Man, or woman, up and eat your deaths. In the space of two hours, I ran across the typical start room corpses and Two ooc res rescues. This server's penalties are low and xp and gold are easily gotten.

back on the topic, if one still remains, yea, i'm not rezing people who switch servers halfway between resets in the entry, you can fricking respawn.
as for after reset, slightly different story, you could have been with a party that just didn't get to rez you in time or a multitude of other things, I think we all know the issue at hand here...if its possible to script in permakill for people who die and switch servers please do.

It's one thing to die and then wait for a reset to get a raise in the entryway. I find that to be just as bad of a penalty as the gold and xp penalty because you put your character out of commission for that amount of time that it takes for a reset. Switching servers to get a raise however is a bit of a problem that I don't agree with and I've been trying to brew up ideas to prevent that sort of thing from happening but the only methods I can think up would also prevent people from waiting for a reset as well and I'm not sure I agree with that at all. Some people don't want to eat an xp/gold loss for a respawn. You could argue and state that if they just respawned instantly, they could go out and get that xp and gold in the amount of time it would take them to wait on a reset. I look at it as that player's choice in that scenario. I'm pretty sure there is a DM stance of not waiting for resets for raises but I'm not sure it is unanimous amongst the entire team. Until then, I say what characters decide to do with their time, whether it be waiting for a reset or going about grinding their brains out getting gold/xp is their choice unless the DM team says otherwise. Edit: ainjyll said it best. ainjyll wrote: *struggles and groans as he drags the dead horse out of the closet again for another good beating*

Switching servers to get a raise is metagaming, and can get you banned. Don't do it.

After a reset, I assumed it was alright. However, switching servers specifically for a raise... that's a big no-no.

In game of course they're done after PVP for convenience, and that's fine. Entryway if I had my way would be a giant nono, but AFAIK it's currently still accepted. I've seen people log in dead after being alive seconds prior, so occasionally I understand, but I still dun like it. As peeves and a few players have said, if I see you switch servers to get a raise I'm killing you and making you take the raise...with interest

Keeell them. Kell them all!!!!
*end rant*
Anyway yes. Big no no. Man up, you get stomped on then it happens. Take the hit, dust yourself down, learn from it. If you did nothing wrong then consign it into the mental 'Bloody Stupid Folder'. Things in this folder can be safely ignored. Then you can move on in life and be a much happier person for it.
This is -really- true.

the way i see it.. all magic is banned from entry, except for raises. If entry raises were banned, then wouldn't raise dead, resurrect, and scrolls also be blocked by the magic block?

think so but then if you died and the server restarted your char would be dead forever, it would work as long as you appeared on your last location not the entry, an idea is just take out the entry.

The quoted above are really describing two of the same thing. Only in one case you just log in an alt and wait for reset instead of switching servers. Also, for the arguement of I died just before reset.. how is it not meta-gaming to suddenly appear in a crowded area after dying (post server cycle)? Anyway, more than the dead horse of entryway res'ing I was more irritated at the ooc rescuers; I know this, as I was flat out told in /tell because I was about to call them on camp jumping. Ironically, I was on my way down the crawl and would have saved the victim(s) myself which could have been some good RP. Anyway, just wanted to do a PSA reminder much like the guard meta thread for any new players etc, that may not know these practices are, in fact, against the server rules. Cheers

I don't see what's wrong with raising dead toons in the welcome area.
Besides costing me 2000 GP, it doesn't affect me at all. And it's not like "manning" up to take the XP & gold hit makes more IC sense than simply being raised by others at the entry.

Have every reset reduce all characters back to the start of their current level if they're dead.
This means that deliberately logging off dead and logging back in after a reset, could cost you more XP than hitting respawn.
I'll just be over here dodging the rotten fruit and stuff.

I'll just be over here dodging the rotten fruit and stuff. Not a good idea for when you get the random glitch of popping up in the entryway dead, for no reason despite the fact your character was sitting comfortably in a tavern prior to reset. Harsher penalties for an activity that doesn't affect other players/characters in the slightest is one of the worst and self-centered ideas I've seen on these boards, not to say there aren't others, not to mention one of the oldest. As ainjyll said, "*struggles and groans as he drags the dead horse out of the closet again for another good beating*". I don't see how this thread can offer any constructive ideas on ways to improve the server.

If you don't agree with the practice of logging when dead just... leave them dead on the ground. Maybe others will follow the example and leave the corpses there?
