Well, Amia is technically European for months now, though it's an international collaboration above all. But Euro DMs tend to be busy working during the Euro afternoon hours.

Unless I also hang around until the very early hours I've noticed the same thing. On a slightly regular basis DMs will log in about 7-8-9ish..? Though it rarely seems to be for very long, and mostly for dealing with requests/problems rather than running events, but they do exist. Just hang on in there champ!
it doesn't help that after 10pm for the last week straight the server has bugged out as well as the website =( but um, play til 5am and you'll see some shout outs at least, events don't happen every day, but dm player characters are usually around, and idk weekends seams to be the most lively for events.
the last real event I saw was in the forest, and the latest I saw but didn't go to ingame we're drow related. I guess its down to luck and or prior knowledge.

If there were plots that went on between evenings for Eastern Hemisphere folk to evenings for Eros I know I'd be happier. Too many times have I stayed up til 5am only to find that if I stayed up til 6 then I wouldn't have missed out on story that impacts all of my characters. Instead I'm left clueless apart from little hints around on the forum only if I do some digging after being told in tells and in character about all the orgasmic fantastic events that I've missed out on.
I honestly believe my sanity has suffered due to sleep deprivation, though I only blame myself and my addiction.
The Euro DMs I know of are Nekh, Maias227, MrBennHundred, Transcendental Templar, and Ziacat.
I only ever really see Maias227 pop up every now and then, which is nice. The Aussie DM has left. And Other than MrBennHundred, the recent DMs have all been in the US, and I expect this won't change for the coming new ones.

I second that emotion.
Don't feel bad San, the only events Crow gets in on are the ones he gets dragged into by other chars, which is quite rare. Or the ones he stumbles into, because I make a conscious effort to not metagame.
i'm used to pulling 2 day'ers with drinking from the past so thats not so much my problem, but I totally know what your saying. 1am would be better, since americans are online, and euro peoples are still usually online aswell, anything past 6am gmt is getting into the time where -everyone- logs for the night. well actually 10am when the aussies start arriving =)
honestly don't care what time of day events are as long as they don't -all- happen at midnight pacific time cause half the world will miss the story.

Main reason I had to stop playing, I was staying up 'till 10 am to be with US people I loved being around and I was seriously starting to develop psychological problems due to odd sleep and inconsistent presence in my real life doings.
No one's fault, no one can help it, I hate the meridians of the globe.
bah! I live in Australia AND i'm a demanding whinger... you think you have problems

It could be worse.. We could have no Amia.
Half full is always better than half empty.

Need to find people with the right level of skill, the right mindset, spotless records, the time, and the enthusiasm. Most of us fail on at least one of these. Those who aren't are probably being considered already, or haven't been on the server long enough to be noticed. There's no "Time to get more DMs!" button to press. DM recruitment is constantly ongoing.

I noticed "spotless record" has been emphasised. What does that mean?
It could mean never being banned or punished for breaking the rules, or never having been involved in an argument that got negative publicity. The former is a good criteria, the latter cuts out most of the people who get involved in interesting stuff.

It means that if you muled a masterwork longsword worth 400gp to your alt in 2004, you will never be a DM.
I'm not really sure I should be posting such things from my position, but I gathered there was something of a policy regarding such things. It's a matter of trustworthiness, I think. No cheats. I'm not sure how much leeway or room for forgiveness there is, but thats the general idea.
I don't think someone with a ton of time is necessary. Just who would be available at said time. Enthusiasm is important because I know it can be hard being a DM. They are practically slaves to you all.
School has also started so some would be even less available right now.

Take something that happened six years ago into consideration when their behaviour since then may be immaculate? Especially something petty like that? Seems kind of harsh to me.

This isn't a confessional

We never give blanket statements to what we want in a DM. Some people are contacted, some people send us letters of interest. There is no "You have to be XYZ".
However Cloak is accurate in that we don't allow people who have broken server rules, and pretty much everything else he said.
Rest assured that we're painfully aware of the time difference, and that we're pretty much constantly looking for a way to fix it.

Yuss I've stepped down, I suppose I should have made a note somewhere but its chiefly due to increasing work preasure from the university and such. Oh yes and the fact I got sick and tired of all those Scandinavians. Always up to no good:)
Anyhow not to derail the topic too much, timezones are timezones you can't really move people around the globe to match playing times. Mostly the American dm cover some of the euro evening as well due their afternoon or something.

Yes Honesty and the ability to be neutral and calm-headed? I mean neutral to be able to work though any problems without bias if it isn't cut and dry like cheating. I guess that's why there are whole DM discussions. Anyways, who ever it will be or take the shift I'm excited since I play at these times.
