which is in the Control Panel. If it is, try using these:

um, if its vista not exactly 'this', you need to disable the anti-user rubbish and full enable admin mode, else right clicking doesn't really do much.

User access control is an important security feature, disabling it is unwise.

And so it begins! NWN works just fine, besides the fact that when I turn on Enviroment and Character mapping, my toon becomes invisble besides whatever it is holding. See you punks IG!

Go into the ATI control panel and set Catalyst AI to standard.
